with respect to Jesus. When Christian scholars during the mid-1800s began using critical literary techniques to study Christian texts, they ignored first and second-century Jewish writings that could have counterbalanced the unfavorable image of Jews and Judaism. After the Holocaust, new understandings arose as to how the social, political, and economic dynamics of Jesus’ times affected the Christian portrayal of first-century Judaism. The book Modern Jews Engage the New Testament provides a scholarly and reasonable counter to past Christian interpretations. A bestseller in Christian bookstores, it was originally intended for Jewish readers. Using this book, critically examine and discuss the portrayal of the Jews in Christian Scripture and discover why Jews never accepted the Gospel’s “Good News.”

The Seven Principles of Huna WisdomCome along on a journey through a philosophy of healing—mental, emotional, and spiritual—embedded in the lore of the ancient Kahunas (“keepers of the secrets”). They are the healers, priests, shamans, to whom are attributed miraculous healings. Huna means secrets. Learn the seven principles behind those healings. Lack of ability is no deterrent to success. You have a right to appropriate and harmonious relationships with business associates, students, teachers, family members, friends, and in love and marriage. Learn where your power to succeed originates, and the part that desire, appropriately managed, plays in your successes and your joy. This interactive course is designed to embed “The Seven Principles” as a natural part of your lifestyle so that the principles stay on automatic pilot. Don’t be a victim to life’s circumstances, however cumbersome they might be.

Spanish for TravelersSpanish is the second-most spoken language worldwide, so if you travel, you should understand and speak essential Spanish. Learn how to converse in basic Spanish sentences, ask questions, ask for directions, and navigate in a Spanish-speaking environment. We begin with a review of important elements, such as vocabulary, verb conjugation, and reflexives, using the textbook, Spanish in 10 Minutes a Day. However, the main thrust of the course is to help you converse with each other at a level that’s comfortable. As usual, the class is reinforced with the diverse cultural aspects of Spain and Latin America using DVDs, videos, CDs, descriptive

booklets, and objects. We may have a Mexican fiesta/luncheon near end of class. The icing on the cake is a luncheon at a Mexican restaurant with Spanish-speaking waiters, offering students an opportunity to practice their newly-learned skills by ordering from their menu in Spanish! Bienvenidos!!

Still in the Game: Show & TeachYou’ve still got it—put it to use! Show someone who doesn’t know. Everyone has a unique talent. You’re good at what you do. But just being able to do something doesn’t necessarily mean you can teach it. A good teacher-student can teach you to show others so they understand, too. Half the battle is knowing what questions to ask and how to answer them. The other half is practice. Get both with this course. In four class sessions, we’ll explore what you’d like to show others to be able to do. Anticipate and write out questions and how you might answer them. Practice teaching the instructor—the teacher-student. Finally, you’re ready for “The Big Game,” where you show and teach. If you have an audience for the final class, bring them. If you want one, we’ll find one.

Talking So Young Peacocks Hear“When I was 15, my parents were fools. When I was 20, they had a few good ideas. Now I’m 25, and I realize they are GENIUS.”

The ages may differ, but the truth remains—it’s hard for young people to acknowledge and appreciate the wisdom of the experienced. Society looks down upon age, placing more value on the latest thing, even when new fixes create more problems than they solve. From the perspective of a young man with an old soul, discover how to move around the proud-peacock attitude of those who think they know it all. This course teaches you to talk so the peacock will listen. You know, you understand, and you offer tremendous value with that knowledge and experience. Help your message be received. In the process, you may find sharing between your generation and others can build a greater understanding for both.
