Venus is moving out on you, which seems to indicate you’re going to get dumped. Why not beat up/chain the other ‘alf to the bed or kitchen table, get all your grubby littlefantasises exorcised and then move on rejoicing? Oh, it seems you’re overworked andunderpaid too, so things don’t look too good. Alone, stressed and skint. Ain’t life justtoo hard sometimes? Look at Jesus.

If things are not going to smoothly in life, take the positive approach: punch people whoare getting up your nose in the mouth. Beware of your bull’s breath, a euphemism forhalitosis - it can kill at ten paces. Apparently becoming a chocaholic might help, but thenyou’ll only get fatter than you already are.

Gifts can be given and received at the same time, but your tendency to compare the qualityof what you have received against the magnificence of what you gave, always seems tolead to fights. Fortunately, you always lose. For some reason dieting does not help you loseweight, but weight loss can be very detrimental to your health. If you ask the next deadperson you meet, they’ll be sure to say, “yeh that’s right, I’m dead thin”.

It’s no good you getting hot under the collar about anything really, because no one givesa toss what you think in the first place. The difference between you and your peers setsyou apart. Which is why we are desperately trying to relocate you to Libya or some otherholiday hot spot.

I seems that you’re in the mood for a good shop. You need to zip round the hand bags, wallets etc, left carelessly around your work place, pinch all the credit/debit cards and gofor it. This may add to the reasons why you get continually beaten up, but hey ho, you’llhave indulged your spendthrift needs.

LIBRA September 23 - October 22That tart Venus is moving out on you too - bloody women!! So possibly you need to teamup with the nearest Aries person to you and get it out of your systems. PS. I can marketthe video if it’s dirty enough. You’d be surprised who likes a bit of porn in a house of illrepute in Park Street.

SCORPIO October 23 - November 21

mysticmike Mystical monthlypredictions

SAGITTARIUS November 22 - December 21

Ah, shame, you seem to be at the end of your tether. Are things mounting up and you’refinding it hard to cope? Bless. Isn’t it terrible when this happens? You can’t find anyoneto help or share the problems. Oh deary, deary me……I was nearly welling up, but Idon’t give a toss either.

CAPRICORN December 22 - January 19I know how hard it is to accept that you’re crap at everything, but how much proof do youneed?? More than you’ve had to date apparently, because you haven’t done the decentthing yet and dug yourself a hole below the high water mark and pulled a stone over yourhead. If at first you don’t succeed etc, is a load of bollocks where you are concerned.

AQUARIUS January 20 - February 18 A horoscope is impossible to create for someone as thick as you!! Sorry. Flashing lightsin your line of vision are only the results of drug abuse and alcoholism. Attracting seagullswith fish in order to shoot them is not destined to win that bird/geezer you tried to cop ofwith recently, into your bed.

PISCES February 19 - March 20

The only way of getting the money repaid to you that you loaned your mate is going to beto beat her/him unconscious and to go through their pockets. Don’t worry, I know you’ve gotno bottle, but wait until their back is turned or have bent down to pick up a casually thrownfiver in front of them. A lot of people will celebrate your arrest for this cowardly act. The anti-stalking court orders that have been applied for will all come into force as you read this.

Oh, bugger, another bleedin’ heart trying to patch things up by appearing to be especiallynice to your family!! Did one of them, or probably all of them, seem a little disinclinedto be fooled by your false appearance of humility and regret. That’s because they knowfull well that your disgusting sexual appetite cannot be trusted to rear its ugly self againand that the animals on the farm will never be safe. See what I mean, oh the poor cat.

TAURUS April 20 - May 20

GEMINI May 21 - June 20

CANCER June 21 - July 22

LEO July 23 - August 22

VIRGO August 23 - September 22

ARIES March 21 - April 19

The opening of the latest Dragon, the Rose & Crown in Brentwood, attracted some famous visitors last month!

Billie and Sam Faiers turned up to samplethe pub’s fantastic thai menu, beforeheading out to Funky Buddha in Mayfair.

The two girls tweeted about their mealand seemed to be very impressed withOrchid’s latest offering!

The lovely Jo Probert got right in there withthe girls, and even got a photo with them!We think she looks right at home! Will webe seeing you cavorting with MickNorcross soon Jo?!

THE ONLY WAY IS ORCHIDFOR TOWIE’S GIRLS!

Wake up! The reason you get so many knock backs is because you’re entirely repulsive to theopposite sex. Now if you haven’t thought of coming out, this might be the time, unless youalready have and that doesn’t work either. In which case, suicide is painless, so they say. However, don’t change your mind half way through as screaming will be fruitless. Yourneighbours will assume you are being murdered and want your killer to get a good head start.

Upon arrival we were treated to a glass of Laurent PerrierUltra Brut champagne and an introduction from theevening’s hosts, Deputy Manager Fae Vincent and Orchid’sAccount Manager from Bibendum Jamie Ford.We were then

led to our seats and received some olives and bread to keep the hungerat bay whilst pondering what edible and potable delights we wouldchose from the set menu. My three fellow diners and I each chose thechilli tiger prawn on ciabatta with rocket salad to start, and themushroom and spinach stuffed lamb loin served with dauphinoisepotatoes, asparagus spears and a rosemary jus for our main. It was atough decision; every dish on the carefully crafted menu was mouth-wateringly appealing.

The first wine accompanied our prawns and was a refreshing whitecalled ‘Tomas Cusine Auzells', from Costes del Segre, Spain; made froma wide variety of grapes including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling,Chardonnay, Macabeo and the local Paralleda. It suited the starterperfectly, displaying Jamie’s stellar wine matching techniques. Theprawns were delicious and succulent, with just enough chilli to givethem a good kick. For the next course we received a red to complimentour lamb, named D’Arenberg ‘Sticks and Stones’ Tempranillo. As Jamieexplained this was a clever blend of Tempranillo (the Rioja grape),Grenache and Shiraz that produces a wonderfully deep and rich winewith soft, supple tannins that go perfectly with the soft, juicy lamb. The presentation of our main was impeccable and the mushroom andspinach went perfectly with the lamb.

If you haven’t already been to St. Kat’s docks, you should definitely make the stroll past theTower of London to have a peek at thischarming quadrant of shops and restaurants, which surround a collection of very swishboats. With October creeping in and the lightnights and last rays of sunshine vanishingrapidly, The Living Room was hosting the aptlytitled evening ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. The idea behind the evening was to serve bespoke Living Room meals with perfect wine counterparts, courtesy of Bibendum.

LASTOF THE SUMMERWINE

On Monday the 20th September I made my way to the delightful

Living Room Tower Bridge, which finds itself nestled snugly

in St. Katherine’s Docks.

The penultimate wine was a mixture of Cabernet Sauvignon andSangiovese and accompanied a trio of English cheeses, which consisted ofWest-country Cheddar, Leicester Stilton, and English Brie. This wasfollowed by a peach tarte with Cornish dairy vanilla ice cream and sweetafter dessert wine from Walker Bay South Africa: Newton Johnson lateharvest Chenin Blanc.

Well done to all the Living Room Tower Bridge team for this fabulousevent, I hope they do more - preferably on a larger scale! We left feelingfully sated and with our taste buds worked to the max, if you can I highlyrecommend you get yourself down to one of these evenings!

It’s what Ultimate know, what they do best and what they live for fromthe day the students leave for Summer to the minute the fresh facesarrive in September, and this year they are doing it bigger and betterthan ever before. We’ve already seen queues of 3,000 Freshers outsidean already at capacity Halo, sell out events, celebrity appearances, foam and UV cannons bigger and better than ever before andexclusive bar tours of over 3,000 freshers, not to mention budgets andsales forecasts smashed like a Jagerbomb in the hands of Andy Carroll.

Beach Club GM, Brian Townley says “We’ve had a reallysuccessful Freshers Fortnight opening seven nights a week this year tomaximize sales. We’ve had some great support from suppliersincluding Red Bull and Bacardi that have really helped add value andcontent into our new student sessions. The launch of our newWednesday session ‘Sound as a Pound’ has stormed with a full houseeach week which is very encouraging considering the sheer amount ofcompetition as bars & clubs scrabble for the student pound. TheFreshers Fayres went great this year and the impressive back drops andscratch card competition mechanic went down a treat with thefreshers.”

All Ultimate Bars and Clubs had huge exposure at Freshers Fayresacross the Country including Newcastle, Northumbria, Durham,Leeds, Sunderland, Huddersfield and many more. The stands lookedamazing with full sized back drops featuring each venues own studentsessions, ULOVEIT privilege card awareness and giant QRcodes to take smart phone users straight through to our studentcompetition fan page. With over 4,000 Freshers through the doors infour hours at Newcastle alone, the Fayres provided the perfectopportunity for the guys to promote their venues to their futurecustomers…and that they did! As well as promoting their student sessions, PA’s and giving out 600free ULOVEIT Bar and Club Privilege Cards they also gave freshersthe chance to win some cool branded prizes through a quirky scratchcard mechanic. Fresher’s loved scratching the panels to reveal theirprize of either a neon ion watch, white earphones, an iphone cover, adrawstring bag and many other quality branded prizes. Of course theythanked us by filling in their data so we can keep them in the loop withloads of student events, discounts and promos throughout the year and walked away sporting their new merchandise emblazoned withour logos! To assist in our quest for lots of lovely freshers data we also armed our promo teams with four iPads so they could target the thousands

of freshers waiting to get into the fayres and use them on site to ensure our regular email and SMS communications are hitting asmany freshers as possible.

Once again Halo hosted their very own official Freshers Fayre inassociation with Leeds City Council. PBR joined forces this year towork together and create their first ‘Leeds Premier Venues StudentPrivilege Band’ a wristband offering the students of Leeds lots ofrelevant discounts, offers and promotions at some of Leeds mostpopular bars, restaurants and clubs. The sexy black and goldwristbands were clamped onto fresher’s wrists throughout the Halo &Leeds Met Fayres and accompanied by an equally sexy booklet full ofstudent friendly promotions. The band can be used at Halo, QuiltedLlama, PKB Call Lane, Prohibition and The Living Room.

The Ultimate Team includingManagement, Bar Teams, DJ’s,Promo Teams and Dancersalike have been in hardcoretraining throughout theSummer preparing theirminds, bodies and venues for an onslaught like no other -no it’s not Hen & Stag Season,or the start of the FootballSeason - or even the Orchid Christmas Party … It’s much, much BIGGER, it’s Freshers Fortnight!!!

FRESHERSFRENZY!!!!

Students have a combined spending power of more than £10 billion.

An average student spends over £5,000 a year onnon-essentials.

Students are certainly the most profitable group of 18-24 year olds.

With 3.2 million people in higher education in theUK, students are a valuable and potentially lucrative group of consumers. In addition to this, trends suggest their leisure timespending is increasing, having doubled in the past 6 years.

In Newcastle one in six ofthe population are students

There are approximately32,000 students atNorthumbria University & 20,500 at NewcastleUniversity, that’s 52,500students in Newcastle alone!

STUDENTS=BIG MONEY!

Ultimate’s Newcastle bars and clubs were also lucky enough to secure anexclusive bar tour with Newcastle University which saw over 3,000freshers march their way from Chase, The Lodge, City Vaults and finallypiling into Bambu for one massive Newcastle party! Never before havethey offered this to one operator so a massive well done to everyoneinvolved for smashing it, showing the freshers of 2011/12 what Ultimateis all about. General Manager, Dawn Cameron Wright at ChaseNewcastle says “Chase saw an uplift of almost £3,500 vs. the samedate last year and we sold over 165 bottles of Vodka in less than 2hours so overall very worth while!!”

So, from weekly events such as ‘Game Over’ the No1 Sports Partyand Official Sponsors of Team Northumbria at Bambu everyWednesday, to ‘Voodoo Project’ the Winner of Leeds Best Student Nightevery Saturday at Halo, the Ultimate guys are really raising their profileto become the very best student venues in their towns and cities. As partof Ultimate’s pledge to make their venues the No1 choice forstudents by giving them ‘a reason to visit’ and differentiatingthemselves from other high street competitors, they continue to invest inpopular culture content to give back to their customers and providerelevant entertainment in their bars and clubs. We’ve had PA’s from theInbetweeners, performances from Rev Run and even 5ive but therereally was only one choice this September, it’s the name on everyone’slips, it’s non other than TOWIE! And further more the biggest star of the

BAFTA winning show, ‘Reem’ boy JOEY ESSEX! Ultimatevenues including Bambu, Halo, The Cotton Factory and Coyote Wild all hosted freshers events featuring personal appearances from Joey Essex whojudged dance competitions and posed and pouted for thecameras with his masses of Reem girls and guys. He alsopresented TOWIE themed room makeover kits to luckywinners of Ultimate’s national press competition so fresherscould have a piece of Essex glam in their own halls. Look outfor Ultimate’s next national tour for Halloween featuring 7dates with Navi, the World’s No1 MJ impersonator, moonwalking his way to a town or city near you! In the words ofour very own Joey Essex, Mr Solanki “You only get one biteof the cherry” and this year the cherry is all Ultimate’s…

OMG! NEWS IN BRIEF

The Cricketers, Grimsby, hosted a Help for Heroes Charity Fun Day lastmonth, in aid of our soldiers fighting abroad. Two local families who havesadly lost their sons in Afghanistan went to open the event. The dayincluded a sponsored 24 hour pool and darts tournament, several bouncycastles, tombola stalls, raffles, cake stalls and all sorts of fun activities inFuzzy Ed’s for the children to do. Also on offer to help raise money weremajorettes and belly dancers who performed in the pub. All of theCricketers’ staff worked really hard and looked fantastic in their fancydress costumes.

Manager Kirsty Tighe comments: “Despite the terrible weather we allcontinued to battle on and have a great time! The people of Grimsbyshowed great support by still getting involved and we made over £1000for Help for Heroes. It was lovely that the two local families turned up, Ihope they enjoyed the day just as much as we did”.

“There was a great feel of community throughout the pub; even theGrimsby Telegraph was happy to come down for the afternoon so theycould put something positive into the paper”.

Well done to Kirsty and all the team at the Cricketers, the day looked a brilliant success!

STRANGE GOINGS ON AT THE REDLION INN IN KIDLINGTON…It’s not all about HDTV, 3D TV and bigscreens for driving sales for the team atThe Red lion Kidlington; Lisa and Chris,General Managers of the Independentlocal pub, have introduced somethingnew (well, old, but new); Aunt Sally. What is it we hear you cry?! Read on tofind out more...

HERE’S OMG’S GUIDE TO THE GAMEAunt Sally is a traditional throwinggame. The term is often usedmetaphorically to mean something that isa target for criticism. In particular, referring to the fairground origins as thegame was traditionally played in Britishpubs and fairgrounds. An Aunt Sally wasoriginally a figurine head of an oldwoman with a clay pipe in her mouth, or subsequently a ball on a stick. Thereare also other theories on how the gamestarted, one such theory is that a livechicken was placed on the stick, andpeople would throw sticks at it. Whoeverkilled it, won, and took home thechicken. Another theory is that inOxfordshire Port meadow at the time ofthe cavaliers, the cavaliers were boredwith nothing to do and formed a gamewith sticks and makeshift materialssimilar to what the game is today. The object was for players to throw sticksat the head in order to break the pipe. The game bears some resemblance to acoconut shy or skittles.

Today, the game of Aunt Sally is stillplayed as a pub game in Oxfordshire,Warwickshire, Berkshire andBuckinghamshire.

The ball is on a short plinth about 10cmhigh, and is known as a 'dolly'. The dollyis placed on a dog-legged metal spike ametre high and players throw sticks orshort battens at the dolly, trying to knockit off without hitting the spike.

Successfully hitting the dolly off isknown as a "doll", however if the spike ishit first then the score does not count andis called an "iron".

The pub only started playing this year, and has two teams that play weekly. It's setup outside in the garden. The sticks arebrought in and each stick is a specificweight. They play every Wednesday, with30-40 customers playing. It’s good fordrink sales and the matches promote fourpint pitcher deals. It runs 8.30 - 10pm.Season is may-end September. There areeight players per team, and each teammember throws 6 sticks each. Players getone point for every doll they knock offand there is a maximum of six points perplayer, per match. Winning team has thebest score out of three matches. Joint PubManager Lisa Finnegan comments, “We currently have two teams and we'relooking into having the pub represent four teams next season”.

General Manager Brendan Eschle andthe team at the Walmer Castle (ourDragon in Notting Hill) were one team(along with the Welsh & Irish) who trulywere prepared for the Rugby World Cup.Unfortunately there was one team who didrun out off puff at the cricial moment….but not this one at the Walmer! OMG!salutes you; our sales heroes!

Manager Brendan explains: “Due to theawkward kick off times, it was critical thatwe hatched our plan early and got themessage out there that we were screeningthe Rugby World Cup. We had to‘challenge the status quo’ and the localWalkabout for every Rugby pound! First, make sure your customer’s know what’scoming up and what you’re offering…“Then, be sure your team can produce thegoods! Crucially for a businessthat normally goes to bed as thepostman gets up, make sure eventhe most bleary eyed bar tendercan explain the menu to yourtarget market…

“Then, with a bit of luck, you’re sure to score pounds inthe till, punters in the bar andcrucial word of mouthsupport for your pub as the‘Home of Sport’ in yourarea… we made up to £500sales on each of the Englandmatches, worth getting out ofbed for! We’ve welcome in some new customers for thesematches, so our efforts will also hopefully have aknock on effect for othersports! Roll on the yearof the sport!”
