Recognizing ongoing civil unrest among our com-
munity sparked by the death of George Floyd, the
Dallas Area Paralegal Association values all of its
members and supports the rights of all citizens to pro-
test grievances peacefully and lawfully. Racial injustice
occurs all too frequently across our nation, and the
association condemns any conduct that fosters racism.
DAPA invites you to provide comments or feed-
back on how our efforts can further support meaningful change and
eliminate the racial divide that plagues our community. As a member
of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), DAPA is
in partnership with NFPA’s statement on racial injustice, which can be
found here: www.paralegals.org.
Regarding the ongoing pandemic, DAPA will continue to provide
remote learning experiences as the Belo Mansion remains closed
through June 30th, 2020. DAPA’s Board of Directors has determined
that DAPA will not host any in-person events before August 2020.
Please continue to look out for emails announcing Remote CLEs
and other online learning opportunities. DAPA will continue to moni-
tor updates from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, the Texas Department of
State Health Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Preven-
tion to plan a safe strategy for reopening.
If you have concerns regarding racial injustice or the coronavirus
pandemic, please contact me at [email protected].

Dallas Area Paralegal Association
The Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA) was formed on October 23, 1976 as the

organization that represents approximately 10,000 paralegals nationwide. DAPA is a
voluntary non-profit corporation composed of paralegals working in all areas of the law,
who are interested in furthering their own professional development, especially
through PACE® and other voluntary certifications, and who are dedicated to the advance-
ment of the paralegal profession as a whole.

DAPA's Mentor-Protégé Program is committed to promoting professionalism and career devel-
opment, as well as instilling high ethical behavior in paralegals that are new to the profession. We
are here to contribute to the success of, as well as set the standards for, new paralegals and parale-
