Being God’s People in God’s World: Living the Sacrificial Life –

Giving Freely; Serving Fully: Living Faithfully

Lord Jesus, you helped your disciples to see recent events in a new light. You helped them to understand that the crucifixion

courage to those who ae oppressed and the patience to work and wait for the day of deliverance. Amen [From: Contemporary Prayers]

Praise & Worship [led by Adult Choir]

Call to Worship

Hymn of Praise – Praise to the Lord, the Almighty 1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation O my soul praise him, for he is thy health and salvation All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near Praise him in glad adoration. 2. Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth shelters thee under his wings, yea, so gently sustaineth! hast thou not seen? how thy desires e’er have been granted in what He ordaineth? 3. Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper your work and defend thee! Surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee: Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if with his love he befriend thee. 4. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that hath life and breath come now with praises before him! Let the amen sound form his people again: Gladly for ever adore him.

[Neander/Winkworth]

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Confession

Responsive Reading Leader: Brothers and sisters in Christ, what has drawn you to this place? People: We have come to worship the Rock of our salvation. Leader: God is not confined to this place;

God is always with you. God came with you. People: We have come to worship with each other.

Leader: How do you propose to worship so great a God? People: Through praise and prayer, With tears of confession and joy, we will bow at God’s feet. Leader: God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, the earth, the sea and sky. What do you have to offer so great a God? People: We offer our lives and our livelihood to God, To each other, to all who seek. We bring offerings of mercy, justice and peace.

Leader: When you leave this place, God will go with you. ALL: We shall live as we worship, aware of God’s presence.

Songs of Worship A. As the deer panteth for the water 2. You're my Friend and You are my Brother

So my soul longeth after Thee Even though You are a King You alone are my heart's desire I love You more than any other

And I long to worship Thee So much more than anything You alone are my strength, my shield 3. I want You more than gold or silver To You alone may my spirit yield Only You can satisfy You alone are my heart's desire You alone are the real joy giver And I long to worship Thee And the apple of my eye B. Light of the world You stepped down into darkness, Chorus: Opened my eyes, let me see Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down Beauty that made this heart adore you Here I am to say that You're my God Hope of a life spent with you. You're altogether lovely, altogether worthy

Altogether wonderful to me.

Verse 2. King of all days Oh so highly exalted Chorus: Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down

Glorious in heaven above here I am to say that You’re my God,

Humbly You came to the earth You created You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy

All for loves sake became poor. Altogether wonderful to me.

And I'll never know how much it cost

To see my sin upon that cross. {Repeat}

Cho:

C. I am weak but thou art strong 2. When my feeble life is o'er Jesus keep me from all wrong Time for me shall be no more I'll be satisfied as long Guide me gently, safely o'er As I walk, let me walk close to thee To thy kingdom's shore, to thy shore

CHO: Just a closer walk with thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be

Welcome & Announcements Tithes & Offering

Act of Fellowship – [singing – There’s a sweet, sweet, Spirit in this place]

Hymn - More like Jesus would I be

1. More like Jesus would I be, let my Savior dwell with me; Fill my soul with peace and love, make me gentle as a dove; More like Jesus, while I go, pilgrim in this world below; Poor in spirit would I be; let my Savior dwell in me.

2. If He hears the raven's cry, if His ever watchful eye

Marks the sparrows when they fall, surely He will hear my call: He will teach me how to live, all my sinful thoughts forgive; Pure in heart I still would be; let my Savior dwell in me.

3. More like Jesus when I pray, more like Jesus day by day, May I rest me by His side, where the tranquil waters glide. Born of Him through grace renewed, by His love my will subdued, Rich in faith I still would be; let my Savior dwell in me.

[Tune: More like Jesus – 77 77D]

Message - Rev. Dr Burchel K Taylor

Hymn of Response - O Master, let me walk with Thee

1. O Master, let me walk with thee 3. Teach me thy patience; still with thee in lowly paths of service free; in closer, dearer company,

tell me thy secret; help me bear in work that keeps faith sweet and strong

the strain of toil, the fret of care. in trust that triumphs over wrong

2. Help me the slow of heart to move 4. In hope that sends a shining ray

by some clear, winning word of love; far down the future's broadening way

teach me the wayward feet to stay, in peace that only thou canst give

and guide them in the homeward way. with thee, O Master, let me live [Washington Gladden 1879 – LM]
