    problem(s).

    Troubleshooting

BatteryBatteryThe camera does not work even when batteries areinstalled.

Insert recharged batteries in the correct direction.

Inserting the battery and the SD/SDHC memorycard (sold separately) (p. 12), Charging the

battery and setting up using the supplied CD(p. 13), Charging the battery with the suppliedUSB-AC adapter (p. 16)

Battery performance may have been reducedtemporarily due to low temperature. Take thebatteries out of the camera, and warm them by

putting them in your pocket for a while.

Condensation*1 may have occurred. Turn off thepower, and wait for the camera body to becomeacclimated to the surrounding temperature and dryout before taking pictures.*1 Dew drops can form in the camera when it is

suddenly taken from a cold location into a warm,

    humid room.

Vertical lines appear on the screen.

This condition may occur when the camera ispointed at an extremely bright subject under a clear

sky and so on. The lines do not appear, however,in the final image.

The light is caught in the picture.

Shooting with flash in dark situations results in animage with many flash reflections on dust in the air.

If the batteries are removed and left out of thecamera for about a day*2, the date and time

settings return to the default setting, and mustbe reset.*2 The time until the date and time settings return to

This camera uses one Olympus lithium ion battery(LI-70B). No other type of batteries can be used.

Caution:There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced

with the incorrect battery type.Dispose of the used battery following the instructions.(p. 66)

Power consumption by the camera varies depending on

    which functions are used.

During the conditions described below, power is

consumed continuously and the battery becomesexhausted quickly.

The zoom is used repeatedly. The shutter button is pressed halfway repeatedly inshooting mode, activating the auto focus.A picture is displayed on the monitor for an extendedperiod of time.

The camera is connected to a printer.

Using an exhausted battery may cause the camera to

turn off without displaying the battery level warning. The rechargeable battery is not fully charged at the timeof purchase. Use the supplied F-2AC USB-AC adapter(hereafter referred to as USB-AC adapter) to charge thebattery before use.

When the included USB-AC adapter is used, chargingusually takes approximately 3 hours (varies on usage).

The supplied USB-AC adapter is for charging andplayback only. Do not take pictures while the USB-AC

    Using your USB-AC adapter abroad

The USB-AC adapter can be used in most homeelectrical sources within the range of 100 V to 240 V AC(50/60Hz) around the world. However, depending on thecountry or area you are in, the AC wall outlet may beshaped differently and the USB-AC adapter may requirea plug adapter to match the wall outlet. For details, ask

at your local electrical shop or travel agent.Do not use travel voltage converters as they coulddamage your USB-AC adapter.
