Setting the Pace to $1 MillionOrlando Strides has a goal this year to raise $1,000,000 to Finish the Fight Against Breast Cancer. That looks like a big number but together we can get this done! Here is one way to look at how easy it is to reach that goal. Break the $1 Million down to a dollar figure each of our fifty-five thousand striders can manage — it is $18.18 per person. Less than $20.00 per person will together make the difference and get us to $1 Million. We can do that and many of us can do more.
Recently, the Top Fundraising Teams and Pacesetters from the 2014 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fundraising Walk met to exchange ideas and get creative juices flowing to beat their numbers raised last year. These teams and individuals are “all in” all of the time when it comes to their passion and commitment to Finishing the Fight. A number of them fund raise year round but many start now and often use their fundraising activities as an opportunity to enjoy
the company of friends, family and co-workers while they party with a purpose.
Here are just a few of the things they do to “Set-the-Pace” to reach the $1 Million. Use an idea or two from the list and add your own flair to them, then share with us on our Facebook page:www.facebook.com/orlandostrides. Our social media volunteers will help spread the word to drive more fundraising dollars to your team. We are in this together and our combined ORLANDOSTRIDES TEAM can meet the challenge. See you at the finish line!
Fundraising Ideas: • Rummage/Garage sale — put a note on your sale signs that proceeds benefit
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.• Bake Sale — Ask for donation vs set price. Generally raises more $$.• Spare Change Jar — Ask everyone to donate to it (Work/home).• Raffles and 50/50 drawings — See idea from Bank United in this issue.• Social Media — Publicity and team recruiting for your activities.• Corn Hole Tournaments, Other sporting challenges.• Restaurant Give-Back nights.• Pink mustache day at the office or any creative use of pink attire. Pay to wear.
• Pink bucket placed out for donations at whatever you are doing. Raise awareness/raise money.
