Tools to Help You Choose!

Not sure which plan is the best fit for you and your family?

Review the out-of-pocket comparison and rate charts on page 6-7. Use the Out of Pocket Calculator tool to get the big picture. It will help you estimate how much your costs including biweekly premiums, doctor’s office visits, prescription drugs, etc. Review the plan’s Summary of Benefits & Coverage on the Open Enrollment page. Check your plan’s website for tools and information to help you make the most of your coverage. Attend an Open Enrollment Information Session, where HR staff and representatives from Cigna, Kaiser and Delta Dental will be available to answer your questions.

Who Can Be Covered?

Employees may cover eligible dependents on their health and dental plan. You must be legally married (as recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia) to cover your spouse. You must be the parent, step-parent (current marriage), adoptive parent, or have been granted legal

custody through the courts to enroll a child. Children may be covered until age 26.

Save Money on Healthcare Stay healthy by taking advantage of preventive care appointments! They’re covered at no cost to you.

Use Cigna’s MDLive or Urgent Care instead of the Emergency Room when appropriate.

Take generic or preferred brand prescription drugs. You can save even more money by getting your maintenance medications through mail order or Cigna 90 Now.

Enroll in the health care flexible spending account (FSA) during Open Enrollment—use your tax-free dollars for medical, dental and vision expenses that insurance doesn’t cover.

Cigna members can save money by using Virginia Hospital Center which provides an additional 10% discount on services for Arlington County Government Cigna members.

Take advantage of the HealthSmart Wellness Clinic — free to benefit-eligible employees! It saves time too!

The out-of-pocket maximum (OOPM) is a financial safety net required by the Affordable Care Act to protect you against catastrophic medical bills. The OOPM is the most you will pay out-of-pocket during the calendar year for covered health services. Once you meet the OOPM, the plan pays 100% for the rest of the calendar year.

Your Out-of-Pocket dollars are tracked on a calendar year basis. Every January 1, you start at $0 and begin to refill your “bucket” until your reach the OOPM for your plan.

Changing Plans May Impact Out-of-Pocket Maximum

From To OOPM Impact

Cigna Plan Different Cigna Plan Any out-of-pocket expenses WILL count toward the OOPM for the new plan

Kaiser Cigna Expenses incurred in the old plan WILL NOT count toward the OOPM for the new plan. On July 1, your OOPM starts at $0 with your new insurance and will reset again January 1.

We know that child care is expensive in this area. To help with those expenses, starting July 1 the County will be reimburse you for 50% of your election, up to $500, for full-time employees participating in the plan. The benefit is pro-rated for part-time employees. When you make your election in PRISM for the Fiscal Year, enter your annual amount (up to the $5,000 maximum per household) just as you always have. The County will reimburse you every pay period by adding money to your pay. Your FSA deduction will then come out as normal, giving you the full pre-tax benefit. For more details and examples, please see the FAQs on AC Commons. Remember: You must re-enroll in health care and dependent care flexible spending programs each year during Open Enrollment in order to continue to participate!

New! $500 Dependent Care FSA Benefit

Expecting a baby?

Cigna Members Can Earn Up To $250 We want you and your baby to be healthy during pregnancy and in the days and weeks following your baby’s birth. When you enroll in Cigna’s Healthy Pregnancies, Healthy Babies program, a registered nurse will be there to support you throughout your pregnancy. If you successfully complete the program, you will be eligible to receive up to $250. Call 1.800.615.2906 as soon as your know you are pregnant to take full advantage of the program!

Save the Date! HealthSmart Baby Shower July 26

Join other expectant parents for a fun and informative event. Watch for more details on AC Commons .

Other Plan Changes We are pleased to announce that, effective July 1, 2017, both Cigna and Kaiser will provide coverage for services related to gender reassignment. The County made the decision to offer this coverage in consultation with Cigna and Kaiser, in order to continue to offer a comprehensive benefits package that meets the needs of our diverse employee population. Because this is a new benefit, and there are limits to the coverage, we realize employees may have questions. If individuals want more detailed information, you should contact Cigna or Kaiser Customer Service.

Retirement Corner

You can make changes to your retirement savings any time — not just during Open Enrollment , but...when was the last time you changed your 457 contribution amount? If you can’t remember, it’s probably time to go into PRISM and take a look. Then: Increase your contribution. Every little bit

now will add up over time. Change your contribution to a % of pay.

That way if you work overtime or get a pay increase, the dollar amount of your contribution automatically goes up.

Monitor your investments to make sure

your money is working for you. Not sure where to start? Meet with one of our

on-site Voya representatives.

Coming Soon in May! Our retirement team has been busy for ways to improve services and help you better understand the wonderful retirement benefits the County provides. Here are just a couple changes coming in the next few weeks. Watch AC Commons for more details! Web Member Services is getting a new look and a new name! We think you’ll find the site easier to navigate. You’ll be able to run your own pension estimates using the same link: www.arlingtonva.us/retirement and your current Username and Password.

Voya representatives will be available at more locations around the County — and you’ll be able to schedule an appointment on-line! Representatives are here to help you set retirement goals and make a plan to achieve them.
