OptiX Metro3100 is a new

generation of STM-16 Multi-Service

Transmission Platform (MSTP)

Functions:

1. Receiving direction

SEQ1/SOQ1 sends received optical signals to SP8

SP8 sends the signals to XCS

2. Transmitting direction

SP8 receives VC-4 signals from XCS

inserts overhead bytes in turn to form STM-1 signals

scrambles and sends the signals to SEQ1/SOQ1

(1) XCS at the upstream station is damaged or XCS board is not in position

(2) Synchronous timing unit at the upstream station is damaged

(3) Optical module in this board is damaged

(4) Bit error is too large
