Shoulder and Elbow Society of India (SESI) had gathered Orthopaedic surgeons who were interested in the sub specialty. Over 200 surgeons from India and Abroad were benefitted from the discussions. Best Paper Award and Budding Shoulder Surgeon Award were also given.

Gold Medalist -Dr.P.YuvarajanThe Annual Tamil Nadu OrthopaedicAssociation conference was held in Maduraion February 9th, 2019 (Saturday). Severalpapers were presented on different topics.Dr. P. Yuvarajan - Joint Replacement, JointReconstruction, Hip Preservation Surgeon ofOrtho-One presented a paper on thefollowing topic, “A Reliable Radiological andAnatomical tool to restore the Joint Line inTKR for Indian Population” for which he wasawarded the Gold Medal.
We wish to congratulate Dr. Yuvarajan, on his well-deserved successand indeed it was a proud moment for all of us at Ortho-One.
A new scoringsystem forprediction of meniscal repair in
traumatic meniscal tearsTraditionally, MRI has not been used to predict meniscus tearreparability. An attempt has been made to predict meniscalreparability using MRI, and a new scoring system to help with thesame has been developed and tested by Dr.Vinay Kumaraswamy,Arun G.Ramaswamy, Dr. M.Shyam Sundar, Dr. David V.Rajan,Dr. Karthik M. Selvaraj, Dr. Santosh Sahanand and Dr. Deebak.
Thirty repaired menisci were compared with equal number ofmeniscectomy cases retrospectively. Various clinical and radiological(radiographs and MRI) characteristics like chronicity of tear, pattern oftear, etc, were tabulated. Based on their association with the outcomeof repair or meniscectomy, odds ratio of each attribute werecalculated. A scoring system Ortho-One PROMT Score (Prediction ofReparability of Meniscal Tears) to predict meniscal repair wasformulated. Using this score, meniscus surgery outcomes wereprospectively predicted in 120 cases and results tabulated.
