Orbea bicycles are made in the heart o the Pyrenees by thepassionate and skilled worker-owners o Orbea. Northern Spainhas a tradition o metal mining and manuacturing, and it was inthis hotbed o manuacturing that the brothers Orbea openedtheir metal tubing business in 1840. They became amous ortheir nely crated guns until they transitioned their expertise tomaking bicycles in the 1930s. At one time the company madeeverything or the bikes save the tires.

Due to market orces the Orbea company was re-organized asa worker-owned cooperative in 1960. In 1964, Orbea joinedthe Mondragon Corporacin Cooperativa (MCC), now one othe worlds largest and most successul cooperatives. MCCwas set up in 1956 by a Basque priest, padre Jos MariaArizmendiarrieta, whose aim was to give the workers the leadingrole in their own destiny in the economic and social managemento the company. That rst company, Ulgor, produced consumergoods such as washing machines and was later renamed Fagor.As a team sponsor, great names such as Ocaa and Roche worethe Fagor team jersey.

By the 1970s Orbea was well on its way to internationalprominence, buying the renowned component maker Zeus.

Orbea sponsored some o the best teams in cycling includingOrbea-MG, Seat-Orbea and Caja Rural. These teams eaturedriders such as Marino Lejarreta, Pedro Delgado and Pello RuizCabestany.

By the 1990s Orbea was invested in creating the best bicyclesin the industry. Orbea is one o only two European companies inthe bike industry to have ISO 9001 certication or the higheststandards o quality. The company pursued the most innovativetechnology in aluminum alloys, metal orming and carbon bercomposites. Today this hard work is seen in bikes like therevolutionary new fagship Orca and the 950-gram Arin, which areridden by the world-class riders o Euskaltel-Euskadi. This driveor artistry, perormance and technology has made Orbea one othe most successul bike makers in the world. And it all started inthe Heart o the Pyrenees.

Introducing Dama 650c OptionsOrbea believes that every rider should have the same inspired experience. The average adult woman is

approximately 54tall. This means that approximately hal o the emale population is less than 54 and that a

signicant number o women need a bike smaller than can be designed with 700c wheels. When addressing the

needs o our customers who are smaller in stature we were unwilling to make compromises in regards to how a

bike should eel. The new 46 cm size with 650c wheels (available on fagship Diva and on Aqua Dama) will allow

a woman o less than ve eet to get the same precise t without sacricing handling or saety. Orbea knows
