Today we celebrate Corpus Christ- -- the Most Holy Body and Blood of Our Lord. Today’s celebration focuses on the Gift of the Last Supper, the Gift of the
Eucharist. This feast is relatively new in the Church. It was instituted in the thirteenth century through the influence of St. Julianna of Monte Cornellion, sometimes referred to as Julianna of Liege. She was deeply devoted to the Eucharist and wanted others to stop their lives for one day and celebrate this great gift. In 1246, she persuaded her bishop to make this a feast day for the Diocese of Liege. Pope Urban IV declared it a Feast for the entire Church in 1264. Today’s feast is meant to help us grow in the understanding of the Eucharist and in our reverence for this great sacrament. We certainly need this reminder. We have the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle behind our altar, but many times we ignore this Presence and treat the Church merely as a meeting place. We need to genuflect when we enter a pew and then spend a few moments in prayer, recognizing the One before whom we are kneeling.
With much love and affection, I remain

Jan. 20-28, 2021 – March for Life Week in Washington, D.C., Fr. Mouton & others. As reported previously in numerous bulletins, please give prayerful consideration for attending with me. Know that usually it is cold and snowing so one would have to prepare accordingly; but I will apprise you as the time draw nearer of weather conditions. God Bless to all. Even though I usually stay at the Josephite Seminary in D.C., when I take larger groups we make reservations at Embassy Suites Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia just three miles from our Nation’s Capital and one mile from Washington National Airport (Ronald Reagan). Therefore, it depends on the interest of individuals and/or families as to our options for accommodations.
We will attend the annual Mass for Life at the National Cathedral Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception the evening before and then the March the following day beginning at 11:00a.m. with meal following at Union Station,
Dubliner Irish Pub, Josephite Seminary Refectory, or Hotel restaurant. Again, please call if you are interested in this pilgrimage.
Prayer for Safety in Hurricane Season
“God, master of this passing
world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season we turn to you, O loving father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O virgin, star of the sea, Our beloved mother, we ask you to plead with your son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your divine son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.” Bishop Maurice Schexnayder
Please clip and put on refrigerator or in prayer books to pray daily for the safety of all. Note: Hurricane season begins June 1st. Let us all pray to the Lord to spare us once again from another catastrophe. And in the May 31st bulletin was included an insert for suggestions for Hurricane Preparedness, hopefully this will aide all of our parishioners to take the necessary precautions in advance. We love you and let us keep each other in prayer daily but even now more fervently during these trying times.
Pro-Life Corner!
May increased devotion to Jesus, hidden, yet physically present in the Eucharist, deepen our care for unborn children, hidden beneath the hearts of their mothers: We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer!
To: All who assisted with the rededication and blessing of our Presbyter Church lags on Thursday,
May 29 which included the Mayor,
Clerk of Court, Rotary Club members and parishioners who attended. They look fantastic and add to the beauty of this historic building.
From the Diocese! As you’re aware, the Year of St. Joseph was set to begin on March 19th of this year. In light of our current situation, those opening events were
canceled. After meeting with the bishop, we’ve decided to adjust our schedule.
The year will now open on Sunday, August 16th, 2020. At Saturday anticipated Masses and Sunday Masses of that weekend, the bishop is directing all parishes to celebrate the Votive Mass of St. Joseph with its accompanying readings instead of the usual 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time (GIRM 374). This weekend will also be an opportunity: To celebrate St. Joseph Altars, especially for those parishes who were unable to celebrate this past March.
To place Bishop Deshotel’s pastoral le er in bulle ns
To preach on the person and life of St. Joseph, emphasizing his adora on, obedience, and service
To distribute the Year of St. Joseph commemora ve booklet Additionally, Bishop Deshotel will celebrate two opening events: Opening Mass at St. Joseph in Patterson on Sunday, August 16th at 9:00am; and Adoration & Evening Prayer at the Cathedral on Sunday, August 16th at 6:00pm.
The year will close on Saturday, May 1st, 2021. Bishop Deshotel will celebrate a Closing Mass at St. Joseph’s in Milton on Saturday, May 1st at 10:00am, with food and music following on the grounds there in Milton.
Our 13 St. Joseph’s parishes, each deanery, as well as the offices and ministries at the chancery are also organizing events for the year. We hope to provide each parish with a packet of material by July 1, 2020.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS WITH THESE EVENTS PLANNED AND SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS.
St. Joseph, Pray for us!

Next Sunday, June 21 we celebrate the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time and also
Father’s Day. We offer to you the following prayer for Father’s both living
and deceased:
Father, we come before you today humbled and in awe of
Your grace and mercy. Lord, we thank You for the way You
have designed what a family is supposed to look like and the
specific roles You have ordained to a mother and a father of
how to lead their children.
Yet Lord, through our sinful ways we have taken what You
have made holy and created our own version of today’s
families. Because of this, our children are suffering. It is for the
fathers, families, and children of our nation that we do pray
today.
Lord, we pray specifically for fathers and fatherhood across
our land. Your Word clearly instructs fathers to bring up their
children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians
6:4). God, we thank You for the men who are leading and have
lead according to Your statutes and the ones that are laying
their lives down for Your purposes.
We pray that You will continue to use these men to lead their
families and other men. We pray You will strengthen the fathers
of our nation and that You will continue to empower churches,
organizations, and individuals to invest in fathers and
fatherhood for the sake of our children. Amen
