Lakewood Theatre Company Presents

The LostTreasures Collection

The Lost Treasures Collection is a new series of obscure and rarely performed musicals presented in concert on our Side Door stage. Picture Portland’s foremost performers presenting some of the most beautiful, comedic and witty songs of musical theatre free of sets, props and the usual trappings of a fully staged production. Our inaugural season features these romantic fables:

The Baker’s WifeOctober 22 - 23, 2010 (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)Based on the film La Femme de Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono, 1974Book by Joseph SteinMusic and Lyrics by Stephen SchwartzDirected by Ron DaumA small town finds peace and pleasure in the bread of the newly arrived baker and his at-tractive young wife. When she is lured away by a handsome young gigolo, the baker loses all zest for life and baking, throwing the Provencal community into chaos. Songs include: “Chanson”, “Proud Lady”, “Where is the Warmth?” and the smash hit “Meadowlark”.

CyranoJanuary 7 - 8, 2011 (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)Book and Lyrics by Anthony Burgess, 1973Music by Michael J. LewisBased on Edmond Rostand’s classic, “Cyrano de Bergerac” Directed by Ron DaumMeet Cyrano, a phenomenal swordsman, born leader and an artistic, intelligent poet with

the ability to enchant the hardest of souls... and a nose bigger than can be imagined. Cyrano secretly loves Roxan-na but when she tells him of her interest in the handsome yet inarticulate soldier Christian, Cyrano helps the young man woo her by acting as his muse and penning eloquent love letters. Songs include “The Nose Song”, “Roxanna”, “Bergerac” and “You Have Made Me Love”.

GreenwillowApril 22 - 23, 2011 (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)Music and Lyrics Frank Loesser, 1960Book by Frank Loesser and Lesser Samuels Based on the Best-Selling Novel by B.J. ChuteDirected by Ron DaumThis fantasy is set in the magical town of Greenwillow, where the eldest in each genera-

tion of Briggs men have been cursed with a powerful wanderlust and sends them travel-ing, leaving the ones they love behind them. Determined to stop the curse from passing to the next generation, Gideon Briggs vows never to marry. The citizens of Greenwillow (a cast of quirky, fablebook characters) must trust their hearts, to help Gideon listen to a new “call” and find his way back home for good.
