Spanish evolution in the international students

Spain is one of the main attractive destinations to study abroad for tertiary students (OECD):

• 2011: 107.405 international students enrolled in tertiary education in Spain.

• Spain is mainly a net exporter of educational services.

• As 33.522 Spanish students go to study in another countries, so we receive 3,2 foreign students for each Spanish student going abroad.

• Spain is the 9th country in the world,

in terms of share of foreign tertiary students by country of destination, with a 2,5% market share. In terms of non-English speaking countries, Spain is number 5 destination.

• Spain has evolved from a 1,23% in 2000 of market share of foreign tertiary students by country of destination, to a 2,50% in 2011, which is a 103% growth (double).

• This growth rate is the highest among the 12 main players, in a context where the US, Germany and France growth is slowing down, while positive growth of UK and AUS.

TO STUDY “ADVANCED RESEARCH

PROGRAMMES” IN SPAIN HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST ELECTION RATES IN THE OECD FOR

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

• A 18,2% of the international tertiary

students in the Spanish universities choose an “Advanced research programme” (higher than the 11,5% OECD average and similar to the 19,4% of the US).

• Most of the international students came to Spain to study “Health” and “Social Science” related studies (37%). And a 16,5% came to study “Engineering” or “Science” related studies.

• Spain has 27 Universities in the world top 100 in one of the 4 main international rankings (QS, Shanghai, Taiwan, THE) at least in one area (7) or discipline (20).

COLLABORATION SPAIN-ISRAEL

MEMORANDUM OF EMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, CULTURE AND SPORT OF THE KINFDOM OF SPAIN

AND THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL

• Memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Kingdom of Spain and the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel—> since1987 2014.

• Purpose: to establish the institutional framework for the signatories to undertake cooperation, training and advisory activities, and academic, scientific, technological and innovation-related exchanges.

To achieve this purpose the signatories may establish cooperation agreements in the following forms: 1. Academic mobility of Spanish and Israeli undergraduate and

graduate students and professors, technical, administrative and service staff under specific programs.

2. Internships for senior management and technical high education staff working with international programs and projects in the fields of education, research and innovation.

3. Exchange of information, publications, videos, bibliography and learning materials.

4. Educational training for senior management staff. 5. Development of workshops, conferences and seminars on

cooperation, advising and training. 6. Development and implementation of undergraduate, master and

doctorate international joint programs, granting joint certificates. 7. Any other for agreed between signatories.
