1 General

1.1 Information regarding the operating instructions

Theseoperatinginstructionsprovideimportantinformationforusingthehydraulicpowerunitsandhandpumps.Compliancewithallofthesafetyandhandlinginstructionsspecifiedisaconditionforsafework.

Furthermore,adheretothelocalaccidentpreventionguidelinesandgeneralsafetyregulationsfortheregioninwhichthedevicesareused.

Theinstructionmanualshouldbereadcarfullybeforestartingwork!Itispartoftheproductandmustbekeptinaplacethatisknownandaccessibletopersonnelatalltimes.

Thisdocumentationcontainsinformationforoperatingyourequipment,irrespectiveoftheequipmenttype.Forthisreasonyouwillalsofindexplanationswhichdonotreferdirectlytoyourequipment.

Thehydraulicpowerunitsaredesignedandtestedexclusivelyfortheappropriatedesignatedpurposesdescribedhere.Allotheractivitiesarefundamentallyprohibited.

2.2 Responsibility of the customer

Inadditiontotheworkingsafetyinstructionsinthisoperatingmanual,observesafetyandaccidentprotectionguidelinesandenvironmentalprotectionguidelinesapplicabletotheareaofapplicationoftheequipment.Particularlyapplicableinthisregard:

• Thecustomermustinformhimselfofapplicableindustrialsafety regulationsand,withintheframeworkofahazardanalysis,identify otherhazardsthatmayexistattheequipment‘sinstallationsitedue tothespecificworkingconditions.

• Thecustomermustclearlyregulateandspecifyresponsibilitiesfor installation,operation,maintenance,andcleaning.

• Thecustomermustensurethatallpersonnelwhohandletheequipment havefullyreadandunderstoodtheoperatingmanual.

• Inaddition,theoperatormusttrainpersonnelandinformthemofthe dangersofworkingwiththemachineryatregularintervals.

Moreover,thecustomerisresponsibleforensuringthattheequipmentisalwaysintechnicallyfaultlesscondition.Consequentlythefollowingapplies:

• Aftereveryusage,atleastonceperyear,thedevicemustundergoa visualinspectionbytrainedpersonnel(perDGUVGrundsatz305-002or country-specificdirective).

• Everythreeyears,orintheeventofdoubtsaboutthesafetyorreliability oftheequipment,anadditionalfunctionalandloadtestistobecarried out(perDGUVGrundsatz305-002orcountry-specificdirective).

2.3 Operating personnel

Thefollowingqualificationsarecitedintheoperatingmanualforthevariousactivityareas:

• Trained person Isinformedaboutthetasksassignedtothemandthepossibledangers intheeventofimproperbehaviourthroughcustomertraining.

• Specialist Isanindividualwho,duetotheirspecializedtraining,skills,and experience,aswellasknowledgeoftheapplicablemanufacturer‘s regulationsiscapableofexecutingthetasksassignedtothemand ofrecognizingpossiblehazardsontheirown.

WARNING!Danger of injury due to insufficient training!

Improperhandlingoftheequipmentcanleadtoseriousinjuryormaterialdamage.Thereforeitisimperativethat:

» Particulartasksareonlycarriedoutbythepersonnellistedin theappropriatechapterofthisinstructionmanual.

» Incaseofdoubtcallinspecialistsimmediately.

2.4 Personal protective gear

Wearingpersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE)isessentialtominimizetheriskstooperatingpersonnelwhenworkingwiththepowerunits.

Itisessentialtowearthefollowingprotectiveclothingforallwork:

Protective work clothingTight-fittingworkclothingwithtightsleevesandwithoutprojectingpartsshouldbewornforwork.Itisprimarilyusedtoprotectagainstentanglementbymovingequipmentparts.

Safety footwearSafetyfootwearwithsteeltoecapsmustalwaysbewornasprotectionagainstheavyfallingpartsandfromslippingonslipperyground.

Work glovesWorkglovesmustbewornwhenworkingwiththeequipmentforprotectionagainstsharpedgesandglassfragments.

Helmet with face shield Ahelmetwithfaceshieldmustbewornforprotectionagainstflyingorfallingpartsandglassfragments.

Protective gogglesProtectivegogglesmustalsobeworninadditiontothefaceshieldinordertoprotecttheeyesfromslivers.

With certain work the following must also be worn in addition:

Ear protectorsInadditiontothebasicprotectiveequipment,earprotectorsshouldalsobewornforprotectionagainsthearingdamage.

Thereisanimminentlife-threateningdangeriflivepartsaretouched.Damagetoinsulationortospecificcomponentscan posealife-threateningdanger.

Therefore: » Disconnectthepowersupplyimmediatelyifthereisdamageto

theinsulationandhaveitrepaired.

» Onlyaqualifiedelectricianshouldperformworkontheelectrical equipment.

» Allelectricalworkonthesystemmustbecarriedoutwiththe systemdisconnectedfromthemainspowersupplyandthe systemmustbechecktoconfirmthatitisde-energised.

» Priortoanymaintenance,cleaningorrepairworksthepower supplymustbeswitchedoffandsecuredagainstbeing unintentionallyswitchedbackon.

» Donotbypassfusesorrendertheminoperable.Alwaysuse thecorrectamperagewhenchangingfuses.

» Keepmoistureawayfromliveparts.Moisturecanleadtoa shortcircuit.

Hydraulicpowerunitsservetheoperationoftheassociatedhydraulicrescuedevices.Theyareavailablewithanelectricalengineandwithacombustionengine.Furthermore,onedifferentiatesbetweenequipmentwithandwithoutintegratedrapiddeploymentreelsandcompactpowerunits.

Withalmostallunits,twodevicescanbeoperatedatthesametime,oronedeviceinturbomode.Onthehosereel,therearetwohoses(availableasapairorasaCOAXhose),one15mandtheother20mlong,thatcanbeunrolledeffortlesslyevenunderpressure.

4.3 Hydraulic supply

HosesTheconnectionofthedevicewiththepowerunitiscarriedoutviahighpressurehoses.Hosesareavailableinlengthsof5m,10m,15mand20m.Asthelengthofthelinesincreasessotoodoestheassociatedpressureloss.Withalinelengthof50metresthispressurelossremainsacceptableandhasnosignificanteffect.

CAUTION!Do not use damaged hoses!

Withdamagedhosesthereisadangerofescapinghydraulicmediumunderpressure,orofthehoseswhippingaround.

Therefore: » Thehosesshouldbesubjectedtoavisualinspection(leak-

tightness,surfacedamagesuchaskinks)aftereveryuseand atleastonceperyear.

» Everythreeyears,orintheeventofdoubtsaboutthesafety orreliability,carryoutanadditionalfunctionalandloadtest(as perDGUVGrundsatz305-002orspecificnationaldirective).

Plug-in coupling (SKS)

Connecting:Removetheprotectivecapfromthecouplingmale.Takeholdofthecouplingfemalebytheknurledsleevecoverandpullouttheprotectiveplug.Withonehandtakeholdofsleevecoverofthecouplingfemale,withtheothergraspthecouplingmale(black)bythehexnut,andpressthesleevecoverslightlyagainstthecouplingmaleuntiltheballbearingsengage.Twistingthemalecouplingslightlywhenpressingtogehtereasesthecouplingprocess.Disconnecting:Graspthecouplingmale(black)bythehexnutwithonehandandwiththeothertakeholdofthesleevecoveranddrawitback.Thedisconnectingwillcauseafewdropsofhydraulicoiltoescape.Plugintheprotectivecapsimmediately.

CAUTION!WhencouplingSKSconnectionsthepowerunitoperatinglevermustbeinthe„0“position.

NOTE ! Apressurereliefconnectorisfittedtothehydraulicpowerunitsandthehandpump,withwhichafewdropsofoilcanbedischargedfromthehoses.Thispermitsre-couplingfollowingpressureincreasesinde-coupledequipment.Inthiscasesimplyinsertthepressurereliefconnectorintothecouplingsleeveandturntheknurledscrewtotherightuntiloilleaksout.

5.1 General

Tostarttheunitwithanelectricmotor,thedevicemustbeconnectedtoapowersource.Thensetthemainswitch(ifpresent)toposition1orpressthecorrespondingknobuntilitlightsupwhite.

Forstartingunitswithcombustionengines,pleasereadtheaccompanyingoperatingmanualfromtheenginemanufacturer.

Specialstepsforstartingtheindividualunitsarediscussedseparatelybelow.

CAUTION!WhenusingSKScouplingstheenginemustneverbestartedbeforethecontrolleverisoutofthe„0“positionandtheworkequipmentisconnected!Withsinglecouplingsthisisnotnecessary.

5.2 E/V 50 T-SAH 20, E/V 50 T-SAH 15 COAX, V 40 S, E/V 50 S, V 50 ECO, V-ECOCOMPACT

Thepowerunitisoperatedbythetwocontrollevers(betweentheequipmentbrackets).Theoilflowinthetwohosesetsiscontrolledbythese.Themiddlepositionofthecontrolleversrepresentsthe„0“position.

Two-way operation (with turbo function):Inordertofeedtheentireoilflowintothelefthosepair,bothcontrolleversmustbeturnedtotheleft.

Inordertofeedthewholeoilflowintotherighthosepair,bothcontrolleversmustbeturnedtotheright.

Simultaneous operation:Inordertosupplybothhosepairssimultaneously(withsplitoilflow),theleftcontrollevermustbeturnedtotheleftandtherightcontrollevermustbeturnedtotheright.

Reel wind-up device:Duetotheirdesign,theelectricalunitsareallequippedwithanintegratedwind-updevice(optionalonthecombustionengineversion).Touseit,inserttheseparatelystoredcrankintothereel’sringgear,lockit,andturnit.

Tooperate,simplyturnthecontrolleverinthedirectionofthearrow.Thisinitiatestheoilflowinthehosepair.

5.5 BATTERY PAC ECO

TheBATTERYPACcanbecarriedontheshoulderorusedasanindependent stand-alonebatterypoweredpowerunit.

Inordertostartthedeviceitisnecessarytoactuatetheon/offbutononthetopofthehousing(Fig.1).Thesignallightontheon/offswitchsubsequentlylightsupinwhiteandtheBATTERYPACKstartsautomaticallyinECOmode(idlespeed).Onlyafterpressingthepushbuttonontheconnectedworktooldoesthespeedincreaseautomaticallyandthendecreaseagain.Thissavesenergy(runtimeinECOmodeof5hoursperbattery)andavoidsunnecessarynoise.

Thecouplingcanbestoredinthesidepocket(Fig.2).AfterusethehydraulicfluidlevelshouldalwaysbebetweenMin.andMax.sothatalloftheunitscanbeoperated,asthenominalpressureandtankcontentaredesignedtooperateallWEBERrescueequipment.Theoiltankcanbefilled/drainedveryeasilybyretractingorexpan-dingarescuetool(Fig.3).

5.6 V-ECOSILENT

TostartthepowerunittheyellowECOlevermustfirstbesettothestartposition(„S“).Thenturnthetheignitionswitch(rotaryswitch)totherightto„Choke“andstarttheenginewiththepull-chord.Afterwarmingupturntheignitionswitchtoposition„1“andsettheECOleverto„ECO“.

ControlInordertocontroltheoutputs,twocontrolleversarefitteddirectlyabovethecouplings.Itispossibletocontroltheoilflowwiththese(byslidingtotheside;similartoE/V50-T).

Fuel tapWhentransportingthepowerunitforanextendedperiodthefuelfeedcanbeshutoff.Inordertodosoitisnecessarytoclosethefueltap(red).Thisislocatedunderthemaintenancecoveronthepull-chordside.

Petrol tankThepetroltankcanbefilledviathefillingportundertheblackcoverflaponthetopsideofthedevice.Thefuellevelcanbeseenonthedisplayontheoperatorpanel.

Service instructionThe“Attention”LED(RED)willlightupunderloadafterabout200operatinghours.Afterthat,theunitcanbeusedforanother10to20operatinghoursbeforetheelectricmotor’scarbonbrushesneedtobechanged.Thismustbedonebyaqualifiedperson.

5.8 B-COMPACT ECO

OperationOnebatteryasaminimum,ora230Vpowersupply,mustbeconnectedforthepurposeofoperation.Presstheon/offbuttonontopoftheunittoswitchiton(buttonlightsupinwhiteandthemotorstartsinECO-mode).Subsequentlyconnectthehoseandsetthecontrollevertoposition1(seepage30).Theunitisnowreadyforoperation.

WhentheunitisswitchedontheLEDsmountedonbothsidesarealsosimultaneouslyactivated,sothattheunitcanalsobeusedasaportablespotlightenroutetotheinstallationsite.

Onlyafterpressingthepushbuttonontheconnectedworktooldoesthespeedincreaseautomaticallyandthendecreaseagain.Thissavesenergy(runtimeinECOmodeof5hoursperbattery)andavoidsunnecessarynoise.

Battery operationTheB-COMPACTcanbeoptionallyoperatedusingonebattery,twobatteriesorapowersupply.Bothpowersourcesarealwaysdrainedinparallelhere,whilstthespeedorcapacityoftheunitisnotaffectedbythis.

Itispossibletoremovethebatteryfromthedeviceagainbysimultaneouslypressingthetwolockreleases.

5.9 DPH/DPF 4018 SA (hand pump)

Inorderstartupthehandpump,firstturnthepressurereliefvalvecounter-clockwiseandoperatethepumpleverafewtimes.Thisexhauststheairfromthepump.Finally,turnthepressurereliefvalvefullyinaclockwisedirectionanddonotopenitagainduringsubsequentworkwiththeequipment!

Itisnowpossibletoinitiatetheoilflowtotherescueequipmentbyactuatingthepumplever.

6.4 Power line connection

Onlyconnecttosingle-phaseACcurrentandonlytothelinevoltagespecifiedonthetypeplate.Connectiontopowersocketswithoutanearthingcontactispossible,becausethisisaprotectionclassIIdesign.

6.5 Li-Ion battery

Forsafetyreasons(airtransportregulations),thebatteriesaredelivereduncharged.Beforefirstuse,thebatterymustbecompletelycharged.

6.6 Charging process

Afterinsertingthebatteryintothecharger'sinsertionslot,thebatteryischargedautomatically(redLEDglowscontinuously).

Iftoowarmorcoldabatteryisinsertedintothecharger(redLEDflashes),thechargingprocessstartsautomaticallyassoonasthebatteryhasreachedthecorrectchargingtemperature(0°Cto65°C).ThemaximumchargingcurrentflowsifthetemperatureoftheLi-ionbatteryisbetween0°Cand65°C.

Thechargingtimeisbetween1min.and60min.,dependingonhowmuchthebatteryhasdrained(at3.0Ah).Thechargetimeforthe5.0Ahrechargeablebatteryliesbetween1minand90min.Ifthebatteryisfullycharged,theLEDonthechargerswitchesfromredtogreen.

Thebatterydoesnotneedtoberemovedfromthechargeraftercharging.Thebatterycancontinuetostayinthecharger.Thiscannotoverloadthebattery,anditkeepsthebatteryreadytouse.

IfbothLEDsflashalternately,thebatteryiseithernotcorrectlyplacedoramalfunctionofeitherthebatteryorchargerhasoccurred.Forsafetyreasons,removethechargerandbatteryfromserviceimmediatelyandhaveitcheckedbyanauthorizedcustomerservicecentre.

9.2 Care and maintenance

Thefollowingmeasuresareimperativeintheinterestofmaintainingastateofconstantoperationalreadiness:

• Aftereachuseandatleastonceperyear,thedeviceandtheaccessory partsmustundergoavisualinspection.Youshouldpayparticularattention totheoillevel,engine,hosesandcouplinghalves.

• Everythreeyears,orintheeventofdoubtsaboutthesafetyorreliability oftheequipment,anadditionalfunctionalandloadtestistobecarried out(perDGUVGrundsatz305-002orcountry-specificdirective).

• Fromtimetotime,themovingpartsmustbesprayedwithasuitablegrease.

• Thehydraulicoilinthepowerunitmustbecompletelyreplacedevery threeyears.

• Everythreeyearsthehydraulioilofthepowerunitsmustbereplaced.

• Thepowerunitsmustbedriedaftereachuseinwetness.
