Welcome to worship at Calvary Lutheran Church! We pray that your faith in Christ is encouraged as you worship with us. Please turn off your devices in worship spaces.

About Holy Communion: Our Lord Jesus gives us his body and blood in this sacra-ment with bread and wine, and assures us that we receive forgiveness of sins and the promise of life and salvation. All who believe that Christ is present in the bread and wine are welcome to this table. Children who wish to receive a blessing may come forward to the rail as well.

If desired, a nursery is available during the service for infants through age 5.

Listening devices are availa-ble. Please contact an usher.

P 8Philip said to [Jesus,] “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. 12Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in

the Son. 14If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it. 15“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. 17This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

Thanksgiving at the Table

P Holy God, Breath of life and Fire of love: with a mighty wind you brought creation into being, and by a pillar of fire you led your people into freedom.

C We praise you for the gift of your Son, who poured out your Spirit on his disciples of every race and nation.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,

and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Remembering therefore, his death, resurrection, and the sending of the holy and life-giving Spirit,

C we await his coming again to renew the face of the earth.

Send now your Holy Spirit upon us and upon this meal: anoint us with your gifts of faith, hope, and love,

C that, with thankful hearts, we may be witnesses to your Son.

Through him all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever.

C Amen.

A Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us.

C Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. Sit Communion Today we receive Holy Communion kneeling at the rail. When the usher instructs, please come forward to kneel at the rail as space is available. We fill in from the front to the back. Please stay at the rail to pray as long as you desire. If you are unable to come forward, please sit by the aisle and let an usher know; a minister will bring Communion to you in your seat.

THE LEADERSHIP RETREAT IS TODAY from 1:00—4:00 p.m. in the Great Room. As a part of our on-going discernment, the Leadership Team will prayerfully test a possible metaphor for our identity. During the May Leadership Team Retreat, using the Design Thinking process to spur innovative ideas, a num-ber of metaphors surfaced as potentially viable, feasible, and desirable for a future identity. To test the identity, we will explore the metaphor for significance and meaning, then we will imagine how that metaphor could possibly shape the vari-ous ministries of the church. We hope to discover if this metaphor guiding our ministries might help encourage inclusion, energize faith, and motivate people to live beyond themselves.

LAST CHANCE - RSVP FOR THE MARRIAGE RETREAT happening on Saturday, June 15th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Great Room.
