ACCREDITATION
The courses featured in this brochure (except workshops and nurse immuniser course) are RACGP accredited and will earn CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points required as a standard of practice for GPs. As part of the RACGP commitment to continually evaluate and improve the QI&CPD Program, the 2017–19 triennium will include an increased focus on reflective learning practices.

Identifying and Responding to Domestic and Family Violence

This short e-learning course provides practical ways that health practitioners can increase
their skills in identifying and responding to domestic and family violence. We outline how and
when to ask about this sensitive issue and what to do when a patient discloses to enable a
best practice response and referral.

Osteosarcopenia: Preventing Falls and Fractures in Older Persons

Osteosarcopenia is a newly recognised disease and now has its own ICD code, this means
that there will be an increase in availability in diagnostic tools to help your older patients
gain more confidence and freedom. Osteosarcopenia, a combination of osteoporosis and
sarcopenia, is where individuals experience a synchronic loss of BMD and muscle mass,
strength, and function which represents a huge threat to a loss of independence. Although
medical practitioners may be aware of the importance of fall prevention in the elderly, the
newness of sarcopenia and osteosarcopenia means these conditions are rarely diagnosed
and risks identified for falls and fractures.

Immunisation (Nurse Immuniser) is a recognised program of study which aligns with the
“National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals”. This eLearning
course provides an overview of public health and immunisation from a local and global
context. The vaccines used on the national immunisation program, the recommendations
for their use and revision of the immune system are studied to prepare nurses to administer
vaccines autonomously.

OUR WORKSHOPSHaemodynamic Echocardiography Assessment in Real Time: iHeartScan & iHeartScan Advanced Workshops
OVERVIEW
The iHeartScan workshops are aimed at extending your experience and training in transthoracic echocardiography.
Participants will begin by completing the eLearning component prior to the workshop, which consists of a series of tutorials and case studies focusing on transthoracic echocardiography. Their knowledge is then reinforced with a hands-on workshop and demonstration, where under the guidance of an experienced ultrasound trainer, participants will have the opportunity to practise transthoracic ultrasound on live models.
The maximum intake per Melbourne iHeartScan workshops is 20 participants.
