January 28, 2018 10:15 AM Welcome and Announcements
GATHER IN GOD’S NAME
Prelude
● Call to Worship
Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song; People: Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Leader: Give thanks to God with your whole heart. People: Great are the works of the Lord. All: Let us worship God! ● Invocation ● Hymn of Praise-- #12 Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise………………………………....ST. DENIO
● Prayer of Confession Leader: The wisdom of the Lord is endless, and God’s grace is abundant. Trusting in God’s
grace, let us confess our sin. People: God, our Creator, we confess that we are broken, sinful creatures. You spoke to
us through the prophets, yet we have not kept your commands. You give a new teaching through Jesus, yet we fail to obey your living word. Forgive us, God of grace. Set us free from the grip of sin, cast out all that is evil within us, and bring us ever closer to you.
Leader: Those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will run and not be weary, they will walk and not grow faint. In Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven! Thanks be to God. Amen.

The victim of sin became the victor, and won the victory over sin and death for all.
Amen.

Hunger and Help Offering
Modeled after the first food bank, established in Phoenix in the mid-1970s, Second Harvest was designed to collect food that would otherwise be wasted, inspect and sort this food, and distribute it to soup kitchens, pantries, and shelters serving the hungry. During the first year, this process resulted in a total distribution of 160,000 pounds of food to 75-member agencies.
Today, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive of over 200 food banks and food distribution centers nationwide. During the 2016/2017 fiscal year, Second Harvest distributed more than 32 million pounds of food to more than 490 Partner Agencies, providing more than 26 million meals of food to hungry children, families and seniors throughout our 46-county service area.
The offering this month will include monetary donations plus food donations. Our goal is to donate over 1,000 lbs. of food. Items needed: canned veggies/soup/rice/pasta/baby food/canned meat/ canned fruit
