Parents and grandparents of our little ones, please note: Our young disciples who leave for Childrens Church after the Childrens Message will no longer return to the Sanctuary after the sermon. While we have loved seeing them come back in, the logistics have been a challenge. After the 9:00 worship service, preschool teachers will escort preschoolers to their Sunday school class in the preschool pod. Parents of first graders are asked to pick their child up after worship and walk upstairs to the first grade class with their child. Church Directory: Its time for us to update our photo directory. Youre invited to be a part of it. As you look around today, youll see we have new families. Were growing, and wed like to capture our growth. We will be photographing all families between 2 and 9 p.m. February 25-28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, February 29. Be sure to sign up for a slot; our directory wont be complete without you. Mens Breakfast Canceled: The Tuesday Mens breakfast will not meet January 21. The breakfast will resume January 28. Wednesday Night Programs: Please join us for Family Night Dinners, adult electives, and children and youth programs. Dinner starts at 5:45 p.m. and programs begin at 6:30 p.m. The planned menu for Wednesday is pancakes, bacon and fruit. Starting January 22, Dr. Darryl Evans will lead a series on Revelation. Rev. Chris Handley also will start a six-week study designed to help you know your own story as it intersects Gods story. Our understanding of how God has knit us together is imperative, not only for our own maturity in Christ, but also for sake of the greater Churchs maturity. Embracing Gods Word: The non-denominational Bible study is held on Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. This spring EGW is studying 1 Samuel, the follow-up to Joshua/Judges. Prayer Group: Men and women are welcome to join a prayer group that meets weekly at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays in the parlor. Just for Women: JFW Bible Study meets on Tuesdays in the CLC. Lunch ($7) begins at 11 a.m. and the 15-week study on Colossians is from noon to 1 p.m. Please bring a friend with you to join us as we open God’s Word. Time2PEEP: We will host our young friends from The Assembly from noon to 2 p.m. today with lunch provided for a time of playing, eating, praying, and encouragement. Families are welcome. First- through sixth-graders, make plans to be there! If you would like to volunteer, please contact Charissa Canfield, 843-621-0940. Women in Ministry: WIM will be gathering items throughout the months of December and January for “Cold Weather Bags” in support of the House of Hope’s ministry to the homeless. Items for the bags include: hand warmers, packets of hot chocolate/instant coffee/ramen noodles, bottles of water, socks, gloves, toboggan beanies, and hand sanitizer. There is a box in the Welcome Center for the items. WIM Mid-Winter Gathering: The annual gathering will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 25. Women in the church are invited to come! We will put together the Cold Weather Bags, enjoy fellowship, and a light lunch. Red Cross Blood Drive: First Presbyterian will host a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, and is in need of donors. To schedule an appointment to donate, please contact Kim Brauss in the office at 843-662-2583 or email her at [email protected] or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: FirstPresFlorence. Please spread the word to encourage others to give the gift of life. Stretch Your Faith fitness class is held at 5:15 p.m. on Mondays in the fellowship hall. There is no fee for this practice and is open to the community. Children’s Church and Message: On Sunday, January 26, Covenant Partner Emily Jordan will be leading Children’s Church during the 9 a.m. worship service and Deacon Caroline Genoble will be leading it during the 11 a.m. service. Covenant Partner Christina Jeffords will be presenting the Children’s Message during both services. Youth Ministry

Wednesday, January 22: 412 (large group), 5:30-7:30 p.m., dinner and lesson Children’s Ministry Director Search Committee: The members of the Search Committee for the next Director of Children’s Ministry are Ashley Bratton, Jeannie Brodie, Jim Dameron, Darryl Evans, Don Hebert, Laura Ann Hofler, and Susan Snow. They have finalized the job description, and a summary of the job description has been posted on the church website. Please pass along the information to anyone you know who may be interested in the position. You are encouraged to reach out to any of the committee members if you have questions or comments. Your input is welcomed, and your prayers are needed! Meals on Wheels: There is a need in our community for delivery of meals to some of Florence’s homebound elderly. This initiative launches out of the Leatherman Senior Center daily. Meals are prepared and deliveries are made to over 300 people each day. As many as 135 are still on the waiting list because of lack of funding and volunteers to deliver.
