Conclusion:
In a nutshell, most of the recreational parks do not have common
exercising area such as the basketball and badminton courts.
However, there's is a country club with comprehensive facilities,
which include Olympic sized swimming pool, tennis courts, squash
& badminton courts, bowling alley, gym, snooker and pool room,
coffee house and a beautiful 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf
course. Sadly, it is a private club which only welcomes its
members. Only club members are allow to enjoy those facilities in
the club.

Proposal – Recreational Area
In this 1216 m2 land, we have decided to develop a mini sports
and recreational area (MSRA) that would benefits the residence of
Ascara Residence, Kajang, Selangor in terms of health and
relationship between the residence. This MRSA consists of a 420
m2 basketball court, two 105 m2 badminton courts, bicycle stop
and an exercise area.
Considering that most of the user would be the children and
teenagers, the bicycle stop is being introduced. The bicycle stop
also encourages the residences to be more active in exercising
which promotes good health.
Besides, bleachers are provided to watch competitions that are
especially being organized by the authorities of the Ascara
Residence. 2 benches are also being provided in between 2
badminton courts as most of the players tend to be very tired after
the intensive game and they could keep their eye open on their
belongings that are being placed on the benches.
Moreover, there will be one mini garden that the residence could
exercise and also relax at as the gazebo is being provided. The
senior residences could spend most of their time to keep their
minds alert.
Next, the sporting net will be built around the proposed MRSA
to prevent the ball from getting out of the court for safety purposes.
There will be two entrances in the park. The first one would be the
entrance near the mini garden and the other one would be near the
basketball courts.

Concept – Green Materials
The Mini Sport and Recreational Park will be designed on a
40 m X 30 m site in Kajang, Ascara Residence. The proposed
MRSP will be built using mainly green or sustainable materials
such as the green concrete. The production of normal concrete
produces large amount of carbon dioxide. The badminton and
basketball courts will be built mainly using green concrete. By
using this material, I could cut the overall construction cost and it’s
more sustainable. Besides, the gazebo is being included in the park
so that the senior residence is able to keep their minds alert by
communicating with each other.

Facilities Basketball
A 420 m2 basketball court is being included in the
plan. The basketball court will be constructed using
green concrete. This is court is being built is because
we have found out that the surrounding
neighborhoods do not have any basketball court. So,
by building it, it helps basketball players and those
who are interested to improve their health and also
skills as well as unite them.

Badminton Court
After doing few researches around the neighborhoods,
we have also found out that those neighborhoods are
lacked of badminton courts. We have planned to
construct two badminton courts at the site to
encourage healthy lifestyle and clearer minds.

Bicycle Stop
We have also proposed bicycle stop in the recreation
park at Ascara Residence. The reason we proposed
bicycle stop is that we estimate that most of the user
would be the teenagers and children of the Ascara
residence. Therefore, most of them would use bicycle
to travel to the park. Moreover, adults are also
encouraged to cycle to improve their health.

22 Introduction To Construction Industry Final Project
Rationale & Benefit We found that the surrounding area of Ascara Residence do not
have enough sport facilities. In order to take part in sport activities
(basketball), one has to travel out from the neighborhood. By doing
so, it not only will affect the safety of the residence but also their
health. (Intake of CO2 from vehicles)
The site is an abandoned space. As a result, the site is currently
purposeless. Therefore, in order to fully utilize the space in the
residential area, a park is being built for win-win situation.
This Mini Sport and Recreational Park is being built for several
reasons and benefits. First and foremost, it is to promote healthy
lifestyle to the Ascara Residence.
The courts are being included in the construction plan is mainly
to empower and motivate the youth. Sports will not only keep their
minds at the top form but also neutralize youth with higher energy.
The park also
Besides, the park is being built to unite the Ascara residence.
By taking part in those activities that could be done in the park will
improve the bond between the residence which leads to a safer
residential area. Everyone will take care and cooperate with each
other.
