Enhancing Technical Competencies AMBD places high priority on building up the technical expertise of its officers. Two officers completed the first phase of The Global Certificate Program for Regulators of Securities Markets from 18 June to 2 July 2017 in Madrid, Spain. The first phase covered the fundamentals and intricacies of securities regulation and compliance. The second phase will examine current and future regulatory challenges and emerging issues. FIU officers completed a range of AML/CFT trainings including training in the areas of risk, analysis and implementation of designation of persons and entities related to terrorism. Takaful and insurance officers completed Phase II and III trainings on Risk-Based Supervision Framework. Phase II covered risk management oversight function and risk ratings, whereas Phase III covered the calculations of net risk and overall net risk, capital, earnings, liquidity and composite risk rating. General Development Training The Young Executive Leadership Programme (YELP) for the second cohort of AMBD officers consisting of 24 Managers, kicked off in August 2017. AMBD conducted two in-house training courses: Clerical Enhancement Workshop, with the objective of increasing employees’ knowledge on customer service practices and methods of service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders; and Personal Development Workshop, with the objective of developing employees’ key strengths. Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) A fire marshal training was held from 27 February to 1 March 2017 where designated fire marshals gained the skills and knowledge needed to act confidently and competently in case of a fire in the workplace. Manpower Planning In January 2017, AMBD held a manpower audit to analyse the current manpower of AMBD and to conduct a five-year manpower forecast for each business unit. The findings from the audit assisted the management in its strategic planning and decision making, particularly to avoid any redundancy and overlapping of tasks and responsibilities. Two officers completed the first phase of The Global Certificate Program for Regulators of Securities Markets from 18 June to 2 July 2017 in Madrid, Spain. The first phase covered the fundamentals and intricacies of securities regulation and compliance. The second phase will examine current and future regulatory challenges and emerging issues.

Recognition of staff

Officers and staff of AMBD were awarded the Pingat Kerja Lama or Long Service Medal in recognition of their contribution and service to the nation

The medals were awarded in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 70th birthday in 2016 and were presented by the Deputy Chairman of AMBD on 15 May 2017.

AMBD RAYA GATHERING

On 13 July 2017, AMBD held a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering where AMBD officers and staff showed their creativity through movie-themed booths as a tribute to the late Tan Sri Datuk Amar Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Putih, better known as P. Ramlee. During the event, HRH Chairman of AMBD also presented tokens and certificates of appreciation to AMBD officers and staff who retired between 2011 and 2017.

AMBD INTERHOUSE GAMES

AMBD held its annual interhouse games where four teams competed in badminton, bowling, netball, futsal tournaments and mini games.

The AMBD Lions receivedthe winning trophy in 2017.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

To promote awareness of environmental conservation and to foster team building, AMBD organised a beach cleaning campaign at Pantai Muara on 15 January 2017.

Projek Keluarga, an annual program to help families in need, was conducted in May 2017 where AMBD donated money and household items such as groceries to two families.

Employee Engagement Activities

AMBD hosted a variety of events in 2017 to bring its officers and staff together.
