Chris Lightner Submitted by Craig Rineman Chris Lightner has been doing a fantastic job over the last few months with his time of response on relight opportunities- particularly the Armstrong Flooring plant and also recent opportunity at Alcoa. He has displayed a great attitude and is helping to promote SYD’s lighting team. This effort is much appreciated. Especially considering limited staff in the SYD lighting department and the stiff lighting competition. Thanks to Chris for his efforts. It has been a pleasure working with him of late. I’m now looking forward to finding more lighting opportunities. Schaedler Yesco reaches Africa

Duquesne University – New “Green” Dormitory

Schaedler Yesco provided solar materials for the new Duquesne University Des Places Residence Hall in Pittsburgh. Solar panels, racking, inverters, monitoring and commodities were sold to Star Electric who installed the 10kw solar PV system which is the first one on campus. The solar PV system was part of a LEED gold certification that also included other sustainability and energy efficiency measures. The new dorm will save an estimated 22 percent in energy each year. Construction

on the $37.4 million 12 -story dormitory was completed in July and opened to 430 Duquesne University students in August. As a result of the success of this project we are also discussing with the university other similar solar PV systems on campus and further business development opportunities in lighting, power quality, power monitoring, power quality and electric vehicle charging stations. From Pittsburgh to Harrisburg this was a great SYD team effort from the following individuals: Al Panza, Jack Przeklasa, Rodger Hatfield and John Polites.

The new dorm was highlighted in various news outlets in the Pittsburgh area.
