Oman Wastewater Legislations, Codes and Standards

• The applicable legislation for use of TE for

irrigation – Ministerial Decision 145 / 1993: Regulations for wastewater re-use and

discharge. This Decision specifies the required quality of TreatedEffluent to be re-used for various types of irrigation and others. It also

specifies the required sludge standards.

 – Royal Decree No. 115/2001: Issuing law on Protection of sources of

potable water from pollution. This Decree specifies the standards for

discharge of non-household liquid waste into sewage system (i.e.industrial discharge).

Salalah Sanitary Drainage Services Company

• The main purposes of the Company are:

 – Establishment of a network assembly and transportation of the

sewage project for the City of Salalah.

 –The establishment of any future expansion of this network to coverthe entire city of Salalah.

 – The establishment of any future expansions in the treatment plant.

 – Ownership, management and operation and maintenance of the

assembly, transport and treatment plant and the current network of

groundwater recharge, and any future expansions.
