Note: Use the LOCATOR Male Installation/ Removal Tool to remove and insert the plastic male parts from the LOCATOR Denture Caps (clear – most retentive, blue – least retentive). Plastic male parts are also available without a nipple to accommodate the increased divergent implant.

LOCATOR® INSTALLATION: CHAIRSIDESAME FOR ALL LOCATOR® IMPLANTSNOTE: It is recommended that you wait 12 weeks before restoring the 3.25mm LOCATOR® Implants.

Place the white Block Out Spacer(s) over the head of the LOCATOR to prevent acrylic from attaching to the implant head.

Note: Confirm that none of the LOCATOR head is exposed for the acrylic to attach to.

Snap on the Denture Cap, with the black processing male, over the LOCATOR and apply any standard location indicator paste on top of the cap.

Align and place the denture in the mouth picking up the indicator paste on the denture.

Ream out the denture where the indicator paste has marked. Repeat step C and D until the denture seats passively in the mouth.

Rinse, clean & dry denture and Denture Cap before proceeding.

Apply acrylic into reamed out areas of denture and insert denture back into the patient. Have the patient bite together until the acrylic has set.

After the acrylic has set, remove the denture with the LOCATOR caps, now attached, from the mouth and trim off any excessive acrylic from the denture and the Denture Caps.

After determining that the denture is seated correctly with the LOCATORs, remove the black processing male from the Denture Caps and replace them with the desired colour retentive attachments.

This technique takes advantage of the innate elasticity and fl exibility of bone. SLOW, STEADY pressure created as the screws advance expands the alveolar bone without raising the fl ap.

TUTORIAL RIDGE EXPANDING PROCEDURE

Prepare the osteotomy with an ACE .8mm/1.6mm Step Pilot Bur to desired implant depth. Drilling speed should be 600 -

1,000 rpm.

Use either a contra-angle or hand drive tool to drive the

expanders (in sequential order) to the desired osteotomy

width. Use a 3.6mm expander for 3.75mm/4.0mm implants. Use a 4.3mm expander for

4.75mm implants.

Using the 2.5mm expander tap into the prepared pilot hole to the desired implant

length. Drilling speed should be 25 rpm.

Using the 3.1mm expander next, increase the size of the

osteotomy. Drilling speed should be 25 rpm.

Use the 3.6mm as the fi nal expander for a 3.75mm /

4.0mm implant. If placing a 4.75mm implant continue with

a 4.3mm expander. Drilling speed should be 25 rpm.

Insert the appropriate sized implant into the osteotomy,

which now has a compressed boney interface.

TUTORIAL Internal sinus lift procedure utilising Easyretrieve two-piece trephine

Instead of starting the osteomy with graduated

drills, start with a 3.50mm I.D. trephine. Start in reverse to minimise

chatter, going forward in 2mm increments.

As the trephine comes close to the sinus

membrane, use slow speed – no water. Remove

the trephine.

Extract the tooth which, in many cases, is a maxillary

molar. Use the least traumatic technique, such as dividing the tooth into

three sections, and remove each root separately so as not to damage the

interproximal or labial plate of bone. Periotomes may

Instead of starting the osteomy with graduated

drills, start with a 3.50mm I.D. trephine. Start in reverse to minimise

chatter, going forward in 2mm increments.

As the trephine comes close to the sinus

membrane, use slow speed – no water. Remove

the trephine.

Push out harvested bone by removing the contra angle

shaft from trephine. Assemble the bone removal

tool on the trephine and slowly turn plunger knob to push bone out. Use a sterile bowl to gather the harvested

bone for re-use.

Then take a 4.75mm tap and try to elevate the bone

and sinus membrane. If there is resistance, go back and use the trephine again. Repeat until you see the tap going apically. Again slow

speed – no water.

Increase the elevation with the trephine to the

desired depth.

Insert the bone core and again use tap, but only in

1-2mm increments.

Then take desired implant and slowly insert into elevated

osteotomy site. After the implant has been placed,

the areas where the socket existed should be grafted with the bone graft material of your choice if necessary. The area should be covered with tissue

in an attempt to achieve primary closure.
