• Hussein wanted all the Arabian peninsula, the entire Fertile Crescent, and parts of southeastern Turkey

• McMahon agreed with Hussein that there should be an Arab land, but he left the borders vague

• Despite McMahon’s hedging, the Arabs thought they had a deal
