From the Desk of the President.

I have always wanted to write

that. Thanks Woodrow for another

dream come true.

Dedicated staff and fellow students. As

President of Student Government Asso-ciation, it is my great pleasure to wel-

come you to our community. I would

also like to thank all of you who havegiven me this opportunity. I would also

like to extend my congratulations to the

students who graduated this past Friday,and to all of our new students. Woodrow

Wilson is a fine institution, and youshould be very proud to be able to say

that you are a part of it. I want you tothink about your education up to this

very moment, from finger painting and

handwriting, to calculus and physics.Woodrow Wilson is about to bring you

to an entirely new level of learning.

What you learned in high school wasgood for high school, but this is college,

and you have a lot of learning to do.

Over the course of the next weeks,months, or year you will learn what you

need to in order to be a leader in our

complicated world. College is an amaz-

ing experience because you and youalone, decide what you get out of it.

President John F. Kennedy once said,"And so my fellow Americans, ask not

what your country can do for you, ask

what you can do for your country."Woodrow Wilson is going to do many

things for all of you. But, how do youmake the most of what Woodrow Wil-son is offering you? The way to do this

is to GET INVOLVED! Join one -two-

three or more of the committees thatWoodrow Wilson has to offer. Commit-

tees that do everything from helping

clean up campus to plan dances for the

students. When I first came here I was abit shy which many of you may

be when you first

come to a new placethat you are unfamil-

iar with. I eventuallyopened up and I was-n't afraid anymore to

talk to people and get

involved. I joinedPeer Mediation

Counseling, Activi-

ties Committee,Dorm Committee,

and I got involved

in being an ambassa-

dor. And I'm just likeanybody else, so if I

can do it, you can

definitely do it. Andso my fellow students

ask not what Wood-

row Wilson can do for you, ask whatyou can do for Woodrow Wilson! That

is how you will get the most out of your

time at Woodrow Wilson. Never forget

that you are not alone here, not by a long

shot. The faculty, staff, and student lead-ers of this campus are always available

to help you. You hopefully got to ex-

perience this on Monday when one of

the ambassadors helped you move in. Ifyou need help, don't be afraid to ask.

Look around over the next few days,

there will be students with red name tagsthat say WWRC Ambassador. If you

need help with anything, ask one of us.

It is my promise to help you. Hopefully

we'll help you with whatever you need,and you might want to come back and

help others yourself. I know from ex-

perience what you are thinking rightnow... how long is this email going to be

and how much longer am I going to go

on? I know you have a lot of stuff to do.

You just got to college and you have the rest of your life ahead of you, new friendships to form, relationships

to cherish, and a campus to explore. But before I end this email, let me give you some advice, some advice thatI could have used when I first came to Woodrow Wilson. Don't be afraid to be yourself, try to be open-minded,

be aware, be active, be studious, have a great time and most importantly, don't forget to call your parents and

loved ones often, and only occasionally asking for money.

Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center is a fine institu-

tion to be a part of. The Student Government Associa-

tion and SGA Activities Committee works hard for all of

you students. We welcome suggestions and ideas from

every student at WWRC. We would like more students

to be involved in the content of the Old Ragtime News

Newsletter. We are looking for students to submit arti-

cles and ideas to the e-mail addresses listed above.

Come out and enjoy the activities that we have planned

for you, come participate in the committees, submit
