Erosion The wearing away of soil and rock by water, wind, or ice

Flood Plains Land that is covered with water during a flood, formed from sediment deposited by a river

Glaciers A large mass of moving ice and snow

Gravity The force that pulls all objects towards the center of the Earth

Ice Wedging The process by which water seeps into cracks in rocks and then freezes, the expanding ice causes the rocks to split and crack

Topographical Map A drawing that shows elevation Tributary A stream flowing into another stream or river

Valley An area of low land between hills and mountains

Weathering The action of the wind, water, temperature changes, and other factors in breaking down rocks into smaller pieces
