SETON PRAYER FOR LIFE Today marks the 44th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that effectively legalized abortion on demand in the United States. Every year, Seton Parish joins with Americans around the nation in fasting, prayer, and peaceful witness to re-member the millions of lives affected by the tragedy of abortion. This Friday, January 27th, while our pilgrims are demonstrating and praying in Washington, DC at the annual March for Life, we will have two special periods of prayer for the unborn and an end to abortion in our nation. 11:30am-12pm Seton School Prayer Service for Life 7:30-8:30pm Holy Hour for Life with Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction and a special Rosary for Life. Come and pray with us! Bring your children! All are welcome! “A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.” – Pope Saint John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no. 100.

Seton’s Men’s Ministry All men are welcome to join us any Saturday morning in Our Lady’s Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30AM. We gather each week, before most family time activities start, over coffee and bagels for fellowship, prayer, and to discuss that Sunday’s Gos-pel reading. We offer mutual support and discuss the challenges of being faithful Catholic men, husbands, fathers, co-workers and members of the community. Contact Fr. Quarato for more information.

Join Fr. Quarato on a 10-day Catholic Pilgrimage Tour to Sicily & Italy, including: Palermo, Cefalu, Catania, Taormina, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Monte Cassino, Rome & the Vati-can. May 23 - June 1, 2017. $3,695 all-inclusive from New York (JFK) / $495 single supplement. Daily Mass. For infor-mation speak with Fr. Quarato at 914.528.3547 or con-tact: Pilgrimage Tours, 1766 Scherersville Road, Allentown, PA 18104. 1-800-278-1351. E-mail: [email protected].

ANNULMENTS Last Spring, His Holiness, Pope Francis overhauled the pro-cess of obtaining the Church Declaration of the Nullity of a Marriage that took place in a Catholic Church: -there is no fee for the process: -the NY Archdiocese can now handle the procedure, no matter where in the world the Marriage took place; -the process is reduced to one step rather than a second review that was formerly required; -the application form to begin the process may be downloaded from the in-ternet! If you were married in the Catholic Church and, re-grettably, the Marriage has broken up, you are invited to speak with one of our priests or the deacon.

Speak to us about Getting Married in Church

If you were married in a civil ceremony, we invite you to con-sider making vows in church. The priests and deacon are willing to work with you. We invite all couples to visit FORMED.ORG and watch BELOVED – from the producers of the renowned SYMBOLON series – which explores the spiritual and eternal reality behind "I Do." Beautifully filmed and featuring acclaimed marriage experts, BELOVED SPEAKS TO THE VERY HEART OF EVERY HUSBAND AND WIFE, BRINGING SACRA-MENTAL TRUTH AND GOD-INFUSED LOVE INTO THE EVERYDAY CHALLENGES OF MARRIED LIFE. Beloved: Mystery & Meaning of Marriage includes six inspiring and informative videos you can view as a couple at home. To sign onto FORMED, check page 7 of this bulletin for information about this FREE CATHO-LIC WEB SERVICE.

Cold/Flu Season–Some Precautions! In order to ensure the health of all, some precautions are advisable. If you are sick or showing symptoms of a cold/flu please remain at home for your own wellbeing and for the wellbeing of others in our parish family. There is no obliga-tion to attend Mass if you are ill. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are to use the available hand sanitizer be-fore entering the sanctuary to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion. As a general rule, close contact with oth-ers is best avoided. At the sign of peace, consider a kind word, or a bow, nod or a wave instead of shaking hands. Hand shaking is not required. Avoiding close contact with others will go a long way in helping prevent the spread of the common cold/flu. Thank you for your cooperation!

Catechist Needed The Religious Ed program is in need of a 7th grade catechist for Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:00pm. Please call the RE office at 914-528-8553. We will assist and train you. Could God be calling you?

A Note about Becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation

It is a great honor to be asked to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a “godparent” is to be an “other parent” in matters of our holy Faith. That is why sponsors must be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older (14 years old in the Archdiocese of New York), having received Catholic Confirmation and currently living a good Christian moral life. If the sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. It is customary to have two for Baptism, in which case one must be male and the other female. Parents may not be sponsors. A baptized non-Catholic may replace the second Baptism sponsor as a Christian witness. Non-Christians may not be Sponsors. Former Catholics may not be sponsors. A nominated sponsor is asked to get certification from his/her current parish. This is a declaration by a priest/deacon that the individual is qualified to be a sponsor according to Church Law. To be so certified, the individual must be a current parishioner of the particular parish where the certification is being sought, and be known to the priest/deacon as being a faithful practicing Cath-olic, attending Mass there weekly. Those away at college or graduate school or in the military should seek certification from their campus ministries or chaplains. Unfortunately, at times, family members or friends are cho-sen to be sponsors with good intentions, but are found to be ineligible according to Church Law. Also, more and more, people seem to think that they are still “parishioners” of their childhood parish, where they attended school or re-ceived sacraments years ago, while no longer living in the area or attending Mass there regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities. Here, at Seton, Certificates of Sponsorship are given by the pastor to registered members of the parish who are practicing Catholics, and who meet the above criteria. Please see the pastor after Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday to inquire about getting a certificate.

It’s Time to Come Home! www.CatholicsComeHome.org

Helpful advice offered is a wonderful thing! Please welcome our children and give them a smile of encouragement to their parents.
