• Online course content is delivered in a variety of ways including: text, video, audio, animation, and virtual environments

• Online learning is the modern equivalent of distance learning

• The University of Phoenix, established their Online campus in 1988• Purdue and Memphis State University started offering Online

courses during the same time• Stanford University began offering Master’s level programs through

the Internet from the same year• In February, 1997, the Orange County Public Schools in Florida

started delivering online courses• Today, Yahoo, a World Wide Web Search Engine, lists over 300 sites

under Distance Education.
