The Netherlands will focus on specific periods to present and discuss the challenges and solutions of the mentioned themes:

1. The Urban Development and Cities Week – Climate Adaptation and Water Smart Cities

During the Urban Week, 22 - 28 November 2020, the programme will focus on the Urban challenges: an estimated nine billion people will live in large urban

areas by 2050. Clean water for people, industry, and food will become a challenge created by population pressure, infrastructure congestion, rising sea level

and weather changes. Flood risk, water contamination and water shortages are already threats in many places. Connecting minds and create future solutions

for these complex challenges is crucial.

2. The SDG and Sustainability Week – Water Quality and Circular Economy

The Sustainability Week, 10 -17 January 2021, will be our focus for the world needs to find new solutions for global water challenges. Solutions need to be

practical, efficient, sustainable and cost-effective. The worlds’ water supply has to enter a new era, changing from a linear supply chain to a circular one. A

global exchange and discussion of leading edge water technologies will be made available within our programs.

3. Other elements

In addition, The Netherlands will also connect to the Climate Focus Week in November 2020 and the Water Week in March 2021, and we will use other global

events leading up to the Expo 2020 Dubai to prepare. Among these events are e.g. SIWW (Singapore), SWWW (Stockholm), GCA (Rotterdam), IWA World

Congress (Copenhagen) and others. Join us at these events to jointly discuss and prepare!

The Programming

During these event weeks, The Netherlands will create programs in which cooperation with other nations globally is crucial: this will be the basis for a global

overview and global discussion on challenges and solutions. At the same time in-depth connections with the host country and GCC region will be established.

The programs will consist of state-of-the-art updates and presentations within these themes, intense and focused round table discussions, networking

opportunities and matchmaking programs for focused connections.
