Rooted In Christ
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree. Ps.
92:12.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf
also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall
prosper. Ps. 1:3.
These texts describe the happy state of the man or
woman whose soul is rooted and grounded in Christ.
But there is always danger that souls will not anchor
themselves in God, but be content to drift hither and
thither, the sport of Satan’s temptations.
Are you beginning to see the defects in your
character? Do not feel helpless and discouraged.
Look to Jesus, who knows your every weakness and
pities your every infirmity.… It is no disgrace to
confess our sins and forsake them. The disgrace rests
upon those who know their sins but continue in them
and grieve the dear Savior by their crooked paths. A
knowledge of our wrongs should be more highly
prized than a happy flight of feeling, for it is evidence
that the Spirit of God is striving with us, and that
angels are round about us.…
In true contrition for sin, come to the foot of the
cross, and there leave your burdens. Come exercising
repentance toward God because you have broken His
law and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ to pardon your
transgressions and reconcile you to the Father.

Believe what God says; take his promises to
your heart…
See the weary traveler toiling over the hot
sands of the desert, with no shelter to protect
him from the rays of a tropical sun. His water
supply fails, and he has nothing to quench his
burning thirst. His tongue becomes swollen;
he staggers like a drunken man. Visions of
home and friends pass before his mind as he
believes himself ready to perish in the terrible
desert. Suddenly those in advance send forth a
shout of joy. In the distance, looming up out
of the dreary, sandy waste is a palm tree,
green and flourishing….
As the palm tree, drawing nourishment from
the fountain of living water, is green and
flourishing in the midst of the desert, so the
Christian may draw rich supplies of grace
from the fountain of God’s love and may
guide weary souls, that are full of unrest and
ready to perish in the desert of sin, to those
waters of which they may drink, and live.
Rooted In Christ Continued …
The Man Must Lead
“Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ”
-1 Corinthians 11:3
God has created a systematic chain of command by which He
operates. He expects this chain of command to become part of
our lives as well. Even Jesus Christ, the Son of God, comes
under the authority of God the Father. A man is to place
himself under the lordship of Jesus Christ. This is not a
statement of equality, but of function. God ordained this order
at creation. Further, a woman comes under the authority of her
husband as a statement of submission to God.
What happens when we break the chain of command? Satan
began his plan of attack on man right in the Garden of Eden. He
got Eve and Adam to switch roles. Eve took the lead and Adam
became the follower. It was a disastrous experience. Sin was
introduced to the world along with its companions, death and
disobedience.
God has stitched women in such a way that they are built to be
responders. When the man leads the home by placing himself
under the lordship of Jesus Christ, the woman will follow. But
for a follower to be a good follower, they must have someone
worth following. If the man refuses to recognize the authority
of Jesus in his life, then the woman will step into the leadership
role.
One Minute Please
The biblical definition of real manhood is a man who leads his
family in the worship of God by submitting to his Lord.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all
the nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, "teaching them to observe all
things that I have commanded you; and
lo, I am with you always, even to the end
of the age." Amen.

Discover God By Valerie Gray
I am 29 years old and have been saved for about 19 years
now, but I feel I’m just on the threshold of discovering Him.
I want to move closer and closer to Him and learn more and
more about Him.
Do you know what Paul said at the end of his ministry? That
he may know God (see Philippians 3:10). Did he know God?
Yes, but he knew so little about Him.
Let me ask you a question. Did Christopher Columbus
discover America? Well, he touched on the shores of
America. But even today there are thousands of unnamed
lakes, forests, and more where no one has yet completely
explored.
There is so much in Christ.
You may have “touched on” Christ, but God’s plan is that
you know Him more and more each day. The only way of
getting to know God in a deeper and more intimate way is
spending daily time with Him.
Jesus was essentially part of the triune God head. Yet the
bible says that even before while it was still dark in the
morning, He went off to a solitude place and spent time with
the Father in prayer.
Purpose in your heart and in your mind this month, the
remainder of this year and the rest of your life to get to know
God a little more each day.
God cares about every aspect of your life. Even the
minuscule things that you think are not important, He cares
about them. Seek God’s guidance on every-day decisions
that you make.
Remember not to do all of the talking, but make it a two-way
conversation. God loves to hear from His greatest creation
and to spend time with you. He wants to reveal Himself to
you in new ways.
Give God an opportunity to not only speak to you but show
you who He is, like Jehovah Rophi, Jehovah Nissi or
Jehovah Shalom.
A Pastor’s Prayer
Today I give thanks...........
For guidance each and every day,
For lost souls won along the way,
For tears of joy streaming down each face,
For a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
For pews that's filled to overflowing,
For faces that are happy and glowing,
For prayers sent to God above,
For His never failing love,
For quiet times in my favorite chair,
For a wife who smiles before me there,
For Christian sisters and brothers,
Who care for one another,
For God's grace,
That allows me to minister in this place,
For each family represented,
For each lost heart that's repented,
For all the lives You've let me touch,
I humbly thank you God.........so much!

As we think about being good stewards of our
talents, ministries and gifts, I want us to first consider
what the Bible says about the priority of ministry. In
other words, why should you be interested in finding a
place of service within the body of the church? Let me
share ten reasons why you should be interested in
discovering your place of service within the church.
1. You’ve been created for ministry! "For we are God s workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
2. You’ve been saved for ministry!
"It is He who saved us and chose us for His holy
work, not because we deserved it but because that was
His plan long before the world began." - 2 Timothy
1.9 (LB)
3. You’ve been called to ministry!
"I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you
have received" - Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)
You have been chosen by God Himself-you are
priests of the King... you are God’s very own - all this
is so that you may show to others how God called you
out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you
were less than nothing; now you are God’s own!"- 1
Peter 2:9-10 (LB)
4. You’ve been gifted for ministry!
"But each man has his own gift from God; one has
this gift, another has that." - 1 Corinthians 7:7 (NIV)
5. You’ve been authorized for ministry!
"(Jesus said) All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples . .
.” - Matthew 28:l8-19a (NIV) "We are therefore
Christ’s ambassadors." - 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV)
6. You’re commanded to minister!
“Take heed to the ministry which you have received
in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” - Colossians 4:17
(NKJV)
7. You’re to be prepared for ministry! "Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the
apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors
and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s
people to do his work and build up the church . . ." -
Going the Distance Go that extra mile in serving God through the ministry you are entrusted with or apart of.
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NLT)
8. The body of Christ needs your ministry!
"(Jesus said) The harvest is great but the workers are
few." - Matthew 9:37 (NLT)
9. You’re accountable for your ministry!
"So then, each of us will give an account of himself
to God." - Romans 14:12 (NIV)
10. You will be rewarded for your ministry!
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not men, since you know you
will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a
reward."- Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
JOY IN MINISTRY
Some people have a job in church. Others get
involved in a ministry. What’s the difference?
• If you’re doing it because no one else will and to
serve the Lord, it’s a ministry.
• If you’re doing it just well enough to get by, it’s a
job. If you’re doing it to the best of your ability, it’s
a ministry.
• If you’re committed to staying with it even when it
means letting go of other things, it’s a ministry.
• If you quit because no one praised you or thanked
you, it’s a job. If you stay with it even though no
one seems to notice, it’s a ministry.
• If your concern is faithfulness, it’s a ministry.
• It’s hard to get excited about a job.
• It’s almost impossible not to be excited about a
ministry!
In closing, strive to find where you fit in best and
GET TO WORK. If you’re not sure, talk with your
tribe leader, Pastor Shivers or First Lady. There is
always work to be done in the ministry. If you are a
leader of a ministry, do everything to glorify God.
Give 110% when completing a task. Don’t do
things half-hearted. Whatever the ministry, whether
watering the flowers, cleaning the bathroom or
planning events, many souls are at stake and are
depending on your ministry. Remember we are all
striving to hear those words; “Well done my good
and faithful servant”.
