GRANDPARENTS’ DAY
Thank you to all the lovely family and friends who came to our school to help us celebrate Grandparents’ Day. A special thank you to all the Grandparents who do so much for our lovely students and to Mrs MacLean for coordinating this special event.
PARENT/HELPER MORNING TEA
At Orange East we are very fortunate to have the help of many, many volunteers throughout the year. These roles range from P&C, Scripture, classroom assistance, travel, gardens, canteen, office, special events planning, working bees, construction – and the list goes on. Without this support, simply the school would not be as good or function the way that it does. In recognition of these valuable people we are holding our annual Parent/ Helper Morning Tea on Thursday, 28th November at 11am in the School Hall. I extend a very warm invite to any person who has assisted our school big or small over 2019.
FINAL INFANTS & PRIMARY ASSEMBLY REMINDERS
An important reminder that the final regular Friday Assembly dates are as follows:
Primary (3-6) Assembly will be this Friday, 22nd November starting at 2:15pm. (Junior and Senior Choir Performance)
Infants (K-2) Assembly will be next Friday, 29th November starting at 2:15pm. (Class 1 Panda performing)
As such, these assemblies will be the final opportunities this year to get stickers on Achievement Awards for these students. PLEASE NOTE: The only other Achievement Awards I will process this year will be for Year 6 students or any other students leaving the school at the end of the year who have reached another sticker (lot of 10 blue Merits). In the case of these students, I will present the certificate on the next available morning assembly.
ICAS COMPETITION CERTIFICATE PRESENTATIONS
Please note, over the final two Friday Assemblies the ICAS (UNSW academic competitions) certificates will be presented to students who took part in the various competitions this year. Students who achieved a merit, credit, distinction or high distinction will be presented a copy of the certificate with the actual certificates to be presented at our Presentation Day in a few weeks. Students in Year 3-6 will be presented with their certificate/copy this Friday with any K-2 students at next Friday’s Infants Assembly.

KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION
Today (Tuesday, 19th November) marked the final session in our 2020 Kindergarten Transition program. It has been great to welcome the next class of Orange East students into the school over the past month and see them grow in confidence and understanding in preparation for ’big school’ next year. Many thanks to parents and carers who ensured transition students were able to attend and in particular to Mrs Kable, Mrs MacLean and Mrs Bourke for coordinating this program.
REPORTS
Teaching staff have been very busy gathering information about student learning achievements and summarising assessment data from students’ work throughout Terms 3 and 4 as part of the process of writing the Semester 2 reports. Teachers constantly have professional dialogue about student learning and use assessment information to make decisions about student learning achievements against syllabus outcomes. The reports are due to go home in Week 9.
2020 SCHOOL PLANNING
We ask parents/carers to inform the school as soon as possible if you know that you will be moving away from the area and hence your children will not be attending Orange East PS in 2020.
CRAZY HAIR
A reminder that this Thursday all students are invited to bring a gold coin and come to school with their craziest hair to support our final SRC fundraiser. The students have decided to put funds raised towards the WIRES service to assist native animals that have been injured and displaced during the recent bushfires across the state. Please note: it is a regular school uniform day.
