CIDC – Activities Ongoing Projects/Activities, May 2014

CIDC Invitation to join as Partner Institution :

CIDC invited applications from the eligible Institutions imparting technical education to act as the Partner Institutions of the Council. The Partner Institutions shall expand the HRD initiatives of the Council & prepare the youth to become gainfully employable & ready for Infrastructure Development Industry (IDI)

The Partner Institutions shall be eligible to offer short/ medium term training programs and internships to their students, with the active involvement & support of the Council, which has been instrumental in preparing over 417,000 youth to pursue their career with IDI.

37 Desirous Institutions have sent their expressions of interest.

After screening & short listing, these shortlisted organizations have been Inspected & evaluated by CIDC technical team.

CIDC-Mewar University Program

54 B.Tech & 75 Diploma students (129) from Mewar University have been enrolled in CIDC Internship Program and their classes will begin from 2nd June 2014. The internship program are being conducted to provide hands-on engineering experience and to enhance capabilities of the engineering students in construction sector.

Internship topics include Quantity Surveying & Cost Estimation, Understanding Contract Conditions, Project Planning & Scheduling, Safety practices on Construction Project Sites, Land Surveying Techniques using Total Station, Material Testing Laboratory Techniques, General Site Management & Trenchless Technology

Intern Placement Activities:

Students pursuing Diploma in Civil & Mechanical Engineering from CIDC-Assam University, Diploma Program, being trained in our industrial internship programs, was placed for On-Job Training in Parsan Overseas Pvt. Ltd

Industrial Internship Programs:

8 Students pursuing Diploma in Civil & Mechanical Engineering from Patna have been enrolled in our current industrial internship programmes. These programmes are being conducted to provide them hands-on engineering experience and to enhance their capabilities.

Vijay Nirman Company Ltd (VNCL) requires around 1300 Diploma/ Degree Engineers in civil/electrical and mechanical branches in his different project sites, in all the states of India and has mandated CIDC to facilitate this support.

CIDC – Activities Training & Placement Activities:

Aga Khan Foundation-CIDC - Job Oriented Vocational Training in Construction trades.

An Agreement was signed on 02nd May, 2014” between The Aga Khan Trust for Culture & Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) to provide Job Oriented Vocational Training Programs and Conduct Testing & Certification of workers under “Humayun’s Tomb- Sundar Nursery-Nizamuddin Basti Urban Renewal Programme.

The main objective of this programme is to provide Job Oriented Vocational Training and conduct Testing & Certification of existing skills of construction workers under “Humayun’s Tomb- Sundar Nursery-Nizamuddin Basti Urban Renewal Programme”. A total of 100 candidates shall be trained under this initiative.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE PROGRAMME

Job Oriented Vocational Training in Construction trades around 100 candidates to be trained in three trades Mason, Electricians & Plumbers for 2 months duration of training.

Advance training of practicing worker to be trained in three trades Mason, Electricians & Plumbers for 15 days duration of training.

Direct Testing & Certification for those who are found skilled after their assessment and do not need training.

Present training is being conducted at their AKF training centre at Hazrat Nizammudin. The duration of program shall be followed manner:

Fresh candidates (2 months).

Advance training of practicing workers (15 days).

Testing Certification of candidates (1 day).

CIDC shall provide the course material for the program and the lists for construction material, tool kits, safety items etc. is being provided to AKF to enable them to procure the same & provided to candidates.

CIDC – Activities

Training and weekly performance and assessment tests are conducted followed by final examination. The certification is completed thereafter, and the trainee is given an opportunity to participate in the placement meets organized every month in CIDC. The age limit for the trainee is 18years to 35 years.

In order to enable the trainees to develop the skills and prepare them for the intended job responsibility, rigorous work activities are being undertaken at the site.

This structured training empowers the students with skill sets and knowledge about the specific trades, advancement of technology & makes them aware with recent trends and best practices in construction industry in a short period.

Rozgar Mela (Job fair) organized by the Jharkhand state livelihood promotion society (Rural Development Department) Govt. of Jharkhand on 24th & 25th May 2014 at Daltonganj, Jharkhand.

Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) has entered into an MoU with The Jharkhand Building and other Construction Workers Welfare board, Govt. of Jharkhand, to impart employment oriented vocational training in construction trades, to the registered beneficiaries. We have participated in the Rozgar Mela organized by the Jharkhand state livelihood promotion society on 24th & 25th May, 2014. More than 340 candidates have registered with us to join CIDC programs.

Chief Guest, Shri. Krishnanand Tripathy, Hon’ble Minister of Jharkhand (Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Labour Employment & Training) has interacted with our trainees during the Mela & some of our trainees were also given appointment letter by Hon’ble Minister.

New Initiatives. CIDC- Training activities

Under CIDC-RECL program of candidates of Shivpuri (MP), Last batch of 47 candidates concluded on 15.05.2014 at CIDC Ghaziabad.

Under CIDC-HUDCO Training program, batch of 20 candidates in the trade of Mason was commenced at Pratapgarh (Rajasthan) on 01.05.2014.

Under TNSDM training program, 1700 candidates have been trained and another 1101 candidates are under training.

Under BC-MBC training program, 70 candidates have been trained and another 95 candidates are under training.

Under CIDC-HUDCO Training program, batch of 60 candidates in the trade of Mason & electrical is concluded on 24.05.2014 at Pratapgarh, Rajasthan.

Under self-financing program 6 candidates are getting training at CIDC Ghaziabad centre.

CIDC – Activities

Vocational-cum-Academic Integrated Program in “Construction Supervision (Civil)”

Session 2014 – 2015

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), established by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India, with its countrywide network of training centres, now provides the opportunity for all persons working or otherwise engaged elsewhere to acquire skills in Construction Trades and Allied Courses which will provide gainful opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. CIDC jointly with NIOS is offering the following course through Open learning mode. Such candidates may simultaneously join 12th Class academic courses with NIOS: Course : Construction Supervision (Civil) Duration : Min. 6 months/ Max. 5 years (Theory classes- 60 hrs & Practical-240 hrs) Min. Qualification : 10th Pass Min. Age : 18 years Fees : Rs.12,500/- Prospectus & Form : Rs.50/- Admission Last date for receipt of completed applications: 30th June, 2014 Course commencement : 1st July, 2014 Students can give their exam once every six months as per schedule laid down by NIOS. 9 chances are given in 5 years to clear the course.

Fees can be paid by way of demand draft of Rs.12,550/- favouring “Construction Industry Development Council ” payable at New Delhi.

Admission form along with the fees can be submitted at CIDC Centres before the closing date.
