On 16-JAN-2008 Oracle acquired Captovation, a leading provider of document capture solutions.Document Capture is the process of importing documents and information through capture devices in an EDMS.Document capture may be performed using a variety of technologies, including document scanners, digital copiers, fax machines, cameras and electronic forms.
History and Definition 2/2
Oracle offers two solutions, Oracle Document Capture and Oracle Distributed Document Capture, that streamline the capture process of paper and electronic documents. Oracle Document Capture supports high volume production scanning from a central location while Oracle Distributed Document Capture provides a user-friendly web interface that allows distributed enterprises to easily capture images from remote locations.
Configurations – Batch Setup 1/4
The first time you run Oracle DC after installation you have to set Capture Batch Setup
You can also access it form System > Batch Setup menu
Set the paths of batch and commit folders

To set the Capture Database as an Oracle Database choose “Other Database Platform” then Configure
Then click on Configure DB Connection

Choose Oracle Provider for OLE DB then Next
Enter the DB name on the Data Source field
Enter the username and password then test the connection.
Press OK

Click on Initialize DB
Enter admin username and password then Ok
Choose Capture_ORACLE.sql
located under the DC folder

Form Admin > File Cabinets menu
Click on new Cabinet “a sun icon”
Enter the File Cabinet Name and then Ok

Add fields for the new File CabinetClick add on the File Cabinet WindowEnter the Field name, type and click OkRepeat to create more fields

Right click on Commit Profiles, New Commit Profile then Enter Commit Name
Choose Oracle UCM Commit Driver to let DC to commit the outputs to UCM then Configure

Enter username, password and Cgi URL of the UCM Server, then login
On Check-In tab type the required Document Title, choose the other default values

On Field Mapping tab, map between CS and Capture Fields

Form Indexing > Manage Index Profiles
Click on New to add new Index Profile
Type the name, choose file cabinet

On Fields tab choose all required batch fields
Click Save

Choose the Index Profile and click open
Choose an image which will act as a sample image

From Scanning > Manage Scan ProfilesChoose to create new scan profileEnter the Profile Name, Batch Prefix and choose the File Cabinet then save

On Image Source choose from scanner or from disk
On Noise Removal node choose to remove noise (if required)

Test the configuration 1/3
To test your work
From Scanning > Batch Scanning
Choose Batch Profile then Scan
Choose the image

Form Indexing > Batch Indexing
Choose the Batch and click select
Enter the index value or it can be automatically retrieved or select the required area using the right click

Click commit to save to UCM
