Welcome to the ONE-ON-ONE Festival, a unique experience made up of tasty bite-size pieces of intimate theatre. On the following pages are 10 set

menus of one-on-one performances for you to choose from. Each menu has its own particular flavour and comprises three courses of high quality

but they all have the thrill of being experiences crafted for you alone.

Turn your one-on-one experience into a stomach-filling feast by pre-ordering from our delicious tapas menu (check towards the back of the brochure),

And if you are still not full after one set menu, then why not come back for second helpings on another day?

A Game of You (5 – 9 April)

Find and lose yourself through the eyes of others and become your own avatar. This performance takes you on a journey through a labyrinth of intense self-reflection. What you think and say about other people, how much does it reveal about you?

Side dish 2NEVERHOME | Kirsty Harris

Welcome to my tree house. There was a boy who once lived here, but they say he decided to grow up. Shall we wait for him? I want to know where you grew up and I want to bring that place back to life. I want to believe all of this is real. I want to go home. Come with me.

A spicy main combined with subtle, nostalgia-inducing sides.

Personal2

Page 6: ONE-ON-ONE Festival

Main course2 FREE | Ansuman BiswasA direct encounter with your own mental and physical bonds.

2 Free is an invitation to examine societal assumptions and private fears. It is about control and freedom and one’s own responsibility in any relationship.

You will find yourself part of an unexpected scenario in which your own decisions will determine the course of events.

How free are you to help anyone else, and how free is too free?

Side dish 1OBSERVATION DECK (BATTERSEA) | Patrick Killoran

How often does one have the opportunity to slide out of a window?

Recline on the Observation Deck to slide your head and shoulders out of the window of BAC for ten minutes. Through this repositioning of the body, you’ll engage with the exterior architecture in an unfamiliar way.

Only possible as long as you are present.

Main courseTHE PLEASURE OF BEING: WASHING, FEEDING, HOLDING | Adrian HowellsFor the past ten years Adrian has been creating intimate, one-on-one performances that allow individuals to feel both deeply nourished and connected. In this, his most challenging piece to date, Adrian will invite you to surrender yourself in an intensely intimate and profoundly nurturing experience of being fully bathed, fed, and held in a long embrace by him.

A therapeutic and uniquely intimate experience.

Side dish 1INDISCREET | Deborah Pearson

A beautifully intriguing performance that will remain a mystery until you enter. Deborah recently won a Herald Angel award for her show at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

‘A lovely little piece whose emotional impact hits you after rather than during the show’ Guardian on Like You Were Before

Side dish 2A LITTLE BIT OF A BEAUTIFUL THING | Barnaby Stone

It is an ancient oak beam from one of Britain’s finest Elizabethan houses. You and I will uncover some of its stories, events it has witnessed. What we do will transform it forever. You will become part of its history.

You will take a little bit of a beautiful thing home.

A tender and caring combination that leaves you with the taste of time well spent.

7pm, 8.30pm & 9pm

Intimate

IN THIS MENU YOU ARE INVITED TO BATHE FULLY NAKED, BUT PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WEAR SWIMWEAR/

Main courseROTATING IN A ROOM OF IMAGESLundahl and SeitlIn this intense experience, a disembodied voice guides you through a series of enigmatic encounters. Corridors and rooms appear and disappear as you explore experiences often felt but less often articulated – the dislocation from your own body experienced when emerging from sleep, dreams in which you feel you’re floating and the potential self-revelation that can occur on meeting and engaging with strangers.

Side dish 1AND THE BIRDS FELL FROM THE SKY | Il Pixel Rosso

By Simon Wilkinson & Silvia Mercuriali

Take a joyride inside your head from the safety and domestication of the suburbs to a feral landscape at the far edge of civilisation. Wearing video goggles and headphones, you’ll be cast as the main character in a journey of wild and poetic disharmony to the world of the Faruk Clown…

Side dish 2WHERE THE WILD THINGS SLEEPThe Campinglis Bell-Halls

Go to bed without supper and let the sea carry you deep into the forest, a forest full of eyes and teeth and a king with claws...

As these flavours explode on your palate you’ll be transported deep into a world of dreams and nightmares.

7pm, 8.30pm & 9pm

Immersive5

Page 9: ONE-ON-ONE Festival

Main courseETIQUETTE | RotozazaAn experience for two people in a public space. There is no-one watching – other people are not aware of it. You wear headphones which tell you what to say to each other, or to use one of the objects positioned to the side. There is a kind of magic involved – the synchronised tracks in Etiquette mean that you and your partner are inextricably linked – actions, gestures, words are all interconnected.

Side dish 1COLD STORAGE | Ray Lee

What would it be like to go to sleep and wake up in one thousand years time?

In this intimate and immersive experience, Ray Lee invites you to go into cold storage, to be deep frozen and transported into deep space to experience the wonder of the universe...

Side dish 2EXCHANGE | Rod Maclachlan

An experience in which you’ll join another festival-goer. With a belt around your chest, your breathing patterns will control the intensity of two sets of lights. You’ll become both the performers and the audience, communicating by respiration.

Maclachlans’ work explores the reciprocal relationships between the physical and the ethereal; the internal and external.

Lie back, strap in, open wide and press play. Machines have taste buds too.

Tastes that will take you to unusual places and distant lands; that will leave you flat on your back in wonder at the world.

Main courseMAYBE IF YOU CHOREOGRAPH ME, YOU WILL FEEL BETTER | Tania El KhourySpeaking into a dictaphone, your voice will be heard through the female performer’s headphones. You dictate her every move. Will you introduce yourself to her or remain anonymous? Will you choose to follow a script or improvise? Her choices, however, are less straightforward.

Side dish 1SELF-PORTRAIT WITH FRIDA | Melanie Wilson

An illustrated conversation between you and your reflection. Taking place in the extraordinary bed of artist Frida Kahlo, this is a captivating study in sonic and visual self-perception.

A tasty combination of self-observation and personal memory washed down with a glass of voyeurism.

Main courseTHE COLLECTION OF FEARS AND DESIRES Roos van-GeffenEvery fear carries an element of desire. The fear to die is the desire to live. The fear of heights is the desire of the body to throw itself down. The fear to lose is the desire to preserve, give away all you have, and the fear disappears.

Over the last few months, Roos van Geffen has been collecting desires and fears on the street in the Netherlands, which is the source and inspiration for this new performance.

Subtle undertones of loss and heartache are followed by hints of beauty and an aftertaste of mortality.
