1 Product description
The FIST Street Cabinet, FIST-CAB2, is an all-purpose metal outdoor cabinet designed to accommodate the FIST generic shelf family (ETSI and 19”). It offers dust-proof, environmental and mechanical protection for the fiber management functions of splicing, patching and passive component integration. FIST-CAB2 is designed for outdoor applications and needs to be placed on a pedestal (Refer to the Application Guide for pedestal dimensions and main dimensions of the cabinet). The FIST-CAB2 can be fitted with FIST shelves (max. 7 shelves) and allows the storage of: − 672 primary coated fiber splices in single circuit management − 1344 primary coated fiber splices in single element management − 288 fiber terminations to cable pigtails with interconnect patching facility − 504 fiber terminations to cable pigtails with cross connect patching facility The FIST-CAB2 has provision for the installation of 7 FIST units, for example, 3 FIST-GSS2 (FIST Generic Splicing Shelf), 3 FIST-GPS2 (FIST Generic Patch Shelf), and 1 FIST-POM (Pigtail Orientation Module). We advise you to use the Application Guide to work out the required configuration before ordering the cabinet.

2 Ordering information
NOTE: When ordering a FIST-CAB2, it is important to always select the required accessories kit FIST-CAB2-A-X-XXXX (see section 2.2 and 3.3) and the necessary cable seal kits (see section 2.3.1 and 3.4.1). Refer to sections 3.1 and 3.3 for detailed product description and pictures. 2.1 FIST cabinet

01 Stand alone cabinet
− aluminum dual wall housing − 2 front doors with swing handle and 3 point actuated locking system − half cylinder lock with 2 keys − 2 ETSI mounting profiles, including the drum plates − 4 blank cable inlet plates (see section 3.3.1) − 4 eyebolts to unload cabinet from truck − 4 metal screw plugs to close the eyebolt holes after installation − 1 flexclip mounting plate (see section 3.3.1) − 1 set of loose tube storage holder 2.2 FIST cabinet accessories kit
When ordering a FIST outdoor cabinet, it is important to define the cabinet accessories kit. This accessories kit always contains the following standard components: − 7 attachment clips for flexible tube fixation (see section 3.3.1) − 1 installation instruction (showing how to terminate cables, install the GSS2 splicing & GPS2
patching shelves, etc.) The accessories kit allows the selection of the optional components: − Specific cable inlet plates for different cable diameters − The vertical pigtail management drums Each component can also be ordered separately (see Section 2.2.1). Although it is recommended that you initially order a cabinet together with a selected accessories kit and cable seal kits, the components of the accessories kit can also be ordered separately.

The cabinet needs to be placed on a pedestal (in plastic or constructed in concrete or bricks).

In addition to all the standard installation tools required to install FIST products, the following tools are needed for the installation of the FIST cabinet: Allen key M5, screw drivers (x and -) and:

3 Product guide
3.1 Cabinet description
The FIST-CAB2 double-wall cabinet consists of:

An aluminum construction containing: Two side- and one rear double-wall detachable panel, which are perforated at the bottom for natural airflow from bottom to top (air outlet via the roof). In case of extreme solar radiation, the natural convection of the air results in a good heat dissipation. It also controls the water condensation inside the cabinet.

A double wall roof construction, with 4 eyebolts preinstalled. After delivery and installation on the premises, these eyebolts can be removed and the threaded holes can be closed with metal screws (M10x16 included with the cabinet).

Two double wall front doors, left and right hinged, with a swing handle, a half cylinder lock (EURO DIN) with 3-point-latch system and a door stop. A document holder is mounted on the inside of the left door. All other small parts (screw, nuts, washers, etc.) are made from stainless steel type 316.

A sealed aluminum bottom plate with 4 cut-outs for cable inlet plates (2 left and 2 right - see section 3.3.1 for different cable inlet plates). The 4 cut-outs are sealed with blank plates.

2 Stainless steel ETSI mounting profiles, including the drum plates (for interconnection or cross-connection purposes) with integrated extrusion profiles with 41 holes for cage nuts M6 are mounted at the backside of the inner frame and allows the installation of the FIST splicing or patching shelves.

Two earthing provisions (M8) are available on the frame, near the door hinge.

In addition, 1 horizontal mounting plate for flexible tube fixations (max. 14 flexible tubes) is pre-installed on the right side of the cabinet. This mounting plate can also be relocated on the left side of the cabinet (10 extra T-nuts are supplied with the cabinet).

3.3.1 Flexclip mounting plate

Flexclip mounting plate FIST-CAB2-FMP-01 An additional plate to mount flexclips for max. 14 flextubes can be selected. (1 plate is already included in the basic FIST-CAB2). This kit contains also 1 pack with 7 attachment clips (FIST-FLEXCLIP-17-02) for mounting the flexible tubing, required to route the fibers to the splicing shelves (FIST-GSS2).

Attachment clip for flextube FIST-FLEXCLIP-17-02 The loose tubes of the FO cable are routed to different splicing shelves using flextubes to protect the fibers. These flextubes are hold by flexclips on the flexclip mounting plate.

Pigtail management drums FIST-CAB2-DRM-6 This kit of 6 drums with mounting screws, allows to create the vertical pigtail management function inside the cabinet for interconnect configuration or cross connection configuration.
Interconnection: 3 drums are installed on the left side and 3 drums are installed on the right side of the shelves.
Cross connection: 6 drums are installed on the left side of the shelves (see application guide for more details)

3.3.3 Cable inlet plates
The FIST-CAB has a bottom cover with 4 cut-outs (2 on the left and 2 on the right side). Depending on the type and quantity of cables used, different cable inlet plates can be selected:

About 600 mm of the pedestal is buried. The above-ground part has a removable front cover for access to the cable overlength space. A U-shaped profile is available for cable fixation with tie-wraps.

This 1200 mm high pedestal is typically used when no concrete base is available, and the ground conditions are unstable. About 900 mm of the pedestal is buried. The above-ground part has a removable front cover for access to the cable overlength space. A U-shaped profile is available for cable fixation with tie-wraps.

Side connection kit FIST-CAB2-SCK This kit should be used if two cabinets are connected side-to-side in order to maintain an IP55 sealing rating. The kit includes the frame to put in between the cabinets, mounting bolts, nuts, washers and distance brackets to put in between the anchor frames if anchor frame kits (FIST-CAB2-AFK) are used.

Back connection kit FIST-CAB2-BCK This kit should be used if two cabinets are connected back-to-back in order to maintain an IP55 sealing rating. The kit includes the frame to put in between the cabinets, mounting bolts, nuts, washers and distance brackets to put in between the anchor frames if anchor frame kits (FIST-CAB2-AFK) are used.

Anchor frame kit FIST-CAB2-AFK An anchor frame is used on the casted concrete pedestal and includes anchor hooks that should be imbedded in the wet mortar. If cabinets are connected side-to-side or back-to-back, they need to be outlined perfectly to maintain their sealing rate. This will be obtained by using distance brackets between their anchor frames.
