Certificates and diplomas issued by the Burbank Adult School will not be replaced, so please be sure to make a copy for your records. Fees and Refunds - In the event that a class is cancelled OR if a student chooses to withdraw from a class at least two business days prior to the class start date, the student will be entitled to a full refund. The refund may take up to three weeks to process. The fee for each class follows the course title. Checks, money orders, credit cards, and cash will be accepted. Returned checks will be charged a $20 fee payable in cash only. There is a $10 processing fee for all refunds not due to class cancellations. No refunds will be issued to any student after the first scheduled class session (including no shows). There are no refunds for class materials and/or books purchased by students. Customizing Online Photo Books (5 sessions, 06/08-07/13/2021, no class 06/22/2021) Fee: $49950500 Tuesday 9:00 am-12:00 pm BAS/F600 Sheetz Wondering what to do with all your digital photos? Whether it’s birthdays, weddings, vacations or even recipe books, creating photo books is a great way to keep your memories at hand. This class will introduce the options in choosing which online company to use along with teaching you how to customize your photo book pages using Photoshop. Digital papers, elements, and clip art will be provided. Please bring an 8-gig flash drive with pictures you would like to make a book with.

Introductory Guitar (6 sessions, 06/07-07/19/2021, no class 07/05/2021) Fee: $59993011 Monday 10:00 am-11:00 am Distance Learning Lombardi The curriculum designed for the absolute beginner is based on Mr. Lombardi’s video course which will be an aid to the live streaming class. Should the class time be in conflict with your working schedule no worries, you’ll have access to Mr. Lombardi’s contacts and to the video course on a YouTube channel only available to paying students! After laying down the foundation, the program will get you all the way up to performing easy songs. You MUST have access to a guitar on a daily basis.

That’s right, you’ll now have the chance to learn the fourth most studied language in the world in the most authentic way! Our teacher, Mr. Lombardi, will be in Venezia giving you the “real experience” no one else could! Due to the time zone difference, the class will be offered daytime (PDT). Should that conflict with your schedule, no worries, you’ll have access to Mr. Lombardi’s contacts and to the recorded class, which will be posted on a dedicated YouTube channel only available to paying students.

Beginners, however, will also benefit from a broad-based curriculum and immersion in multiple areas of the entertainment industry. Covered work will include scene study, monologues, audition technique, improvisation, movement, vocal variety, and commercial work. Students should expect to devote ample time outside of class for script memorization, research, and rehearsals with scene partners.

The exam is designed to certify the competency of entry-level PC computer service professionals in installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers training. Our curriculum is designed to prepare students as tech support specialists. Instruction includes computer repair, introduction to basic computer theory, hardware components of a computer system, motherboards, microprocessors, memory, hard drives, sound, video, and wireless adapters. Maintenance of operating systems such as Windows 7 and above, cloning and data recovery, antivirus, and spyware will also be covered, as well as network basics, network equipment, wireless, servers, and sharing resources as well. This is an excellent beginning course for students wanting to become certified, enter the IT field, and/or the networking classes.

CONSTRUCTIONElectrician 2 (10 weeks/39 sessions, 06/14-08/19/2021; no class 07/05/2021)662611 M - Th 6:00 pm-9:00 pm Distance Learning Staff This electrical course stresses job readiness through intense hands-on lab work and exercises covering wiring design, materials, methods and tools, as well as wiring codes, permit requirements, compliance and workplace safety. This competency-based course is for electrician trainees. It provides students with technical instruction and practical experience in electrical wiring and codes. It focuses on safety, permit requirements and code compliance, wiring design and protection, wiring materials and methods, equipment for general use, special occupancies, special equipment, special conditions, communication systems sanctioned by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the interpretation of data found in the NEC tables. It also covers a review of the practical aspects of resource management when wiring. Students will receive technical instruction and practical experience in electrical concepts and trade mathematics. Students will develop a solid theoretical and practical foundation of Electricity which will launch them into the Electrical Industry prepared to test and join the Local Electrical Trade Union, Civil Service and private industry employment. Computer skills will be necessary in today’s work environment. Thus, both a computer and a stable internet connection is required. Students will be responsible for purchasing their own hand tools and lab materials which will cost approximately $400. Students will be provided with the tools & materials list and are expected to set up a mini lab in their home to perform the labs. Prerequisite: successful completion of Electrician 1 course or instructor approval.

BURBANk ADULT SChOOL IS TRANSITIONING BACk TO IN-PERSON LEARNING

Burbank Adult School is offering only a few classes online. Please check this catalog for which courses will be offered online or in-person this summer. In order to maintain social distancing per CDC guidelines, enrollment for in-person classes will be limited. All persons on campus, teachers, staff and students are required to wear masks covering mouth and nose at all times. Temperature checks may be required before entering campus. Frequent hand washing and social distancing are encouraged.

Students will explore various sports related injuries and learn about treatment and injury prevention; the various career paths of physical therapy and sports medicine and basic anatomy of selective body systems. Learn the basics of the MS Windows 10 operating system, creating/saving files, applications, computer terminology, working with email and attachments, etc. Improve your computer typing skills while also learning the essentials of creating MS Word documents (e.g., letters, resumes, schedules, etc.)

Microsoft Computer Applications (23 sessions, 06/07-07/15/2021; no class 7/05)064704 M - Th 6:30 pm-8:30 pm BAS/F602 Staff The programs with which most employers expect job applicants to be familiar are Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This course is designed to increase proficiency in the use of those applications. At completion of this course, students should be able to prepare documents using Microsoft Office 2016 word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills.
