WARNING- When using the warmingdrawer follow basic precautions,including the following:

Read all instructions before instal-lation or use of the warming drawerto prevent injury and machinedamage.

This appliance is only intended forthe domestic use of holding cookedfood at serving temperature. Anyother use is at the operator’s ownrisk and could be dangerous.

This appliance conforms to alluniform safety codes and regu-lations. The manufacturer can not beheld responsible for damage orinjury caused by improper use ofthis appliance.

Keep these operating instructions ina safe place and pass them on toany future user.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!

Technical safety

Before installation make sure thatthe voltage and frequency listed on

the data plate correspond with thehousehold electrical supply. This datamust correspond to prevent injury andmachine damage. Consult a qualifiedelectrician if in doubt.

Be certain your appliance isproperly installed and grounded by

a qualified technician.

To guarantee the electrical safetyof this appliance, continuity must

exist between the appliance and aneffective grounding system. It isimperative that this basic safetyrequirement be met. If there is anydoubt, have the electrical system of thehouse checked by a qualifiedelectrician.The manufacturer cannot be heldresponsible for damages caused by thelack, or inadequacy of, an effectivegrounding system.

Installation, repair and mainten-ance work should be by a Miele

authorized service technician. Work byunqualified persons could bedangerous and may void the warranty.

Before installation or service,disconnect the power supply to the

work area by removing the fuse,"tripping" the circuit breaker, orunplugging the unit.

This appliance must only be usedafter it has been installed in cabin-

etry to ensure all electrical componentsare shielded.

Never open the outer casing of theappliance.

Tampering with electrical connectionsor components and mechanical parts isdangerous and can cause machinedamage.

Do not operate any appliance witha damaged cord or plug or after

the appliance malfunctions or has beendamaged in any manner. Return theappliance to the nearest authorizedservice facility for service.

Do not connect the appliance tothe electricity supply by an

extension cord. Extension cords do notguarantee the required safety of theappliance, e.g danger of overheating.

This equipment has not beendesigned for maritime use or for

use in mobile installations such asaircraft or recreational vehicles.However, under certain circumstancesit may be possible for an installation inthese applications. Please contact thenearest Miele Dealer or TechnicalService with specific requirements.

Use

Prevent burns. Do not touch hotsurfaces. Use handles or knobs.

Use heat-resistant oven mitts whenremoving dishes.

Use only dry, heat resistant potholders. Moist or damp pot holders

used on hot surfaces may result insteam burns. Do not substitute towelsor other bulky items for pot holders.

Do not touch the top mountedheating element or other interior

surfaces of the warming drawer.Heating elements may be hot eventhough they are not glowing. Duringand after use, do not let clothing orother flammable materials come incontact with the top mounted heatingelement or interior surfaces of thedrawer until they have had sufficienttime to cool.

Keep children away from the ap-pliance and its controls. Supervise

its use by the elderly or infirm. Theappliance can get very hot during use.Danger of burns!

Do not store anything in thewarming drawer. Forgotten items

could melt or catch fire when theappliance is turned on. Flammableliquids and materials should never bestored in or above the warming drawer.

Fire hazard - food, bread andherbs warmed for a long period will

dry out and could ignite.Make sure food is not forgotten in thewarming drawer.

It is possible that some bacterialgrowth may occur in foods

maintained for lengthy periods of timeat low temperature levels.

Before serving, be sure food is at asafe temperature.

This is particularly important whenpreparing food for babies and children.

Never warm undiluted alcohol inthe warming drawer as this can

easily ignite.

Exercise caution when warmingfood with a high sugar content. If

heated for too long the sugar maycaramelize or ignite.

Only use heat resistantdishes.

Do not place food in unopenedcontainers in the warming drawer.

Pressure may build up and cause themto explode.

Do not use plastic containers orplastic wrap in the warming

drawer. Items may melt and causedamage to the warming drawer orinjury.

Close the drawer after removingfood. An opened drawer can be a

trip or burn hazard.

Always open the drawer carefully.Allow hot air or steam to escape

before placing or removing food.

Do not lean or sit on the drawer.This will damage the drawer which

can only hold a maximum of 33 lbs(15 kg).

Use a food thermometer to checkthe temperature of food.

Only use the warming drawer withthe non-slip mat in place to prevent

injuries and machine damage.

To prevent injuries, do not useaccessories not recommended by

Miele.

Before cleaning the appliance, tripthe circuit breaker and allow the

appliance to cool.

Do not use a steam cleaner toclean the drawer. Steam could

penetrate electrical components andcause a short circuit.

General notes

Children should not be left alone orunattended in an area where an

appliance is in use. They should neverbe allowed to sit or stand on any part ofthe appliance.Caution: Do not store items of interestto children in cabinets above or in thewarming drawer. Children climbing onthe appliance to reach these itemscould be seriously injured.

Wear proper clothing. Loose-fittingor hanging garments should never

be worn while using the warmingdrawer.

Do not leave the warming drawerunattended while in use.

Do not use water on grease fires!A violent steam explosion may

result. Smother the fire with a drychemical or foam fire extinguisher.

Never add water to food in a hotdrawer. The steam created could

cause serious burns or scalds.

Do not use the warming drawer toheat the room. Due to the high

temperatures radiated, objects left nearthe appliance could catch fire.

When using kitchen appliancesnear the warming drawer, make

certain that the power cords do notcome in contact with or get caught inthe drawer.

In areas subject to infestation bycockroaches or other vermin, keep

the appliance and its surroundingsclean at all times. Any damage causedby pests will not be covered by theappliance warranty.

Do not use outdoors.

Disposal of an old appliance

Before discarding an oldappliance, disconnect the power

cord and remove any doors to preventhazards.

The warming drawer is operated by thetimer, the temperature selector and thehumidity control.

The controls are only visible when thedrawer is open.

Once the warming drawer begins toheat the circulation fan will turn on toevenly heat the drawer. When theselected temperature is reached, theheat and the fan will shut off to preventfood from drying out.

If the temperature drops below theselected temperature, the heat will turnback on.

TimerThe timer activates the heatingelements and circulation fan. To warmfood the timer must be turned to anappropriate time setting. A time settingof 1 - 4 hours or "Continuous" can beselected.

– To set a limited time:Turn the timer clockwise from "0" tothe desired time (up to 4 hours.)

– To set an unlimited time:Turn the timer counterclockwise from"0" to "Continuous". The knob cannot be turned past "4 h" to"Continuous".

– The warming drawer is turned off atthe "0" setting.

– The "Continuous" setting will warmthe drawer until the knob is turned to"0".

Please note, the "Continuous" settingrequires close supervision to preventfires. Forgotten food will dry out andcould ignite.

Temperature selectorThe temperature can be set on orbetween the "Low", "Medium" and "High"settings.

The temperature settings:

– Low: 140 °F (60 °C)

– Medium: 176 °F (80 °C)

– High: 203 °F (95 °C)

Humidity controlThe humidity control adjusts thehumidity within the drawer. The humiditycontrol can be set anywhere between"Moist" and "Dry".

Use oven mitts when adjusting thehumidity control. The control maybecome hot during use.

– : This position closes the ventsand seals the moisture in the drawerto keep food moist and soft.Condensation may occur around theinside edge of the drawer.

– : This position opens the ventsfor maximum airflow to keep foodcrisp."Dry" is ideal for keeping both dryand liquid foods warm, e.g. soupand bread. Cover liquids with a plateor foil to prevent evaporation.In this setting moisture may collecton surfaces above the warmingdrawer.

– : This position is between"Moist" and "Dry" and partially opensthe vents to keep food warm andslightly moist, e.g. pizza.

The drawer load will depend on thetype and size of your dishes.

The maximum load is 33 lbs (15 kg).Do not rest heavy items on thedrawer.

Use the supplied rack to increase theload space.

The rack can be inserted in threepositions: middle, left or right.

^ Insert the rack into the slots of therear wall in the drawer and then slidethe front of the rack into position.

Additional racks are available forpurchase from the Technical ServiceDepartment.

Tips– To keep different foods hot, set the

temperature for the food requiringthe highest temperature setting.Place the food needing the highestsetting on the rack and the otherfood on the floor of the drawer.

– For large quantities of food, it may benecessary to use a higher temp-erature and humidity level.

– When warming food and dishes atthe same time, place the dishes onthe floor of the drawer and the foodon the rack.

– Food in heat resistant glass andceramic containers may requirehigher temperatures than food inmetal dishes.

– Allow extra time for the temperatureto adjust after adding or checking onfood or dishes.

– Do not block the vents on the insideof the drawer. This will prevent foodand dishes from warming evenly.

Please note: Be careful not to placefood too close to the upper heatingelement. Increased temperature andproximity may cause a fire!

Keeping food warmFor best results, preheat the warmingdrawer before warming food.

^ Open the drawer.

^ Turn the timer to the desired timesetting.

^ Turn the temperature selector to thedesired temperature setting.

^ Slide the humidity control to thedesired humidity level. Use the"Moist" setting when preheating.

^ Close the drawer.

Preheating times:

– "Low": 6 minutes

– "Medium": 10 minutes

– "High": 14 minutes

^ Once the preheating time haselapsed, place the hot food in thewarming drawer.

Never place food directly on thenon-slip mat or the racks. Alwayswarm food on a dish.

Do not add water to food or place acontainer with water in the warmingdrawer. Additional water will makefood soggy and may cause machinedamage.

Take care when opening and closingthe loaded drawer to prevent spills.

^ If necessary adjust the settings.

^ Close the drawer.

Keep the drawer closed while in use toprevent food from drying out. Remem-ber, food may continue to cook whilebeing warmed in the drawer.

^ The warming drawer can be turnedoff at any time by turning the timer tothe "0" setting.

When warming is complete keep thedrawer open for a few minutes toallow the humidity to evaporate.

Prewarming the dishesThe warming drawer can also be usedto warm dishes. Do not preheat thedrawer before warming dishes.

Only use heat resistant dishes.

^ Open the drawer.

^ Place the dishes in the drawer.

Arrange dishes evenly in the drawerand on the rack. Limit stacks to 2 platesfor better warming.

^ Turn the timer to 30 minutes (halfwayto "1 h").

^ Turn the temperature selector to:

"Low" if dishes are on the rack or arelight weight.

"High" if dishes are on the floor of thedrawer or are heavy or thick.

^ Slide the humidity control to "Moist".

^ Close the drawer.

^ After 30 minutes the drawer will shutoff.

Caution! The dishes may be very hot!

^ Carefully remove dishes using ovenmitts.

Food and dishes can also be warmedsimultaneously.

Keep in mind that the temperaturesetting to keep food warm may behigher than the temperature required towarm dishes.

When warming food and dishes at thesame time, place the dishes on the floorof the drawer and the food on the rack.

Appliance front and controlpanel^ All external surfaces and controls can

be cleaned with warm water andliquid dish soap applied with asponge.

^ Wipe dry using a soft cloth.

GlassGlass surfaces can be cleaned with aglass cleaner.

Stainless steelStainless steel surfaces can be cleanedusing a non-abrasive stainless steelcleaner.

Avoid the following on all surfaces:

- abrasive cleaning agents,e.g. powder or cream cleansers,

- abrasive sponges,e.g. pot scourers or sponges thatwere used with abrasive cleaningagents,

- oven sprays.

DrawerThe drawer can be removed for easiercleaning.

Removing the drawer

^ Pull the drawer completely out andloosen the nuts.

Be careful when removing the heavydrawer.

^ Remove the non-slip mat.

^ Clean all surfaces of the drawer andthe non-slip mat with a solution ofwarm water and liquid dish soap.

^ Wipe dry with a soft cloth.

^ Replace the drawer in reverse order.

Non-slip matClean the non-slip mat by hand withwarm water and liquid dish soap.

Only put the non-slip mat back in thedrawer when it is completely dry.

The non-slip mat is not suitable forcleaning in a washer or dishwasher.

Rack^ Clean the rack with warm water and

liquid dish soap or a non-abrasivestainless steel cleaner.

,Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified and trained person inaccordance with local and national safety regulations. Unauthorized repairscould cause an injury or machine damage. Some minor problems can be fixedwithout a service call.

What if the drawer does not heat?

Possible fault Fix

There is no power to the warmingdrawer.

Insert the plug into the outlet.

The circuit breaker has tripped. Reset the circuit breaker.

The timer is set to "0" or a temperaturewas not selected.

Turn the timer to a time and/ortemperature setting.

What if the food is not warm enough?

Possible fault Fix

Adjust the temperature setting. Check that the vents have not been blocked bylarge plates or dishes.

What if the food or dishes are too hot?

Check the the temperature setting and make sure the food is not too close to theheating element.

What if the food is extremely dry or moist?

Adjust the humidity control setting.

What if the dishes are not warm enough?

Possible fault Fix

The wrong temperature was selected. Check the temperature setting.

The vents were blocked by dishes. Reload the dishes.

The dishes need more time to warm. Increase the timer setting.

Why is a noise is heard during use?

This is not a fault. This is the circulation fan which distributes the heated air. Thefan should shut off automatically after 30 minutes of turning the drawer on.

Disposal of the packingmaterialsThe cardboard box and packingmaterials protect the appliance duringshipping. They have been designed tobe biodegradable and recyclable.

Ensure that any plastic wrappings,bags, etc. are disposed of safely andkept out of the reach of children.Danger of suffocation!

Disposal of an old applianceOld appliances may contain materialsthat can be recycled. Please contactyour local recycling authority about thepossibilty of recycling these materials.

Ensure that the appliance presents nodanger to children while being storedfor disposal. Before discarding an oldappliance, unplug it from the outlet andcut off its power cord. Remove anydoors to prevent trapping hazards.

Only operate the warming drawerafter it has been installed into thecountertop.

Power supply

This appliance is equipped with a 5 ft(1.5 m) long power cord with athree-prong grounding plug ready forconnection to a 120 V, 15 A, 60 Hzpower supply.

Further installation details are on thewiring diagram.

Electrical connection

Installation tips– The warming drawer should be

placed at a convenient height foreasy access.

– The drawer should be installed clearof drafts caused by open doors andwindows.

– Proper clearance must be allowedfor the warming drawer to open without interference.

– The warming drawer must besecured to cabinetry to prevent thedrawer from tipping when loaded.

– The warming drawer should be levelto prevent the drawer sliding open orclosed on its own.The drawer can not be leveled after ithas been installed.If necessary install a shelf within thecabinetry to support the drawer.

Steam from the vents can damagethe cabinetry to the warming drawer.

A minimum 2" (5 cm) gap must beallowed between the upper edge ofthe warming drawer and thecabinetry.This gap can be left open or filledwith a moisture restistance sealingstrip.

Installing the warming drawer^ Remove the drawer from the casing

before installing the appliance in thecabinetry.

Removing the drawer

^ Pull the drawer completely out andloosen the nuts.

^ Carefully lift the drawer and pull itslowly out.Set the drawer down on a flat, stablesurface.

^ Push the casing in the cabinetry.

^ Secure the casing in the cabinetrywith the six screws.

Inserting the drawer

^ Pull out the telescopic skies from thecasing.

^ Set the drawer on the telescopicskies.Secure the drawer with the two nuts.

Integrated installationsModels 700-25 FB / 760-25 FBCustom made front panels can beinstalled with models 700-25 FB and760-25 FB.

Panel dimensions

The custom panel must be atleast 3/8"(10 mm) thick and made of heat resist-ant material140 °F (60 °C).

a Install a handle to the custom frontpanel using counter sunk screws.

b Remove the drawer from the casing.See "Removing the drawer".

The panel attached to the warmingdrawer front can be used as the drillingtemplate for the custom panel.

c Loosen the two screws on the innerside of the drawer and remove thepanel from the appliance front.

d Place the panel on a firm surfacewith the adhesive tape facing up.Peel the backing from the adhesivetape.

e Position the custom panel over theremoved panel using the tape to holdit in place.

f Press the custom panel tight on tothe removed panel.

g Screw the removed panel to thecustom panel with the eight screws.

h Hook the panels into the bottom onand secure at the top with twoscrews making sure the seal isseated correctly.
