Disposal of the packing mater-ialThe packaging is designed to protectthe appliance from damage duringtransportation. The packaging materialsused are selected from materials whichare environmentally friendly for disposaland should be recycled.

Recycling the packaging reduces theuse of raw materials in the manufactur-ing process and also reduces theamount of waste in landfill sites.

Disposing of your old appli-anceElectrical and electronic appliances of-ten contain valuable materials. Theyalso contain specific materials, com-pounds and components, which wereessential for their correct function andsafety. These could be hazardous to hu-man health and to the environment ifdisposed of with your domestic wasteor if handled incorrectly. Please do not,therefore, dispose of your old appliancewith your household waste.

Please dispose of it at your local com-munity waste collection / recyclingcentre for electrical and electronic ap-pliances, or contact your dealer orMiele for advice. You are also respons-ible (by law, depending on country) fordeleting any personal data that may bestored on the appliance being disposedof. Please ensure that your old appli-ance poses no risk to children while be-ing stored prior to disposal.

This washing machine complies with current safety requirements.Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and dam-age to property.

To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine, pleaseread these instructions carefully before using it for the first time.They contain important information on its safety, use and mainten-ance.Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new usersare familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future user.

Correct application

This washing machine is intended for use in domestic householdsand similar working and residential environments.

The washing machine is not intended for outdoor use.

It must be used only as a domestic appliance to wash items whichare specified by the manufacturer as being washable on the washcare label. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from in-correct or improper use or operation.

The washing machine can only be used by people with reducedphysical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience orknowledge, if they are supervised whilst using it or have been shownhow to use it safely and recognise and understand the con-sequences of incorrect operation.

Safety with children

Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the wash-ing machine unless they are constantly supervised.

Children 8 years and older may only use the washing machine un-supervised if they have been shown how to use it safely and recog-nise and understand the consequences of incorrect operation.

Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the washingmachine unsupervised.

Please supervise children in the vicinity of the washing machineand do not let them play with it.

Technical safety

Please observe the instructions in "Installation and connection"and "Technical data".

Before setting up the washing machine, check it for any externallyvisible damage. Do not install or use a damaged machine.

Before connecting the washing machine, ensure that the connec-tion data on the data plate (fuse rating, voltage and frequency) matchthe mains electricity supply. If in any doubt, consult a qualified elec-trician.

Reliable and safe operation of this washing machine can only beassured if it has been connected to the mains electricity supply.

The electrical safety of this washing machine can only be guaran-teed when correctly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met. If in anydoubt, please have the wiring system of the building tested by aqualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequateearthing system (e.g. electric shock).

Do not connect the washing machine to the mains electricity sup-ply by a multi-socket adapter, extension lead or similar. These do notguarantee the required safety of the machine (fire hazard due to therisk of overheating).

Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele ori-ginal spare parts. Only when these parts are fitted can Miele guaran-tee the safety standards of the machine.

The electrical socket must be easily accessible after installation sothat the machine can be disconnected from the electricity supply ifnecessary.

Unauthorised repairs could result in unforeseen dangers for theuser, for which the manufacturer cannot accept liability. Repairsshould only be undertaken by a Miele authorised service technician,otherwise any subsequent damage will not be covered by the war-ranty.

If the electrical connection cable is faulty it must only be replacedby a Miele authorised service technician to protect the user fromdanger.

The machine must be isolated from the electricity supply whencleaning and maintaining the machine and in the event of a fault.

The machine must only be connected to the on-site water supplyusing a new hose kit. Old hose kits must not be re-used. Check thecondition of the hoses regularly so that you can replace them ingood time and avoid the risk of any water damage.

The water flow pressure must be at least 100 kPa and should notexceed 1000 kPa.

In areas which may be subject to infestation by cockroaches orother vermin, pay particular attention to keeping the machine and itssurroundings in a clean condition at all times. Any damage whichmay be caused by cockroaches or other vermin will not be coveredby the warranty.

The machine must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g.on a ship).

Do not make any alterations to the machine, unless authorised todo so by Miele.

Correct use

Do not install the washing machine in a room where there is a riskof frost. Frozen hoses may burst or split. The reliability of the elec-tronic control unit may be impaired at temperatures below freezingpoint.

Before using the machine for the first time, check that the transitbars at the rear of the machine have been removed (see "Installationand connection - Removing the transit bars"). During spinning, atransit bar which is still in place may result in damage to both themachine and adjacent furniture or appliances.

Turn off the stopcock if the machine is to be left for any length oftime (e.g. holiday), especially if there is no floor drain (gully) in the im-mediate vicinity.

Flooding danger. If hooking the drain hose into a wash basin, check that the water candrain off quickly enough to prevent the sink from overflowing. Makesure the drain hose is secure, so that the force of the water flowingout of the hose does not dislodge it.

Take care to ensure that foreign objects (e.g. nails, pins, coins, pa-per clips) do not find their way into the machine with the laundry.These may damage components of the machine (e.g. suds con-tainer, drum), which in turn can result in damage to the laundry.

Take care when opening the drum door after using the steamfunction. Danger of burning due to escaping steam and the hightemperature of the surface of the drum as well as the porthole glass.Stand back away from the machine and wait until the steam has dis-sipated.

The maximum load for this washing machine is 8 kg (dry weight).See the "Programme chart" for the maximum recommended loadsfor individual programmes.

If the correct amount of detergent is dispensed, the machineshould not need to be descaled. If, however, you do wish to descaleit, only use a proprietary natural citric acid based descaling agent.Miele recommends using Miele descaling agent which is available toorder online at www.miele-shop.com or from Miele. Strictly observethe instructions on the packaging.

Textiles which have been pre-treated in solvent based cleaningagents must be thoroughly rinsed in clean water before beingwashed in the machine.

Do not use solvent based cleaning agents, e.g. those containingbenzine, in this machine, as this may result in damage to componentparts and create toxic fumes. Such agents also pose a fire and ex-plosion hazard.

Do not use solvent based cleaning agents, e.g. those containingbenzine, to clean the surfaces of the machine. They can cause dam-age to plastic surfaces.

Only use dyes specified by the manufacturer as being suitable foruse in a domestic washing machine. Always observe the manufac-turer's instructions carefully.

Colour run and dye removers contain sulphur compounds whichcan cause damage such as corrosion. Do not use these products inthis machine.

If detergent comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them thor-oughly with lukewarm water immediately. If swallowed, seek medicalassistance immediately and retain the packaging or label for refer-ence. Those with skin problems or sensitive skin should avoid theirskin coming into contact with detergent.

Accessories

Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved byMiele. If other parts are used, warranty, performance and product li-ability claims will be invalidated.

A Miele tumble dryer can be stacked on top of a Miele washingmachine using the appropriate stacking kit (available as an optionalaccessory). Please make sure you order the correct one for the Mielewashing machine and Miele tumble dryer.

If installing the machine on a Miele plinth, (available as an optionalaccessory, depending on country), please make sure you order thecorrect one for this washing machine.

Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliancewith these Warning and Safety instructions.

Examples on how to operatethe machine

Scrolling through a list

The arrows in the display indicate thata list is available.

Language Touching the sensor scrolls down thelist to the next option and touching the sensor scrolls up the list to the nextoption. The OK sensor is used to activ-ate the option which is currently in thedisplay.

Identifying options selected

If an option has been activated, this willbe indicated by a tick next to it.

Setting numerical values

Start in h00 :00

A numerical value is highlighted inwhite. Touching the sensor de-creases the value and touching the sensor increases it. The OK sensor isused to activate the value which is cur-rently in the display.

Exiting a sub-menu

Select Back to exit a sub-menu.

Before using for the first time

Before using the machine for thefirst time ensure that it is correctly in-stalled and connected. See "Installa-tion and connection". Also checkthat the drain filters are securelytightened to prevent the risk of waterleaks during use.

Remove the protective foil andstickers Remove

– the protective foil from the door.

Please do not remove any labels(e.g. the data plate), visible when youopen the door.

Remove the drain hose elbowfrom the drumAn elbow piece for the drain hose isstored in the drum.

Reach under the door grip and pullthe door open.

Remove the elbow piece.

Shut the door with a gentle swing.

This washing machine has undergonea complete functional test at the fact-ory and there will be some residualwater in the drum from this process.

Switch on the washing ma-chine Press the button.

The welcome screen will light up.

Setting the languageYou will be asked to select the languageyou want for the display. It is possibleto change the language at any time via"Settings".

Removing the transit barsA reminder to remove the transit barswill appear in the display.

Failure to remove the transit barscan result in damage to the washingmachine and to adjacent cabinetry orappliances.Remove the transit bars as describedin "Installation and connection".

Confirm the removal of the transitbars with the OK sensor.

Starting the calibration pro-grammeFor optimum water and energy con-sumption and excellent wash results, itis important to calibrate the washingmachine.

The following message appears in thedisplay:

Open and run Cottons 90°C withoutlaundry

Touch the sensor repeatedly untilyou have read all the rows of text.

The OK sensor will light up.

Confirm the message with theOK sensor.

To do this the Cottons 90 °C pro-gramme must be run without laundryand without detergent.

No other programmes can be starteduntil calibration has been carried out.

Open the stopcock.

Turn the programme selector to Cot-tons.

1:55 90°C 1400

Press the Start/Stop button.

The calibration programme then starts.It will take approximately 2 hours.

At the end of the programme the follow-ing message will appear in the display:

Tip: Leave the door slightly open to al-low the drum to dry.

Washing environmentally and economically

Energy and water consumption

– Water consumption and energy us-age are determined by the size of theload. To make the most of your machine,load the maximum dry load for theprogramme you are using.

– When smaller amounts of laundry arewashed, the automatic load recogni-tion system will reduce the amount ofwater and energy used.

– Use the Express 20 programme forsmall, lightly soiled loads.

– Modern detergents make it possibleto wash at lower temperatures (e.g.20 °C). Washing using lower temper-ature settings will save energy.

– To maintain the hygiene of the ma-chine, carry out a hot wash (60 °C orabove) using powder detergent atregular intervals. Hygiene info will ap-pear in the display to remind you tocarry out a hot wash.

Detergent

– Do not exceed the amounts of deter-gent recommended by the manufac-turer on the packaging.

– Adjust the dosage to the degree ofsoiling of the laundry.

– Reduce the amount of detergent withsmaller loads (approx. ⅓ less thanthe amount recommended can beused when washing a half load).

When drying with a tumble dryer

Selecting the highest possible spinspeed for the wash programme willsave energy when drying in a tumbledryer afterwards.

EcoFeedbackYou can call up information about theenergy and water consumption of yourwashing machine with the EcoFeedbacksensor.

The following information will appear inthe display:

– an estimate of the energy and waterconsumption before the programmebegins.

– the actual energy and water con-sumption during the programme or atthe end of the programme.

1. Estimate

After selecting a programme, touchthe EcoFeedback sensor.

The estimated energy consumptionlevels will be displayed as a bar chart.

Energy

Touch the or sensor to changeto the estimated water consumptionlevels.

Water

The more bars () visible, the higher theenergy or water consumption.

The estimate will vary depending on thewash programme, temperature and anyoptions selected.

The display will change automatically oryou can return to the standard displayby touching the OK sensor.

2. Actual consumption

You can view the actual amount of en-ergy and water used by the programmewhich has just been run both duringand at the end of the programme.

Touch the EcoFeedback sensor.

The consumption will alter as the pro-gramme progresses.

If the door is opened or the washingmachine has switched off automatic-ally at the end of the programme, thedata will revert to the estimated con-sumption.

Tip: You can view the consumptiondata for the last wash programme inSettings under Consumption.

1. Prepare the laundry

Empty all pockets.

Foreign objects (e.g. nails, coins,paper clips, etc.) can cause damageto garments and to components inthe machine.Check the laundry before washingand remove any foreign objects.

Sort the laundry

Sort the laundry by colour and bycare label. Most garments have a tex-tile care label in the collar or sideseam.

Tip: Dark textiles often contain excessdye and should be washed separatelyseveral times before being included in amixed load. Always wash whites andcoloureds separately.

Pre-treat stains

Badly soiled areas, stains etc. shouldbe cleaned as soon as possible,preferably whilst still fresh. Spillagesshould be carefully dabbed off usinga soft, colourfast cloth. Do not rub.

Tip: Badly soiled areas can be pre-treated with liquid detergent, stain re-movers etc. first, following the manu-facturer's instructions. With particularlystubborn stains ask your dry cleaner foradvice.

Solvent-based cleaners (e.g.benzine) can damage plastic parts.When pre-treating garments, makesure that any plastic parts (e.g. but-tons) are protected from cleaningagent.

Chemical (solvent-based) clean-ing agents can cause severe damageto the washing machine.Do not use solvent-based cleaningagents in this machine.

General tips

– Curtains: Remove lead weights firstor place in a laundry bag.

– Underwiring and collar stiffeners: Anyloose wiring in bras, shirt collarstiffeners, etc. should be removed orsewn in.

– Close any zips, attach velcro fasten-ers, fasten hooks and eyes etc. be-fore washing.

– Fasten duvet covers, pillow casesetc. to prevent small items from beingrolled up inside them.

Do not wash any items in this washingmachine which are specified by themanufacturer as not washable on thecare label ( symbol).

A. Selecting a programme via theprogramme selector:

Turn the programme selector to therequired programme.

The load for the programme selectedwill appear in the display. This will thenbe replaced by the standard display.

B. Selecting a programme using theprogramme selector at the "Furtherprogrammes" position:

Turn the programme selector to Fur-ther programmes.

The following will appear in the display:

Touch the or sensor until theprogramme you want appears in thedisplay.

Confirm the programme with the OKsensor.

The maximum load for the relevant pro-gramme will appear in the display. Pre-set programme parameters will be dis-played depending on the programmeselected.

3. Load the washing machine

Open the door


Check the drum for pets or foreignobjects before loading it with laun-dry.

The most efficient use of energy andwater is achieved when a full load iswashed. However, do not overload asthis reduces cleaning efficiency andcauses creases.

Unfold the laundry and load looselyinto the drum.

Mixing both large and small itemsgives better wash results and alsohelps distribute the load evenly duringspinning.

Tip: Please note the maximum load forthe different wash programmes. The rel-evant programme load is always shownin the display when you select a pro-gramme.

Close the door

Make sure that no items are caughtbetween the door and the seal.

Shut the door with a gentle swing.

4. Select programme settings

Degree of soilingLightly soiled No visible dirt or stains. Possibly slightbody odour.

Normally soiled Visibly dirty and/or just a few slightstains.

Heavily soiled Soiling and/or stains clearly visible.

Tip: You can switch on the degree ofsoiling query and select the default set-ting for the degree of soiling (see "Set-tings - Degree of soiling").

If the degree of soiling query has beenswitched on, the following will appear inthe display:

The display will change automatically tothe degree of soiling query:

Normal

Set the degree of soiling with the and sensors and confirm your se-lection with the OK sensor.

The following parameters will changedepending on the degree of soiling se-lected:

– with the Heavy degree of soiling set-ting, a pre-wash will be carried outautomatically for some programmes(see "Options").

– the rinse water level will be adjusted

– the programme durations (with lightsoiling the programme duration willbe shorter)

In the Express 20 programme the de-gree of soiling cannot be selected. Ex-press 20 is designed for lightly soiledlaundry.

Select a temperature

You can alter the pre-set temperatureof a wash programme.

Press the Temperature button.

Set the temperature you want withthe and sensors and confirmyour selection with the OK sensor.

The indicator light in the button willcome on.

Not all options are suitable for usewith every programme. You can onlyselect options which are compatiblewith the programme being used.

Switch on delay start (if re-quired)The start of a programme can bedelayed from 15 minutes up to 24hours, allowing you to make use ofnight-time economy electricity rates, forexample.

See "Delay start".

5. Add detergent

There are several options for adding de-tergent.

Detergent dispenser drawerToo little detergent results in:

– Laundry not getting properly cleanand with time it may become greyand hard to the touch.

– Greasy particles clinging to laundry.

– Limescale deposits on the heater ele-ments.

Too much detergent results in:

– Excessive foam which causes a lowlevel of agitation and poor wash,rinse and spin results.

– High water consumption (an addi-tional rinse cycle will automaticallyswitch in).

– A burden to the environment.

Pull out the detergent dispenserdrawer and add detergent to thecompartments as follows:

Detergent for the pre-wash (divide thetotal recommended amount as follows:add ⅓ to compartment and ⅔ tocompartment )

Detergent for the main wash

/Fabric conditioner, liquid starch or cap-sules.

See "Detergent" for further information.

Inserting a capsule Open the detergent dispenser drawer.

Open the lid of the / compart-ment.

Press the capsule in firmly.

Close the lid and press it firmly shut.

Close the detergent dispenserdrawer.

The capsule is opened by the act ofinserting it in the detergent dispenserdrawer. The contents can run out ofthe capsule if you then remove itfrom the drawer before it is used.In this case, dispose of the capsuleand do not re-use it.

The wash programme will dispense thecontents of the capsule at the correcttime.

Water intake to the compartmentis solely via the capsule.No additional fabric conditioner maybe added to the compartmentwhen using a capsule.

Remove the empty capsule at theend of the programme.

For technical reasons a small amountof water will remain in the capsule.

Deactivating/changing Cap-Dosing Touch the Cap sensor and follow

the instructions in the display.

6. Start the programme - the end of a programme

Start the programme Touch the flashing Start/Stop sensor.

The door will lock (the will appear inthe display to show this) and the pro-gramme will start.

If a delay start time has been selected,then this will count down in the display.At the end of the delay start time or im-mediately after the programme has star-ted (if no delay start time has been se-lected), the programme duration will ap-pear in the display.

The programme sequence is alsoshown in the display. The washing ma-chine lets you know which section ofthe programme has been reached.

At the end of a programmeThe door is still locked during the anti-crease phase and the following will ap-pear alternately in the display:

Pull open the door.

Remove the laundry.

Items left in the drum could discolourother items in the next wash or be-come discoloured themselves.Check that all items have been re-moved from the drum.

Check the folds in the door seal forany small articles, e.g. buttons, whichmight be lodged there.

Tip: Leave the door slightly open to al-low the drum to dry.

Switch the washing machine off withthe button.

If applicable, remove the used cap-sule from the detergent dispensingdrawer.

Tip: Leave the detergent dispenserdrawer slightly open to allow it to dry.

Final spin speed in the pro-grammeWhen a programme is selected the op-timum spin speed for that programmewill appear in the display. For pro-grammes marked with a * in the chart,the optimum spin speed is not the max-imum spin speed.

You can reduce the final spin speed.

However, you cannot select a final spinspeed higher than that shown in thechart.

Rinse and interim spinThere is a spin after the main wash andbetween the rinses. A reduction in thefinal spin speed will also reduce the in-terim spin speed. If a spin speed of lessthan 700 rpm is selected for the Cot-tons programme, an additional rinse isintroduced.

To omit the final spin (Rinsehold) Use the Spin speed button to select

the setting (Rinse hold). The laun-dry is not spun after the final rinseand remains in the final rinse water.This helps prevent creasing if thelaundry is not going to be removedfrom the drum immediately after theend of the programme.

– To start the final spin:The washing machine will display themaximum spin speed possible. Youcan select a spin speed lower thanthis. Start the final spin by pressingthe Start/Stop button.

– To end the programme:Use the Spin speed button to selectthe 0 rpm setting (Without spin) andpress the Start/Stop button.

The water will drain away.

To omit rinse and interim spinand the final spin Press the Spin speed button.

Select the 0 rpm setting.

After the last rinse, the water will bepumped away and the anti-creasephase will switch in.

In some programmes an additional rinseis introduced with this setting.

Delay start

With delay start you can choose whenyou want the programme to start. Youcan delay the start of the programmefrom 15 minutes up to a maximum of 24hours, allowing you to make use ofnight-time economy electricity rates, forexample.

Notes – Optimum results can be achieved by using Miele machine cleaner.Alternatively, a universal powder detergent can be used.

– Dispense the machine cleaner or universal detergent directly intothe drum.

– Do not load any laundry. The drum must be empty for the main-tenance wash.

ProgrammeManagerThe ProgrammeManager option can beused to customise the washing pro-grammes to suit your requirements.

Intensive

For hard-wearing laundry that is veryheavily soiled. Cleaning efficiency is in-creased through more intense mechan-ical action and the application of moreheat energy.

ECO

This option reduces energy consump-tion whilst maintaining cleaning effi-ciency. This is achieved by increasingthe wash duration and at the same timereducing the wash temperature selec-ted.

Extra gentle

This option decreases mechanical ac-tion in order to reduce creasing.

Extra quiet

This option reduces noise levels duringthe programme. Use this if you want towash during quiet periods (for instancewhen children are sleeping). The ma-chine will activate the "Rinse hold" op-tion and not spin. The programme dura-tion is longer.

AllergoWash

This option should be used where highstandards of hygiene are required. Moreenergy is used to lengthen temperatureholding times and more water is used toincrease rinsing efficiency.

Not all ProgrammeManager optionsare suitable for use with every pro-gramme. Please refer to the "Washprogramme chart - ProgrammeMan-ager" for a list of suitable pro-grammes.

Pre-ironing In order to reduce creasing, the laundryundergoes a smoothing process at theend of the programme. Reducing themaximum load by 50% will give a betterresult. Please note the load informationin the display. Small loads give a betterresult.

The garments must be suitable for dry-ing in a tumble dryer and suitablefor ironing .

ShortUse this option for light soiling with novisible staining.

The wash duration is reduced.

Water plusThe water level in the wash and rinsestages is increased and a second rinseis carried out in the "Separate rinse /Starch" programme.

You can select other functions for theWater plus button. These are describedin "Settings".

StainsIn order to clean stained laundry moreeffectively, you can choose between 7different types of stain. The wash pro-gramme will then adapt to the type ofstain selected. You can select one stainper wash cycle.

The washing machine has fully elec-tronic controls with automatic load re-cognition. It takes in the right amount ofwater required for the programme de-pending on the amount of laundry andits absorbency rate.

The programme sequences shown inthe chart are based on the standardprogramme with a full load.

The washing machine programme se-quence display shows which stage ofthe programme has been reached.

Special features in the pro-gramme sequenceAnti-crease:At the end of the programme the drumcontinues to turn at intervals for up to30 minutes to help prevent creasing.Exception: There is no anti-creasephase in the Woollens and Silks pro-grammes.The door can be opened at any timeduring the anti-crease phase.1) If a temperature of 60 °C or higher is

Cottons and Minimum ironPowerWash 2.0, the washing techniquedeveloped by Miele, is activated in theCottons programme with small and me-dium-sized loads and in the Minimumiron programme

How it works

Conventional washing techniques washwith more water than the laundry canabsorb. This total volume of waterneeds to be heated.

The PowerWash 2.0 washing techniqueonly uses slightly more water than thelaundry can absorb. The water whichhas not been absorbed by the laundryheats up the drum and the laundry andis sprayed into the laundry over andover again. This reduces the amount ofenergy used.

Activation

The washing machine calculates theload at the beginning of the wash pro-gramme. PowerWash 2.0 is activated ifthe following conditions are present:

– there is a small to medium-sizedlaundry load in the Cottons pro-gramme and in the Minimum ironprogramme.

– the temperature selected must not bemore than 60 °C.

– the final spin speed selected mustnot be lower than 600 rpm.

– CapDosing (, ) ) has not been se-lected for the main wash.

With some options (e.g. Pre-wash,Water plus) PowerWash 2.0 is not ac-tivated.

Special features

– Drenching phaseThe washing machine will spin a fewtimes at the beginning of the pro-gramme. During spinning, the waterdischarged is sprayed back into thelaundry in order to achieve optimummoisture penetration.

The optimum water level is set at theend of the drenching phase. If neces-sary, the washing machine will pumpwater away or take in a little morefresh water.

– Noises during the heating phaseUnusual bubbling noises can occurwhile the laundry and the drum arebeing heated.

– DetergentDispense the correct amount of de-tergent (with smaller loads).

Cancelling a programmeYou can cancel a programme at anytime after it has started:

The suds will be pumped away. The fol-lowing will appear in the display:

Select the programme you want.

Changing a programmeAfter the start of a programme it is nolonger possible to select a different pro-gramme.

Temperature

With the exception of the Cottons pro-gramme, it is possible to select a differ-ent temperature up to 5 minutes afterthe programme has started.

Press the Temperature button.

Use the , and OK sensors tochange the temperature.

Spin speed

It is possible to change the spin speedup until the final spin begins.

Press the Spin speed button.

Use the , and OK sensors tochange the spin speed.

Options

It is possible to select or deselect theShort and Water plus options up to 5minutes after the programme has star-ted.

Tip: It is not possible to make anychanges to the programme or to cancelit if the safety lock has been activated.

– the water is above a certain level.

– the programme has reached the Spinstage.

If you want to open the door when theabove conditions are present you willneed to cancel the programme.

The safety lock will remain activated ifthe temperature in the drum is above55 °C. The lock will not deactivate un-til the temperature has dropped to be-low 55 °C.

The right amount to dispensewill depend on the following:– the soiling level of the load

– the quantity of the laundry

– the water hardness level.Check with your local water supplierif you do not know the hardness levelin your area.

Water softenersA water softener can be used to cutdown on the use of detergents in areaswith water hardness levels II and III.Dispense according to the amount spe-cified on the packaging. First add deter-gent and then the water softener.

You can then use the recommendedamount of detergent for water hardnesslevel I.

Dispensing fabric conditionerand liquid starch at the end ofthe programme

Add the fabric conditioner or liquidstarch to the compartment or in-sert the appropriate capsule. Do notexceed the maximum level mark.

The agent will be automatically dis-pensed in the last rinse. At the end ofthe programme a small amount of waterwill remain in the compartment.

Starch can make the siphon tubesticky.If starching frequently, thoroughlyclean the dispenser compartment,especially the siphon tube regularly.

Adding fabric conditioner or liquidstarch separately

Prepare the starch in accordance withthe manufacturer's instructions on thepackaging.

Add fabric conditioner to the com-partment or insert the appropriatecapsule.

Add liquid starch to the compart-ment and powder or viscous starch tothe compartment.

Select the Separate rinse / Starchprogramme.

Change the spin speed if necessary. Activate the Cap sensor if using a

capsule. Press the Start/Stop button.

Colour run and dye removers/dyes

Colour run and dye removerscan cause corrosion in the washingmachine.Do not use colour run or dye re-movers in this washing machine.

Dyes suitable for use in domestic wash-ing machines can be used. However,please note that the salt used in thedyeing process can cause corrosion tostainless steel components in the ma-chine if you dye frequently. Always ob-serve the manufacturer's instructionscarefully.

When using the washing ma-chine to dye fabric it is essential toselect the Water plus option.

Cleaning the drum (Hygiene info)Washing at low temperatures and/or us-ing liquid detergent can cause bacteriaand unpleasant odours to build up inthe washing machine. Use the Mainten-ance wash programme to clean the ma-chine. Run this programme regularly orat the latest when Hygiene info appearsin the display.

External casing and fasciapanel

Disconnect the machine from themains electricity supply before clean-ing or maintenance.

The washing machine must notbe hosed down.

Clean the casing and fascia panelwith a mild non-abrasive cleaningagent or soap and water using a wellwrung-out cloth. Wipe dry with a softcloth.

The drum can be cleaned with a pro-prietary stainless steel cleaningagent, following the manufacturer'sinstructions on the packaging.

Do not use solvents, abrasivecleaners, glass cleaners or multi-pur-pose cleaning agents. These coulddamage plastic surfaces and otherparts.

Cleaning the detergent dis-penser drawer

Washing at low temperatures and theuse of liquid detergent can lead to abuild-up of mould and bacteria in thedetergent dispenser drawer.

For hygiene reasons, clean the entiredrawer at regular intervals.

Pull out the detergent dispenserdrawer until a resistance is felt. Pressdown the release button and at thesame time pull the drawer right out ofthe machine.

Clean the drawer with hot water.

Cleaning the siphon tube and thechannel

Liquid starch can cause the siphonto become clogged. Make sure thatyou clean the siphon and siphontube particularly thoroughly after us-ing liquid starch a few times.

Clean the siphon.

1. Remove the siphon from the com-partment and rinse under hot runningwater. Clean the siphon tube at thesame time.

2. Replace the siphon.

Clean the fabric conditioner channelwith a brush and hot water.

Cleaning the detergent dispenserdrawer housing

Use a bottle brush to remove deter-gent residues and limescale from thejets inside the detergent dispenserdrawer housing.

Replace the detergent dispenserdrawer.

Tip: Leave the detergent dispenserdrawer slightly open to allow it to dry.

Cleaning the water inlet filtersThe washing machine has two filters toprotect the water inlet valve. These fil-ters should be checked every sixmonths or so, or more often if there arefrequent interruptions to the water sup-ply.

To clean the filter in the union in theopen end of the inlet hose:

First turn off the stopcock.

Unscrew the inlet hose from the stop-cock.

Remove the rubber seal 1 from therecess.

Using pointed pliers, take hold of theplastic filter bar 2 and remove it.

Clean the filter.

Replace the filter and seal back in thereverse order and reconnect thehose.

To clean the filter in the water inletvalve:

Using pliers, carefully loosen theribbed plastic nut on the inlet valveand unscrew.

Use pointed nose pliers to withdrawthe plastic filter by the bar (see illus-tration).

Clean the filter.

Replace the filter in the reverse order.

After cleaning the filters, turn on thestopcock and check the connectionis watertight. If water drips out,tighten the connection.

The two filters must be put back inplace after cleaning.

Minor faults in the performance of the washing machine, some of which may resultfrom incorrect operation, can be put right without contacting the Service Depart-ment.

The following guide may help you to find the reason for a fault, and to correct it.You should, however, note the following:

Repair work to electrical appliances should only be carried out by a suitablyqualified person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regu-lations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. Themanufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.

Some of the messages in the display are more than one line long. Touch the or sensor to read them in full.

The programme does not start

Problem Cause and remedy

The display remainsdark, and the Start/Stopbutton indicator lightdoes not come on.

There is no power to the machine. Check whether the mains plug is plugged in and

switched on. Check whether the fuse or circuit breaker has

tripped.The washing machine has switched off automaticallyto save energy. Switch it back on with the button.

Access via a code has been activated. Enter the code and confirm the entry. Deactivate

the code if you do not wish this message to ap-pear in the display the next time the machine isswitched on.

The door is not closed properly. The door lock couldnot engage. Close the door again. Start the programme again.

If the fault message appears again, contact theService Department.

The water protection system has reacted. Close the stopcock. Call the Service Department.

Service Fault F There is a fault. Disconnect the washing machine from the mains

electricity supply, either by switching off at the wallsocket and withdrawing the plug, or by discon-necting the relevant fuse on the mains fuse board.

Wait at least 2 minutes, before reconnecting thewashing machine to the mains electricity supply.

Then switch the washing machine on again. Restart the programme.

If the fault message appears again, contact theService Department.

To switch off the fault messages: Switch the washing machine off with the but-ton.

A message appears in the display at the end of the programme


Check dosage Excessive foam has built up during washing. Use less detergent next time, and follow the man-

ufacturer's recommended dosage amounts on thepackaging.

Hygiene info A programme using a temperature above 60 °C hasnot been run for a long time. In order to prevent bacteria and unpleasant odours

building up in the machine, run the Maintenancewash programme using Miele machine cleaner orpowder detergent.

Check filter + jet The pumps are dirty. Clean the pumps as described in "Problem solving

guide - Opening the door in the event of a blockeddrain outlet and/or power failure"

Start the programme again after cleaning thepumps.

The jet in the top of the door ring is blocked with fluff. Remove the fluff with your finger. Do not use any

sharp or pointed tools to do this. Start the programme again after cleaning the jet.

If the fault message appears again, contact the Ser-vice Department. The washing machine can still beused but with reduced functionality.

The messages will appear at the end of the programme and when the washingmachine is switched on and need to be confirmed with the OK sensor.

Align the machine The smoothing process which the laundry undergoesat the end of the programme could not be carried outproperly. Check whether the washing machine is aligned

correctly as described in "Installation and connec-tion - Levelling the machine".

Check whether the maximum delivery height of1 m has been exceeded.

If the fault message appears again, contact the Ser-vice Department. The washing machine can still beused but with reduced functionality.

The messages will appear at the end of the programme and when the washingmachine is switched on and need to be confirmed with the OK sensor.

General problems with the washing machine


The machine shakesduring the spin cycle.

The machine feet are not level. Level the machine and adjust the feet correctly.

The laundry has notbeen spun properly andis still wet.

The machine detected an imbalance during the finalspin cycle and reduced the spin speed automatically. Include both large and small items in the load as

this will give better distribution during spinning.

Strange pump noisescan be heard.

This is not a fault.These slurping noises occur at the end of the pumpsequence as a normal part of operation.

Large amounts of deter-gent residue remain inthe detergent dispenserdrawer.

The water pressure is too low. Clean the water inlet filter. It may be useful to select the Water plus option.

Powder detergent used in conjunction with watersofteners tends to become sticky. In future, add washing powder into the dispenser

drawer first, and then add the water softener.

Fabric conditioner is notcompletely dispensedor too much water re-mains in the com-partment.

The siphon tube is not correctly positioned or isclogged. Clean the siphon, see "Cleaning and care - Clean-

ing the detergent dispenser drawer".

At the end of the pro-gramme there is still li-quid in the capsule.

The small pipe in the detergent dispenser drawer ontowhich the capsule is placed is blocked. Clean the small pipe.

This is not a fault.For technical reasons a small amount of water will re-main in the capsule.

General problems with the washing machine


There is water next tothe capsule in the fabricconditioner compart-ment.

The Cap sensor was not activated or an emptycapsule was not removed at the end of the last pro-gramme. Make sure that you remember to activate the Cap

sensor the next time you insert a capsule. Remove and then dispose of the empty capsule at

the end of each programme.The small pipe in the detergent dispenser drawer ontowhich the capsule is placed is blocked. Clean the small pipe.

The washing machinesmells.

Hygiene info was ignored. A wash programme using atemperature above 60 °C has not been run for a longtime. In order to prevent bacteria and unpleasant odours

building up in the washing machine, run the Main-tenance wash programme using Miele machinecleaner or a universal powder detergent.

The door and the detergent dispenser drawer wereleft open after washing. Leave the door and the detergent dispenser

drawer slightly open to allow them to dry.

The display is in a dif-ferent language.

A different language has been selected in "Settings,Language ". Set the language you want. The flag symbol will

guide you.

The display is dark. The display has switched off automatically to saveenergy (Standby mode). Press a button. Standby comes to an end.

An unsatisfactory wash result


Liquid detergent doesnot give the requiredresult.

Liquid detergents usually contain no bleachingagents. They do not remove fruit, coffee and teastains. Use a general purpose powder detergent contain-

ing a bleaching agent. Use the appropriate capsule or add stain removers

to the compartment. Never put stain removers and liquid detergent to-

gether in the dispenser drawer.

Grey, greasy particlescling to washed laundry.

Insufficient amounts of detergent were used to breakdown the particles of grease in heavily soiled laundry. Use more detergent. Before washing the next load, run the Maintenance

wash using Miele machine cleaner or a powder de-tergent.

White residues whichlook like powder deter-gent are seen on darktextiles after washing.

The detergent contained compounds (zeolites) to aidwater softening which are not soluble in water. Thesehave ended up on the laundry. Try and brush off the residues with a soft brush

once the laundry is dry. Wash dark textiles using a detergent which con-

tains no zeolites. Liquid detergents usually containno zeolites.

Use the Dark garments / Denim programme fordark coloured laundry.

The door will not open


The door cannot bepulled open during aprogramme.

The drum is locked during a programme. Press the Start/Stop button. Use the sensor to select Cancel programme or

Add laundry.

The door will unlock and you will be able to pull itopen.There is still water in the drum and the machine is un-able to drain. Clean the drain filter and the drain pump as de-

scribed in "Opening the door in the event of ablocked drain outlet and/or power failure".

The water level in the drum is too high. Cancel the programme. The water will be pumped

away.

Comfort coolingappears in the displayafter a programme hasbeen cancelled.

For safety reasons the drum door cannot be opened ifthe suds temperature is higher than 55 °C. Wait until the temperature in the drum has de-

creased and the message has gone out in the dis-play.

The following appearsin the display: Service Door release

The door lock has jammed. Call the Service Department.

If the drain outlet is blocked, a largequantity of water can remain in thewashing machine.

If laundry has been washed at ahigh temperature, water draining outof the machine will still be hot.Danger of scalding!Take care when draining the ma-chine.

Procedure for draining the washingmachine

When draining water from the ma-chine, do not unscrew the drain fil-ters completely or take them rightout.

Place a suitable container, e.g. aMiele universal oven tray under theaccess panel.

Slowly and carefully unscrew the fil-ters to let the water out. Be carefulnot to release too much water atonce. If the flow of water is toostrong, some water can seep into thewashing machine base and activatethe water protection float switch. Thiswill prevent the washing machinefrom functioning.

Tighten the drain filters back up againif you need to interrupt the flow ofwater.

Once the flow of water ceases:

Remove the drain filters completely.

Clean them thoroughly.

Remove any foreign objects (e.g. but-tons, coins, etc.) and fluff from the fil-ter housing. Turn the impellers byhand to check that they rotate freely.

Replace the drain filters correctly (onthe right and left) and tighten themsecurely.

Water leaking from the washingmachine can cause damage.Replace and tighten the drain filterssecurely.

Opening the door

Always make sure that the drumis stationary before reaching in to re-move laundry. Reaching into a mov-ing drum is extremely dangerous.

Use a screwdriver to unlock the door.

Pull open the door.

Installation surfaceA concrete floor is the most suitable in-stallation surface for a washing ma-chine, being far less prone to vibrationduring the spin cycle than woodenfloorboards or a carpeted surface.

Please note:

The machine must be level and se-curely positioned.

To avoid vibrations during spinning,the machine should not be installedon soft floor coverings.

If installing on a wooden joist floor:

We recommend a plywood base atleast 59 x 52 x 3 cm). The baseshould span several joists and bebolted to the joist and not only thefloorboards. Check for the presenceof pipes and cables first.

Tip: If possible, install the machine in acorner, as this is usually the most stablepart of the floor.

There is the danger of the wash-ing machine moving about duringspinning and falling off a plinth.For this reason, if the machine is in-stalled on a raised plinth (concrete orbrick), it has to be secured againstslippage using an MTS floor/plinthmounting kit (available from Miele).

Transporting the washing ma-chine to its installation site

Make sure the fixings at the backof the lid are secure.Otherwise there is a danger of the lidbeing pulled off when carrying themachine.Before carrying the machine checkthat the lid is secure where it pro-trudes at the back of the machine.

Carry the washing machine by thefront feet and the protruding lid at theback.

Removing the transit bars

To remove the left and right covers

1. Pull on the attached stopper,

2. then use a screwdriver to release thecatches at the top and bottom.

Using the spanner supplied, turn theleft-hand transit bar 90°, then

pull the transit bar out.

Turn the right-hand transit bar 90°,then

pull the transit bar out.

To avoid the risk of injury, theholes for the transit bars must becovered after the transit bars havebeen removed.

Plug the holes with the plastic capsas illustrated.

Secure the transit bars to the back ofthe washing machine. Make sure thetop catch is located above the holder.

The washing machine must notbe moved without the transit bars inplace. Store them as shown or keepthem in a safe place for future use.They must be re-fitted if the machineis to be moved again (e.g. whenmoving house).

Re-fitting the transit barsRe-fitting is carried out by reversing theprocedure.

Levelling the machineThe washing machine must stand per-fectly level on all four feet to ensuresafe and proper operation.

Incorrect installation may increase elec-tricity and water consumption and maycause the machine to move about.

Screwing out and adjusting the feet

The four adjustable screw feet are usedto level the machine. All four feet arescrewed in when the machine is de-livered.

Using the spanner supplied turncounter nut 2 in a clockwise direction.Then turn counter nut 2 together withfoot 1 to unscrew.

Use a spirit level to check that thewashing machine is standing level.

Hold foot 1 securely with a pipewrench. Turn counter nut 2 again us-ing the spanner supplied until it sitsfirmly up against the housing.

All four counternuts must befirmly up against the housing. Pleasealso check this for the feet which didnot need adjustment. Otherwisethere is a danger of the machinemoving about.

Building under a continuous work-top/ in a kitchen run

Building under kits* must only be in-stalled/dismantled by a suitably qual-ified fitter in accordance with the in-structions supplied.

– A special building under kit* with acover plate to replace the machine lidis required. It must be fitted by a suit-ably qualified fitter to ensure elec-trical safety. N.B. If there is space topush the washing machine under theworktop without removing the lid, thebuilding under kit is not necessary.Otherwise it is essential.

– Connections for electricity, water anddrainage should be installed in such away that they remain accessiblewhen the machine is in its final posi-tion.

Fitting instructions are supplied with theconversion kit.

Washer-dryer stack

The washing machine can be combinedwith a Miele tumble dryer in a washer-dryer stack. The appropriate "WTV"stacking kit* to match your dryer is re-quired.

The water protection systemThe Miele water protection system pro-tects all parts of the washing machinefrom water damage.

The system consists of three main com-ponents:

– the inlet hose

– the electronic unit and drainage andoverflow protection

– the drain hose

Inlet hose

– Protection against bursting

The inlet hose is tested to withstandpressure of at least 7,000 kPa.

Electronic unit and washing machinehousing

– SumpAny leaking water is collected in asump in the base of the machine. Afloat switches off the water inletvalves, preventing any more waterfrom flowing into the machine andwater in the suds container ispumped away.

– Overflow protectionThis prevents the washing machinetaking in too much water. If the waterlevel exceeds a certain level, thedrain pump switches in and pumpsthe excess water away.

Drain hose

The drain hose is protected by a ventila-tion system which prevents the washingmachine from being emptied com-pletely.

Connection to the water supplyThe washing machine should be con-nected to a mains water supply in ac-cordance with current local and nationalsafety regulations. The German author-ities do not require it to have a non-re-turn valve as the washing machine hasbeen designed to comply with DIN reg-ulations.

The machine is designed to operatewith a flow pressure of between 100and 1,000 kPa. If it is higher than1,000 kPa it is essential to fit a pressurereducing valve.

Connection to the mains water supplyshould incorporate a mains stopcockwith ¾" threaded union. The stopcockshould be fitted by a qualified plumber.

The connection point is subjectto mains water pressure. Turn on thestopcock slowly and check for leaks.Correct the position of the washerand union if appropriate.

The washing machine is not suitablefor connection to a hot water supply.

Maintenance

Only use a genuine Miele hose shouldyou ever need a replacement or exten-sion. These are tested to withstandpressure of at least 7,000 kPa.

In order to protect the water inletvalve, the two dirt filters (one in theopen end of the inlet hose, the otherin the inlet point in the machine)must not be removed.

Extension hose

Longer hoses 2.5 or 4.0 m in length areavailable from your Miele Dealer orMiele as optional extras.

DrainageThe suds are drained through a drainpump with a 1 m delivery head. For thewater to drain freely, the hose must beinstalled free of kinks. The elbow piecesupplied hooks onto the end of thehose.If required, the hose can be extended toa length of up to 5 m. The necessaryparts can be ordered from Miele.

For a delivery head of more than 1 m(up to a max. of 1.8 m) a replacementdrain pump will need to be fitted.Please contact Miele for advice.If required, the hose can be extended toa length of up to 2.5 m. The necessaryparts can be ordered from Miele.

Drainage options:

Please note:

– Hook the hose over the edge andsecure it.

– If the water is pumped into awashbasin, make sure that it candrain away freely. Otherwise thereis a risk of water overflowing or ofsome of the drained water beingsucked back into the machine.

2. Connected securely to a plastic drainpipe with a rubber nipple (there is noneed to use a siphon).

3. Connected securely to a floor gully.

4. Connected securely to a washbasinwith a plastic nipple.

Electrical connection U.K.All electrical work should be carried outby a suitably qualified and competentperson, in strict accordance with cur-rent national and local safety regula-tions (BS 7671 in the UK).

Ensure power is not supplied to the ap-pliance until after installation work hasbeen carried out.

The appliance is supplied with a mainscable with moulded plug ready for con-nection to a 230-240V mains supply.

Please ensure the connection dataquoted on the data plate match thehousehold mains supply.

Connection should be made via a suit-able switched socket which is easily ac-cessible after installation.

For extra safety it is advisable to protectthe machine with a suitable residualcurrent device (RCD). Contact a quali-fied electrician for advice.

Non-rewireable plugs BS 1363

The fuse cover must be refitted whenchanging the fuse, and if the fuse coveris lost, the plug must not be used until asuitable replacement is obtained. Thecolour of the correct replacement coveris that of the coloured insert in the baseof the plug, or the colour that is em-bossed in words on the base of theplug (as applicable to the design of plugfitted).

Replacement fuses should be ASTA ap-proved to BS 1362 and have the correctrating. Replacement fuses and fusecovers may be purchased from yourlocal electrical supplier.

Settings can be altered at any time.

To access Settings

Before you begin, ensure that:

– The washing machine is switched on.

– The standard display is showing.

Language You are now in the Settings menu.

Selecting a setting

Touch the or sensor until thesetting you want appears in the dis-play.

– The sensor scrolls down the list.

– The sensor scrolls up the list.

Touch the OK sensor to select thesetting displayed.

Changing a setting

Touching the sensor will call up thedifferent options for the setting.

The option which is selected will havea tick next to it.

When the option you want shows inthe display touch the OK sensor toactivate it.

To exit Settings

Touch the and sensors at thesame time or turn the programme se-lector.

Language

The display can be set to appear inone of several different languages.

The flag after the word Language actsas a guide to prevent a language whichwill not be understood from being set.

The selected language will be stored inmemory.

Degree of soiling

You can select the default setting forthe degree of soiling or switch the de-gree of soiling query on or off.

Buzzer volume

You can select one of seven differentsettings for the buzzer volume.

The settings are represented by a barchart. At the lowest setting, the buzzeris switched off.

Keypad tone

Each touch of a sensor or press of abutton is confirmed with an audibletone.

The volume for the keypad tone can beset to one of seven different settings.

Consumption

In this setting you can check thesaved energy and water consumptionvalues.

Options

– last programmeShows the consumption for the lastwash programme carried out.

– DisplayShows the sum of the energy and thesum of the water used by the previ-ous programmes.

– Reset functionThe energy consumption and waterconsumption totals are reset to zero.

Code

The code prevents the washing ma-chine being used without your know-ledge.

Options

– ActivateThe code is 125 and can be activ-ated.When the code has been activated,you have to enter the code afterswitching the washing machine on.Otherwise the washing machine can-not be operated.

– DeactivateFor using the washing machinewithout entering the code. This onlyappears if the code has been activ-ated previously.

– ChangeYou can enter a code of your own.

Important. Make a note of your newcode. If you forget the code, thewashing machine will need to be un-locked by Miele Service.

Temperature unit

The temperature can be displayed asdegrees Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

Factory default setting: Celsius (°C).

Display brightness

There are seven different displaybrightness settings.

The brightness changes as soon as youselect a different setting.

Dark display

To save energy, the display will go outand the Start/Stop button will flashslowly.

Options

– OnThe display will go out after 10minutes.

– On (not in current programme)The display will remain on while theprogramme is running but will go out10 minutes after the end of the pro-gramme.

– OffThe display will remain on.

Factory default setting: the On (not incurrent programme) option is selected.

Machine switch-off

The washing machine will switch offautomatically after the end of the pro-gramme/anti-crease phase or after be-ing switched on if no further selectionis made.

Options

– 15 minutes (Factory default setting)The washing machine will switch it-self off after 15 minutes.

– 20 minutesThe washing machine will switch it-self off after 20 minutes.

– 30 minutesThe washing machine will switch it-self off after 30 minutes.

Display maximum load

After a programme is selected themaximum load appears in the displayfor a short time.

You can choose whether the maximumloading capacity is displayed or not.

Factory default setting: Display max-imum load is switched on.

Display programme name

The name of the selected programmeis shown briefly in the display.

You can choose whether the pro-gramme name is displayed or not.

Factory default setting: the Display pro-gramme name setting is switched off.

Memory

The washing machine will save thesettings (temperature, spin speed andsome of the options) which have beenselected for a programme after theprogramme has started.

When this programme is chosen again,these saved settings will appear in thedisplay.

Factory default setting: the Memoryfunction is switched off.

Pre-wash Cottons

If you require a longer pre-wash youcan extend the Cottons programme'sstandard pre-wash time of 25 minutes

Gentle action

Activating gentle action reduces thedrum action and is suitable for wash-ing slightly soiled items more gently.

Gentle action can be activated for theCottons and Minimum iron pro-grammes.

Factory default setting: Gentle action isswitched off.

Reduce temp.

The boiling point for water is lower athigh altitudes. In order to avoid waterboiling, Miele recommend activatingthe reduce temperature setting at alti-tudes of more than 2000 m above sealevel. The maximum temperature is re-duced to 80 °C even when a highertemperature is selected.

Factory default setting: the reduce tem-perature setting is switched off.

Water plus

You can increase the set amount ofwater in the wash programmes.

Options

– Water +The water level is increased in thewash and rinse stages.

– Extra rinseAn extra rinse is carried out.

– Water + and Extra rinseThe water level is increased in thewash and rinse stages and an extrarinse is carried out.

Water plus level

The water level can be increased in 4stages by activating the Water plusoption.

Stages:

– Normal (Factory default setting)

Maximum rinse level

The water level in the rinse cycle canbe permanently set to the highestvalue.

This function is useful for allergy suffer-ers as it achieves an excellent rinse res-ult. Water consumption will increase.

Factory default setting: the maximumrinse level setting is switched off.

Suds cooling

When this is activated, additional wa-ter flows into the drum at the end ofthe main wash to cool the suds down.Hot suds can damage plastic drainagepipes.

Suds cooling takes place when a tem-perature of 70 °C or higher is selectedfor the Cottons programme.

Suds cooling should be activated:

– to prevent the danger of scalding ifthe drain hose is hooked over theedge of a sink or basin.

– where drainage pipes do not complywith DIN 1986.

Factory default setting: Suds cooling isswitched off.

Low water pressure

If the water pressure is less than 1 bar(100 kPa) the programme will be can-celled and the fault message Water in-take See will appear.

If the on-site water pressure cannot beincreased, activating this function willprevent the programme from being can-celled.

Factory default setting: Low water pres-sure is switched off.

Anti-crease

The anti-crease function helps preventcreasing if laundry is not going to beremoved immediately after the end ofthe programme.

The drum continues to turn at intervalsfor up to 30 minutes at the end of theprogramme. The door can be opened atany time.

Factory default setting: anti-crease isswitched on.
