Day 2We got up early and took a bus to three places. The first was Stonehenge.
It is the oldest structure still standing and it is an awesome sight.
In 3050BC a circular ditch with a bank was constructed. In 2600BC a wooden structure was added at the center. Between 2500-1000BC
the stone monument was constructed and then re-arranged.
My feet got tired so I decided to take a break and sit down on a rock!
The larger stones are called Sarsen stones and they came from Marlborough about 19 miles away. The smaller stones which are the inside circle are the Blue stones. They are from the Preseli Mountains in Wales 240 miles away!
It was raining when we were at Stonehenge but me mum could always find me in me bright yellow slicker.
This was called the Heel Stone and it was set apart from the ring of stones that make up the two circles.
In the area surrounding the circular structure there were mounds. These were burial mounds and entire houses would be buried when the family had all died.
