I have to say that OmniTrader’s charts are the most full-featured in the industry. For OmniTrader 2021, we improved them again by adding the ability to plot a Moving Average on any Indicator. This is important because traders often use Indicator Crossovers to confirm trades.

We also made it easy to see the Data Window without the crosshairs. I personally LOVE this feature because now every chart can have the Data Window activated, and I don’t have to keep clicking the mouse to get it. We also separated Horizontal and Vertical Grid Lines so they could be activated independently.

The Alligator Indicator will help you instantly understand where you are in the trend of any market. In the above chart of Apple, two major trends occurred, one from mid-June to late July 2019, and the second from early September to late November.

In each of these trends, the lines are spaced apart, and price is above all three. It’s so easy to see. If price drops to the Jaws (blue line) but does not penetrate it (as in early October), that is a great time to add to positions. And as the lines come back together, the Alligator is said to be full and the trend is likely to be over.

Since we created the plug-in, I have been using the Alligator Indicator in my charts and I have to say it’s the best trend indicator I’ve ever seen.

In his book, “New Trading Dimensions” BillWilliams suggests that chaos theory and fractalgeometry provide insights into market behavior thatcannot be gleaned any other way. Using this concepthe developed the amazing Alligator Indicator.

The Alligator is a visually powerful tool that allowstraders to take advantage of the most profitable partsof a trade. It’s based on three shifted movingaverages called the “Lips”, “Teeth”, and “Jaws” ofthe Alligator, drawn as Green, Red and Blue lines.

Simple Yet Powerful

If the Teeth and Jaw cross each other multiple times,the Alligator is said to be sleeping, indicating that themarket is trendless.

As the Lips and Teeth begin to separate, we see thebeginning of an uptrend (the Alligator is waking).Finally, as price moves above the Lips the Alligator issaid to be eating – a strong trend is underway!

The Three Wise Men Trading Strategy

Use The Three Wise Men for EOD Stocks, Real Time Stocks, and Forex!

The Three Wise Men uses the Alligator Indicator, and is designed to take advantage of the trending nature of markets.

It’s basically a long-term Strategy that continues to add to position size as the trend continues, thereby maximizing profits taken in the move. It employs an incremental approach (Three Wise Men) so we can get into the trend early without too much early risk.

The First Wise Man

A “Divergent Bar” is used to determine a likely reversal. It’s basically a reversal in trend in which the current bar makes a new Low, but closes in the upper part of its range, indicating new Bullishness. The pattern must also form beneath the Alligator (indicating an extreme oversold situation). The top image to the right shows what we are looking for.

The Second Wise Man

The second important signal to enter the market is based on the Awesome Oscillator, a 34-bar simple moving average of typical (median) price subtracted from a 5-bar simple moving average.

The indicator looks like a histogram consisting of red and green bars. A series of green bars is a buy signal, and red bars is a sell signal. We watch for 3 consecutive green (uptrend) or red (downtrend) and at that point, add to (double) our position.

The Third Wise Man

The final Signal in the Wise Men Sequence is called a Fractal Signal, and occurs on a bar where the market has pulled back (if long) and then ascends again, taking out the high bar. At this point we can add to our position again, cushioned by prior gains.

The Third Wise Man is typically where most of the profit comes from, unless the Trailing Stop takes it out (which is how the Strategy is configured). Or, as Williams says, Exits can be placed at the lowest low of the 3 of 5 preceding bars in the trend.

The Three Wise Men is a great Trend-following method. It’s unique structure and additive nature help it make large gains in this market.

The Three Wise Men provide a great Trading Strategy for any market, including Stocks End of Day and Real Time and as well as Forex. One of the most powerful things about the Three Wise Men is the way it accumulates position size. The vertical lines on these charts show where the position size is being increased as the trend is confirmed for very profitable long term trades.

Improvements That Make OmniTrader 2021 EVEN BETTER!

Bill Williams’s work didn’t end with the Alligator or the Three Wise Men. He made extensive use of two Momentum Indicators that he created for powerful short-term systems.

Acceleration (AC) is created as the difference between the 5 and 34 period EMAs of price plotted as a histogram. The Awesome Oscillator (AO) is formed by creating a 9-period trigger line histogram of AC.

These two indicators were used to create four different Trading Systems (shown below). We took those systems and used them for signal generation in the Gator Short Term Strategy. This strategy takes advantage of price movement when momentum increases or changes direction.

The Gator Short Term Strategy is highly accurate, showing a Hit Rate of over 73% on the stocks in the S&P 100 over the last five years! Swing traders will love the signals generated by this strategy as it allows them to profit from the dynamics of momentum.

There are several improvements that came from user requests, surveys, and staff members that have made the program so much easier to use. The last one re: OmniScans came from me, and I’m a happy man!

Keeping the Engine Running Smoothly.

OmniTrader is a dynamic program, which means it creates assets all the time at the user’s direction, such as Quick Indicators, Scans, Indicator Columns in the Focus List and more. These OmniLanguage elements grow over time and may cause slowness. OmniTrader 2021 now “cleans up” and eliminates older versions, so the program keeps running at its original speed.

And – of great importance to me and anyone working in OmniScans – as you edit your Scans the software will now wait for you to push “Update” before it tries to update the Scan you are working on.

Define your OmniScan, line by line or change the Sort metric without having to wait for it to run on the entire market in between steps. This one improvement has saved me as much as 30 minutes in a single day!

There are several seemingly small changes that just make things better, like error handling. It used to be that OmniTrader would bring up several pop-ups if you typed an invalid symbol. Now it is just one message.

And if you write OmniScript or OmniLanguage, you will be happy to know that the Compiler is now much smarter and will tell you WHERE issues are occurring within your OmniLanguage components (Systems, Indicators, or Stops) so errors are easier to identify and correct.

This chart for NVDA shows Gator Short Term trades. Both of these trades were generated by the AC Against Momentum System (see below) which detects early changes in momentum. This shows how powerful the momentum change concept is for capturing short term profits.
