WHAT IS ONP?
This project, Online National Polling aims to provide an online portal to the following class of people:
Those who have a very busy schedule of working & they can’t afford time to stand in queues to vote.
Those who are physically handicapped and can’t always be at the place of voting.
Those who are afraid that at the time of voting, manpower of the candidates will force them to vote them in their favor.
Those who are very tech-freak and want to use the technology to accomplice their work.
Checks for duplicate voting.

WHY WE NEED ONP?
The current voting scenario in India is such that the overall voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh itself is as low as 46% only. That means only 46 out of 100 people perform voting.
Those who do not vote include those who find it very difficult to go to the voting place, as they might be away from their home land where they are registered for voting.
Although there are privilege to register online for voting but the form has to be submitted by hand to the election commission officer for verification & finally obtaining the voter-id.
The problem is worse when the people who wish to vote are not given their voter slip. Their names are often cut off from the voter list.
They don’t get chance even if they wish to. As the country in which we live, is the biggest democracy in the world, every person must have the right to choose the ruling power according to his/her notion.
LORD KRISHNA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
WHY WE NEED ONP?
Some powerful people force other citizens to vote for their party.
Duplicate voting.
Detailed information regarding candidate is not available to the citizen, so he/she is often misled by the fake advertisements and canvassing by the candidate.

FUTURE SCOPE
The future scope of the project is very important. As the information is globalizing the need for data is felt more and more.
The database can serve as a service to other govt. organizations.
This can also help the All India Unique ID project as the data of the people will be collected at the time of registration and all the data will be manually verified so the chances of errors are very less.
Eco friendly working. No paper wastage, good for future.
Integration with the electronic voting machines (EVM) can be incorporated to enhance the performance and security

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM
The following are the disadvantages of the currently existing system:
Less voter turnout.
Paper wastage.
Extra payments required to be made to the workers who are employed in the election duty.
The maintenance of the consistency of the voter list is a tedious job to carry out.
Distribution of the voting chits to every house is also an extra overhead

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM
The proposed system is having the following advantages:
Those from the urban area, who were not able to vote earlier due to their busy lifestyle and lack of time, can cast their vote in minutes without wasting time in long queues.
Once registered, the user can participate in any election that is going on in his city.
No need to distribute voting chits.
As the details of every user are maintained in the database there is no need t explicitly maintain a record of all the people that are eligible to vote in the election.
Duplicate voting is checked at the database level. No user can get his/her vote registered more than once in any particular election more than once.
The database can act as source of information to other centralized Govt. organizations. No need to collect data again for each & every purpose, just quote the voter id an all the data will be available
