Digital Equipment Evaluation Report Onset X2 September 2017 Description of Machine The Inca Onset X2 provides the capacity to extend the range of jobs and win more work with increased throughput. Onset X2 feature two sets of CMYK with the option of adding light inks to smooth images, orange ink to expand the color gamut and two white channels of ink. Using Dimatix printheads with a native 14 picoliter drop size, innovative Tier Drop technology allows 11 - 14 - 17 picoliter options to meet changing speed and quality needs. Onset X2 is capable of producing sellable output at speeds in ex- cess of 6,889 ft2/hr equating to 128 5’ x 10’ beds per hour. NEW features in the Onset X series include a new vacuum table design and a new GUI to provide a powerful yet simple-to-use printer and job management tool. The X series offers many of the features associated with the previous Onset range, including intelligence features like iNozzle mapping, a wide color gamut, advanced job management and automation. In addition, Onset X2 produces POP-quality display graphics economically up to 1.8” (46mm) thick. Additionally, the ability to vary the gloss level directly from the op- erator console gives the user flexibility to set the desired gloss level on a per job basis. To ensure maximum throughput, the Inca Onset X2 is compatible with Inca’s flexible automation systems which offer customers the choice to operate in manual, three quarter or full automation, as well as Inca’s Software Suite which includes Reporter Pro, Inca Vision and Print Run Controller (PRC) software. Print Quality TestsThe SGIA test image was printed on the Onset X2 using Tango C2S stock at 1288x2400 dpi. RGB input profile set to AdobeRGB(1998) and CMYK input profile set to GRACol2013 CRPC6 using Caldera’s Grand RIP. The Rendering intent was set to Colorimetric with BPC. An SGIA control print using an Epson 7800 with semi-matte proof-ing media and validated with Color*Metrix ProofPass software was used for the spectral evaluation comparisons -- measurements are taken in the areas that are designated with the circled numbers and compared in the column at the right.

Objective measurements (taken from Onset X2)#1 Pantone Spot Colors* ∆EPantone 185C 4.11Pantone 300C 4.51Pantone 512C 0.61Pantone 375C 8.47Pantone 7548C 7.37Pantone 165C 5.97Pantone 102C 4.03Pantone 297C 6.96*All spot colors above were measured from the SGIA test image printed by the Onset X2 and using an X-Rite Exact with the follow-ing measurement conditions: D50/2°, CIE ∆E 2000, and M1. The

paper was measured before all measurements were taken (see paper values under Gamut and Density).

#2 Neutral Gray DensityCyan density of 0.58; Magenta density of 0.57; and Yellow density of 0.59. Neutral gray was created by mixing 50% Cyan, 40% Magenta, and 40% Yellow. In the density measurements above, a neutral gray would typically measure CMY at 0.58, if a color above is off by more than 0.02 from the 0.58 you may be able to see a color cast.

Gamut and Density2D Gamut Comparison with Adobe® RGB and Coated GRACol2006 (known industry specifications). Onset X2 gamut built by printing the IT8.7-4 CMYK Random test chart on at 1288x2400 dpi (12 pass) using Caldera’s Grand RIP with the Rendering intent set to Colorimetric (BPC) and input targets set to AdobeRGB(1998) and GRACol2013 CRPC6. The substrate white was measured at L*94.27, a*1.56, b*-5.67. For reference purposes The L* value represents a white value in darkness and lightness. The higher the number, the whiter the paper. The a* value represents almost no cast on the green/red axis, and the b* value represents a bluish cast on the blue/yellow axis.

The color managed gamut shows how this model printer ships to the end-user with the RIP software and color management settings determined by the manufacturer and described above.

Print Speeds for Bi-Directional PrintingThe SGIA test image was run across the width of the media for an image size of 120” x 60” or 50 f². Satin mode was used.

Visual Evaluation of 6 pt. typeThis image is from a 10x digital microscope. The test results are from an individual printer that has been calibrated as directed by the manufacturer and run by an expert operator. The images are 6 pt. yellow type on a Cyan and Magenta background (Blue), 6 pt. Cyan type on a Magenta and Yellow background (Red), 6 pt. yellow type on a Cyan and Yellow background (Green), and finally a knock-out from Pantone Process black ink.

Service/Warranty PackageThe Onset X2 comes with a one year parts and labor limited war-ranty, including phone support, remote diagnostics and on-site support. Service is performed by Inca Engineers, and Inca trained technicians. There is also a conditional PrintHead Assurance Program.

Training and SupportInstall on the Onset takes approximately 3 weeks. This timeline includes uncrating and positioning of the printer, calibrating the printer to factory specifications, and training on printer operations and maintenance. Custom Advanced Operator Courses can also be built to specific needs, and is carried out at Inca Digital in the U.K. RIP software training, provided by wide format focused FUJIFILM Technical Solutions & Support (FTS) division, occurs after the installation of the printer.

Digital Equipment Evaluation Reports are produced by the Spe-cialty Graphic Imaging Association in order to provide an objective comparison tool for companies utilizing wide-format digital imaging equipment. Equipment is evaluated in controlled conditions using a qualified operator and a representative of SGIA, who works as an objective observer and recorder of findings.

A special thanks to X-rite for providing the i1 Pro2 Spectrophoto-meter, and the Exact Spectrophotometer for taking the necessary measurements in these evaluations. Also thank you to Tucanna software for their RapidCheck® software and the Tucanna Color Wedge for the Repeatibility test and to Color*Metrix for the use of ProofPass verification software, which was used to validate the Epson 7800 reference print.

If you have questions about this report or any of the data, please e-mail [email protected] and reference Fuji Onset X2 in the subject line.
