Checklist for Multibrand Sites from October 1st, 2003 Page1

In accordance with the changes of the BlockExemption Regulation more multibrand environ-ments are expected to materialise. In compari-son with the past this will be a new experiencefor customers and Distributors and/or AuthorisedRepairers.

With more than one brand being displayed on aDistributor and/or Authorised Repairer site there isa risk of “brand confusion”, leading to unfavour-able customer perceptions, which is not in the bestinterest of our brand. It is of particular impor-

tance to display the brand symbols and productsin a clear and distinct way. To avoid any confu-sion, a clear separation between brand areas ina showroom is required and common areas(i.e. entrance, customer reception or direct servicereception) must be brand neutral.

The purpose of this checklist is to outline theitems that need action when more than one brandand/or service is offered at one site, ensuringthat a clear and consistent brand image is por-trayed to customers.

Foreword Corporate DesignSpecifications

A car buyer’s perception of a brand is influencedby the product itself, its performance, its quality, its design, and the value for money it offers.Additionally, the perception is also created bythe way a brand is communicated to the public, and, last but not least, by both the dealerships’appearance and the service they provide to theircustomers. All these different aspects, includinga certain type of prejudice a consumer mighthave, lead up to a brand image – be it positive, neutral or negative. Once the image is coined, itcan only be influenced or changed over thecourse time, through changing the identity of the brand. In recent years, Opel and its part-ners have successfully worked on the identity ofOpel as a company and a brand. However, since market conditions and thecompetitive environment are changing beyondcontrol, Opel and its partners are comitted tolook upon change as both a challenge and anopportunity.

The objective of this manual is to provide ourdealerships around the world with theneccessary elements that will enable them tosupport Opel’s identity-building process botheffectively and consistently. The CorporateDesign specifications outlined in this manual aregeared towards enhancing the competitivenessof dealers as well as towards strenghening theirrelationship with Opel’s partners.

Alucobond is a two composite plate consistingof two aluminium covering sheets with anintermediate layer of polyethylene.

Apart from the material specifications named,Alucobond also offers the following advantages.

The recommended weight at the 4 mm platethickness is 5.5 kg/m2.

Good bending, deflection and bucklingstrenghts. Alucobond has completely planesurfaces.

Good oscillation and noise dampening proper-ties. Alucobond dampens vibrations and has alow susceptibility to droning.

Easy to work. Alucobond can be processed withor without cutting using conventional tools.

Trouble-free joining methods. Alucobond can bejoined with screws, rivets and adhesives. Thecore layer can be welded with hot air.

The individual trim elements are cassettes with asection length of 1.25 m. Any fitted sectionswhich may be needed can be made accordingto individual requirements.

The cassettes are suspended in a substructureand are additionally secured against being re-moved from the suspension. There are inner andouter corner elements for forming corners 45degrees, which provide the yellow-white Opelfascia with an additional characteristic feature.

The design allows all elements of the yellow-white Opel fascia to be replaced individually.

The Light channel is part of the facing trim andruns underneath the yellow fascia cassette andonly illuminates to the front. A yellow acrylicglass top covers the aluminium channel (U-section) in which the neon tubes and inlineelectronic devices are fastened. The outer andinner corners conform to the structure of thefascia.

The substructure consists of standardized alu-minium U-sections with stainless steel bolts,Form which the cassettes are suspended.

Additional brackets are used for fastening thecassettes to the respective building. Thesebrackets compensate for building tolerances viaa bolt union with a slot. Together with the U-sections they are adapted to the localsituation.

The entire structure, i.e. cassettes and sub-assembly, is corrosion-free since it is made ofaluminium and stainless steel parts.

The architectural symbol is the actual centre-piece of the interior design concept. It is anindispensible part of the interior design and isjust as impressive there as the yellow/whitefascia is on the exterior.

This architecturally effective symbol alone givesthe room its character and provides the Opeldealership with the most important componentfor clear identification.

In order to keep the proportion of a stayingrectangle for the back-wall panel, the width ofthe panel should not exceed 85 % of its height. For constructive reasons, the minimum height of 3.00 m should be strictly adhered to, if possible.

The connecting elements have to bearranged in such a way that different impres-sions of the room can result, the formation oflong parts of counters to be avoided.

In the case of the counter for cash desk and ser-vice desk, these high requirements relating tofunction and optics have to be also met. Theplate of the counter can be made from eithermelamine resin/light grey or glass. The alter-native use of alu metal sheet is possible.

Furthermore, the counter for cash desk and ser-vice desk distinguishes itself by an upper surfa-ce which is closed at the front, can be used atthe reverse due to pigeon holes, and, therefore, has to be protected against access and insight.Owing to the chrome-polished girder construc-tion of the counter board aimed at, the conti-nuous character of this piece of service furnitureremains. The range of seating furniture is to be matchedwith the overall conception in terms of shape, colour and quality. The latest knowledge is tobe obtained and to be incorporated in theselection criteria. Last but not least, importancehas to be attached to the fact that a privilegedimpression has to be conveyed to the customer,i.e. to give the customer appropriate importanceby means of comfortable furniture. For thoseareas used by customers, chairs with armrestsshould be chosen. For the seats elements, variations, matched to one another, should beselected which are carried into execution in boththe functional areas and the customer-orientedareas, thus obtaining a uniformity of seats andensuring that no variety interferes with theoverall picture.

In order to separate workplaces from each other,to screen them off optically and acoustically, apartition-wall system is imaginable. The open-ness of the interior decoration will be kept whilethe shielding is so successful that any conver-sations not to be listened to by third parties areheld back. In the placing of the furniture, as wellas in the selection of supplementing elementsnot described individually, attention has to bepaid to an uninterrupted element language to befound, which covers all functional areas andwhich represents an overall conception withregard to its shape and colour.
