Oscar Romero was a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in El Salvador, South America.
He was assassinated while saying Mass on March 24, 1980.
He was killed because he spoke out about poverty, injustice and violence.
“If we are worth anything, it is not because we have more money or more talent, or more human qualities...”
“…Insofar as we are worth anything, it is because we are grafted on to Christ's life,
his cross and resurrection…”
“…That is a person's measure.” Archbishop Oscar Romero, March 4 1979
Our hands are not tied. We are called to work together for justice in our world.
To use our hands, our hearts and our minds to follow Oscar Romero’s example to speak out against poverty and
injustice.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.Prayer of St Francis of Assisi Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.Where there is hatred, let me sow love.Where there is injury, pardon.Where there is doubt, faith.Where there is despair, hope.Where there is darkness, light.Where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master,Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.Amen.
