SentryGOLD Compact Dispenser The SentryGOLD Compact Dispenser is installed directly into the face of a Bennett electronic fuel dispenser. It does not require a Mother Board or Plug-In Cards.

There is currently no optional hardware available for the SentryGOLD Compact

Dispenser model.

The SentryGOLD can be uninstalled by removing the 16 screws holding the Sen-

tryGOLD to the black bracket. An alternative method, you can remove both the

SentryGOLD head and bracket by removing the 18 screws holding the bracket to

the dispenser panel.

When removing the SentryGOL,D remember to support it. The

dispenser panel flips down. Therefore, if you remove the 16 screws holding the SentryGOLD to the black bracket,

gravity will prevail., and the SentryGOLD will fall.

SentryGOLD Compact Dispenser

SentryGOLD Compact

Mother Board

The mother board is only installed with the SentryGOLD Compact; it is not re- quired

with the SentryGOLD Compact Dispenser model.

Accessing the Mother Board The mother board is located directly behind the SentryGOLD head inside of the housing. To access the mother board:

1. Turn off the power source.

2. Push the SentryGOLD head upwards, towards the top of the housing.

3. Pull the SentryGOLD head towards you slowly. The wiring harnesses are

short, so you will need to disconnect them from the back of the Sentry-

GOLD head if you want to remove it completely.

4. Once the SentryGOLD head has been removed, place it in a safe place.

5. You now have access to the mother board.

Lock

CAUTION High Voltage—Possibility of Electric Shock.

Make sure the power is off before accessing the mother board.

Manual Override Switches The manual override switches are located on the upper right side of the mother board box. They are labeled by the Trak Technician during installation. Due to the confined space the labels may not be easily viewed. Unless authorized by Trak, you should not remove the mother board cover.

Plug-In Cards The Plug-In Cards, which are required for SentryGOLD operation, are located inside of the mother board.

There are both high and low voltage slots, as well as a power supply.

Low

Hig

Cards are placed into the appropriate slots in the mother board and

configured at the factory, based on site specifications.

The mother board box houses all of the Plug-In Cards.

Operator Mode

The Welcome Screen is the first screen you see when the SentryGOLD Fuel Management System is powered up. This screen is

designed to be unique to every customer, but the functionality of the operating procedures remains the same for all Sentries.

Please note that using sharp objects on your touch screen will scratch it and affect its accuracy. A stylus or your finger should

be used at all times to eliminate damage to the touch screen. Please

contact our main office for information or purchase of a stylus. We provide

a stylus on a wire lanyard that can be attached to your housing or dispenser.

Accessing the Operator Mode From the Welcome Screen, quickly touch first the top right, then bottom right corners of the touch screen. Touches must be done in this order, with no more than two (2) seconds between each touch/tap, to enter the Operator Mode. This is much easier if you use the stylus, as it is more precise.

If you do not advance to the Login Screen and find yourself on the

Odometer screen, simply select Backspace. The system will return you to

the Wel- come Screen, from which you can try again. All Operator Mode

screens are displayed in green; all transaction screens are displayed in red.

Once you have successfully tapped both corners, the SentryGOLD

will proceed to the Login Screen, where you will be required to enter

your Access Code.

Login Access Code

Access to the Operator Section requires a security code. This code should be kept in a safe place and released only to au-

thorized Central Control personnel. There are many options availa-

ble to anyone accessing the Operator Section that can, if incorrectly

updated, cause permanent damage to the functionality of the Sentry.

Login To access the Operator Section you must enter your login code, then select the Next button. Should you choose to return to the Welcome screen, simply input an invalid access code, and select the Next button. The SentryGOLD will immediately redirect you to the Welcome Screen.

Once you successfully Login, the Main Menu screen will load.

Again, please remember that all Operator Section screens are

indicated with green screens. If the screen is not green, you are

not in the Operator Section.

Access Code The default code which is programmed into the SentryGOLD at the factory is 2901.

Access Code Change An access code must be four (4) digits and can be changed by the Central Control Operator at the Main Polling Computer (WinCC) or from the

Sentry- GOLD Settings screen. If your access code is changed, please

forward this information to Trak, as it will be required for service calls or

rework if the SentryGOLD is returned to the factory for any reason.

Operator Section Screens are indicated by Green Screens. Red

Screens indicate User Screens.

Main Menu

Once you have successfully entered the login code and selected Next,

you will proceed to the Main Menu Screen. From this screen, you

are provided a number of options.

Changes made in the Operator Section affect how the

SentryGOLD operates.

The current version of SG5 installed on the SentryGOLD is indicated

at the bottom left of this screen. This can be helpful when contacting

Trak for technical customer support. It also provides the date and

time the version was released for production.

Trak Options This menu provides access to Windows Explorer, which allows the

operator to manipulate the operating software. These files should

only be accessed by TRAK’s IT Department.

Manipulation of the operating system files can result in

complete SentryGOLD shutdown.

This menu also provides access to the information gathered in the database; the information is provided in a text log format.

Finally, it gives you the ability to test some items such as the

printer, speaker, communications and screen calibration.

Each of the actions available from this screen is listed below:

View Transactions Provides a log of all recent transactions stored in the SentryGOLD database.

The information provided includes the date & time of the

transaction, pump (hose) number, product dispensed, quantity in

gallons, vehicle number and if applicable, the personnel, vehicle

key (V-key) or per- sonnel key (P-key) used to initiate the

transaction.

The personnel, V-keys or P-keys are set by the factory according to

the security access specified by the Customer.

Delete Transactions Deleting transactions from the SentryGOLD database will not affect any transactions previously polled, as they will remain in the WinCC

transaction database.

You will be provided only one warning when deleting transactions. Make sure this is what you want to do!

Page 9: Operator Manual - Trak Engineering, Inc.trakeng.com/manuals/-SG_Operator_Manual 9-2015.pdf · SentryGOLD Operator Manual-Rev.05 112514 5 1 Watt Setup SentryGOLD Models Trak SentryGOLD

Once a transaction has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. Beware when selecting this feature, as you will be deleting all transactions. There is no option to delete only one (1) or a specific transaction.

Export Transactions Allows you to export transactions off of the Sentry.

View TLD Entries Allows you to view all Tank Level Detector (TLD) entries.

Allows you to view recent TLD transactions. It provides the date,

time and data for each transaction.

No changes can be made from this screen; it is for information pur- poses only.

Delete TLD Entries Allows you to delete Tank Level Detector transactions.

Once a transaction has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. Beware

when selecting this feature as you will be deleting all transactions.

There is no option to delete only one (1) or a specific transaction.

Open Explorer Allows you to access Windows Explorer.

This should only be done by authorized Operation Controllers.

Before accessing Explorer, the system should be set to

Autorun Off. If power is lost to the SentryGOLD when files

are in the process of revision / updating, the system will lose its

SG4 program.

On boot-up, you will receive a blank black screen if you lose

the programming; If this occurs, you will need to return the

Sentry- GOLD back to the factory for complete

reprogramming of the oper- ating software.

Test Volume Allows you to test and set the speaker volume.

Simply slide the volume scale left for higher volume or right for

low- er volume. Sliding the scale all the way to the right will

disable the volume.

Select the Test Volume button once you have selected the desired

vol- ume level. A “ding” sound will emit at the sound level you

selected. Selecting Close from this screen will save the setting and

return you to the previous screen, Trak Options.

View Pump Assignments Pump assignments can be viewed and deleted, but they cannot be edited.

Page 11: Operator Manual - Trak Engineering, Inc.trakeng.com/manuals/-SG_Operator_Manual 9-2015.pdf · SentryGOLD Operator Manual-Rev.05 112514 5 1 Watt Setup SentryGOLD Models Trak SentryGOLD

Calibrate Touch Screen If for any reason your touch screen loses its calibration, this screen will provide you with the necessary procedures for recalibration. If, after performing this task, you still encounter calibration issues, please contact Trak.

Touch screen calibration should be completed at least twice,

consecutively. It should also be performed with a stylus; please

do not use a sharp object. The touch screen is very precise, and

the area of screen selected by your finger will affect the

calibration.

Follow the on screen directions to complete the calibration.

Once done, touch anywhere on the touch screen to exit and return

to the TRAK Options screen.

It is important to sit directly in front of the SentryGOLD when performing a calibration. Do NOT sit to one side or the other,

as it may look like you are selecting the center of the crosshair when you are not.

Make sure that your free hand or fingers are not resting on the touch screen during calibration.

Comm Test Tests the Sentry’s communication status. The SentryGOLD sends a test text message to the Data Converter.

The Data Converter should establish communication with the

Sentry, convert the data received and return the same text back to

the Sentry. The Data Sent should be identical to the Data Received.

Always choose AUX as the Selected Port, as this is the port used

for communication at the Data Converter.

Select the appropriate baud rate for your system.

Select the Begin Test button. Select Exit to return to the previous screen, Trak Options.

Printer Test This option is only applicable if you have a receipt printer installed on your Sentry. It will print a test page.

Page 12: Operator Manual - Trak Engineering, Inc.trakeng.com/manuals/-SG_Operator_Manual 9-2015.pdf · SentryGOLD Operator Manual-Rev.05 112514 5 1 Watt Setup SentryGOLD Models Trak SentryGOLD

Autorun On Autorun On will ensure that the SentryGOLD reboots itself after power loss.

Autorun should be set to Off anytime changes to the Setup or SG4

files are made. This will prevent errors if power is lost during file

updates.

Contact Trak before making any attempts to access the files in the

NANDFlash file folder in Windows Explorer. Changes to these

files may corrupt and permanently disable your Sentry.

“Yes” should be selected anytime you turn Autorun on or off.

If your SentryGOLD won’t power up to the Welcome Screen, and it is stuck on one of the screens

shown below, call Trak. Your software has been corrupted, and the SentryGOLD needs to be

returned to the factory for reprogramming.

The 4-Color Screen is normal during boot up.

Only when the SentryGOLD remains on this

screen and does not complete powering up, does

it become an issue. Usually this is caused by a

loss of program or program corruption on the

SBC.

The Black Screen occurs during boot up. Only when the

SentryGOLD remains on this screen and does not complete

powering up, does it become an issue. Usually this is

caused by a loss of program or program corruption on the

MCB.

Setup Pumps This screen allows the operator to edit not only the Products, but also the Tanks and Hoses.

Select the item you want to edit: Product, Tank or Hose. Once you

have highlighted the item, select either Add, Edit or Delete, depend-

ing on what you need. Make changes as necessary. For example:

Step 1—Select the “Edit Products” Label. Step 2—Highlight the line item you want to change. Step 3—A bar will appear at the bottom of the screen. Step 4—The Product number cannot be changed, but you can

update the product name. Input your new product name, and select the change button.

Each Product, Tank or Hose can be changed using the same steps

as listed above. Step 4’s input data will change, dependent upon

which item you have selected to update.

Select Save to save all of your changes and exit this screen, or select Cancel or Close to exit without saving.

Test Pumps When selected, the Test Pumps screen displays the quantity of fuel that has been dispensed, according to the Trak Fuel Management

System.

Test Pumps allows the pumps (dispensers) to be tested while

observing the pulse count. The pulse count is the raw pulse; it is

not adjusted or calibrated to 10 pulses per gallon.

When the pump number is selected, the SentryGOLD will automatically turn that pump on and display the pulse count.

At this screen, you are in the Operator Mode. Pump selections are

1 through 12. Do not select a pump that is not set up on your

Sentry. By selecting a pump that is not set up, you force the SentryGOLD to attempt to access a pump that does not exist.

This action will cause the system to freeze and reset itself.

If you’re not sure how many hoses are set up on your SentryGOLD, select the Setup Pumps Button from the

Main Menu screen, and review the hoses. This will help to prevent a reset.

Read Card Select read card.

The text “Click the appropriate button” will change to “Present your card.”

Scan your card in the card reader or prox card

reader, whichever is applicable.

The card reader will read the card. The Sentry-

GOLD will then provide you with the

information downloaded from the card.

The text will change back to “Click the

appropriate button,” and the card data will

appear below the Read Card and Read Key

buttons.

Read Key The same methods are used for reading the information off of a key.

Sentry Settings

Sentry #

This is the number assigned to your SentryGOLD and should be unique to each SentryGOLD in your organization. This

number can be changed, but it must be three (3) digits between the numbers 001 and 999. Do not use 000, as this is re- served

for testing purposes.

To change the SentryGOLD number, select the Changes button.

When a text box appears, input the new SentryGOLD number

and select Save.

Any of the items with a Change button provided to the right of the text box can be updated using the same process.

Remember that this number must be unique. If you duplicate a

SentryGOLD number, you will incur problems when polling.

As the SentryGOLD number is listed in your transactions, you

will be unable to determine which of the Sentries the transaction

actually came from.

Device Address

Indicates the Communication Port (Comm Port) you are using on

your PC. The factory default is 1.

Pump Time On

The amount of time that the user has to remove the nozzle and begin pumping gas once the pump has been activated during a standard fuel transaction. The factory default is 30 seconds, but may be changed at the Fleet Manager’s discretion.

Mileage Retries

By factory default, the fueler is able to enter his mileage incorrectly in the Odometer Screen up to three (3) times, after which

the SentryGOLD will allow fueling. However, the Fleet Manager may control the number of incorrect entries by changing

the “Mileage Retries” to a number from 1 to 99. Any incorrect entry, up to the number allowed, will return to the

fueler to the mileage entry screen.

Automation

Dependent on the type of SentryGOLD purchased by your organization, the factory setting for this item is in accordance with

your purchase contract. It should not be changed unless prompted by Trak Engineering, Inc. The options provided are:

Manual, Partially Automated and Fully Automated.

System Number

This number is your Customer Number provided by Trak. It is automatically assigned by our customer database. Your system

number should be changed only to correct an error made during factory setup.

Baud

This is selectable from 1200 baud through 115,200 baud. Your baud rate is determined by site communication hardware and

telephone or IP sustainable baud rates. This selection utilizes a drop down menu.

Time Off

This is the amount of time the customer has to release the pump handle during a fueling transaction and then re -squeeze,

before the pump shuts off, ending the transaction. The factory setting is 30 seconds.

Access #

The Access Code is also referred to as the Account Number and is used as a security code for logging into the Operator

Mode. It can be changed, but must be a 4-digit number. The factory setting is 2901.

Modify Card Parsing Details

These settings are set up in the factory, according to the card type purchased with the Sentry. It should not be changed.

Changes to these settings will result in Card Read failure.

Manual Override

The Manual Override screen allows you to override the system

for each individual hose. This also can be done via the hardware. Refer to the Mother Board Manual Override Switch.

To the right of each hose on the screen is a button. Select a but-

ton to turn each of the hoses ON or OFF as required. A button

labeled “N/A” simply indicates that this SentryGOLD does not

support that hose.

NOTE: While a hose is in the Manual Override Mode, the

Sentry- GOLD will be able to only capture the date, time, fuel

type and quantity of the transaction. All other required information, such as VIN, PIN and odometer reading, must be logged

manually into the Central Controller at a later time.

Once you have made your changes, select the Close button. This will save your changes and return you to the previous screen.

Any changes that you made will remain in effect until you re-enter this screen and change them

again. No further caution or warning is provided to remind you of the changes made.
