Oriole Park Public School is located at Eglinton Avenue andAvenue Road, nestled in a well-established community of mostlysingle unit homes. The school opened in 1928 under the name ofCollege View Avenue School with portables on the present siteand an enrolment of 28 students. The current school buildingwas first occupied in 1930 and renamed Oriole Park PublicSchool. A wing was added in 1939 and a gymnasium in 1974. The school has both a primary and junior play area, a basketballcourt, soccer field and two baseball diamonds. The libraryincludes a computer lab and the classrooms have terminalsaccessible to all students. Oriole Park has a highly regardedacademic program and offers a broad range of co-curricularactivities.
Home and SchoolConnections...Teachers organize severalopportunities throughout the schoolyear for parents and children to cometogether for Family events. Many ofthese events take place in theevenings or late in the afternoonwhere parents with their children can interact in a focusedcurricular area; for example, Family Math Night and ScienceShowcase.

Active School CommunityOur parent community works in many ways to support our staff andstudents. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available for thosewho have the time to commit on a regular basis or for those whocan help out on a field trip or special classroom program. Variousfundraisers are organized to enrich and supplement what the schoolcan offer our students.
Tomorrow's Teachers Today!Oriole Park is proud to host a variety of teacher candidates into ourschool community. Having these budding educators in addition toour regular volunteers and Tutor in the Classroom helps provideadditional support for our students, as well as exposure to differentperspectives and teaching styles.
Music at Oriole...All of our students have rich experiences in music. With a musicteacher on staff, students get music instruction weekly. In additionto our regular music program, grade 5 & 6 students receive band orstrings instruction. Extra-curricular arts activities include a choir,dance group and school wide musical.

Student Life - Where You Belong
In addition to a rigorous academic program, students havemany opportunities to participate in a variety of co-curricularopportunities. We have a variety of athletic teams thatparticipate in competition against other TDSB schools inbasketball, soccer, cross country, ice hockey, softball, trackand field, ultimate frisbee and volleyball. We host a schoolwide performance that allows all of our students toparticipate but allows those with a bit of dramatic flair to takeon lead roles. A choir performs at assemblies and otherschool events. Students are also offered the opportunity toparticipate in clubs such as Chess, Kids Lit, Dance, Yoga,Art and Mind during the lunch hour. As children movethrough our school, they are provided with manyopportunities to become school leaders through theirinvolvement as lunch monitors, office helpers and studentannouncers. Large fundraisers such as the Terry Fox Runhelp develop student awareness to charity fundraisers whilethe grassroots fundraisers such as class organized bookdrives help the students make a difference for others.
What Sets Us Apart
As a small school, a genuine sense of community isdeveloped among our student body. Through our learningbuddies, older students have the opportunities to interactwith younger students on a variety of projects. Our studentsare provided with arts enrichment projects that allow them towork with professional artists on a special project. Ourstudents are exposed to a variety of genres in the arts fromopera to ballet, puppetry to multi-media productions. Scientists in the Schools makes the science the children arelearning more real through hands-on interactive workshopsa couple of times a year. Diverse learning experiencesenrich our students' learning opportunities.
Parent and Community Engagement
Our parents are committed to providing resources and enrichmentactivities for all of our students. Many of our parents volunteer toassist with safe school arrival, our library, organizing birthdaypencils, lice detection and as grade parents. A variety of parent runcommittees are organized to facilitate fundraising activities, scienceenrichment and arts enrichment. Regular family movie nights, afamily skate night and our annual Mayfair event bring our communitytogether outside the regular school program. These type of eventsfurther encourage and support our sense of community.
