• Group of neighboring clusters of galaxies

LOCAL GROUP

• Cluster of galaxies including the Milky Way and Andromeda

• Consists of billions of stars, gas, and dust held together by gravity

• Stars – a big ball of burning gas in space

PLANETS

• 8 objects that revolve around the sun

• They do not have as much mass as stars and cannot make their own light

EARTH

• One of 8 planets that revolve around the sun

• Moon – Earth’s only natural satellite, which is an object that revolves around a bigger object

ASTEROIDS

• A small irregular shaped object that revolves around the sun

COMET

• An object made up of ice that travels in an orbit around the sun

METEOROID

• An object entering the Earth’s atmosphere that is smaller than an asteroid
