Availability of parking The council operates 21 car parks that offer 1,330 parking spaces in the town centre. Private car park providers offer a further 1,200 spaces. All of the car parks operate on a pay and display system and offer short, medium, or long stay tariffs. Parking permits The council offers parking permits, which can be used in 11 of the council’s 21 car parks. These permits can be purchased for the following periods: 8am to 6pm – £350 per year, £35 for one month, £95 for three months 6pm to 8am – £210 per year, £25 for one month, £60 for three months Twenty four hours – £450 per year, £45 for one month, £120 for three months Half price residents’ permits are available for those living in town centre streets; please contact us for further information. Proof of residency will be required. Trader parking permits The council also offers a number of designated parking bays reserved for town centre businesses. Permits for these designated parking bays are only £100 for a three-month period, £35 for one month or £370 per year. All permits are valid seven days a week. Cycle parking Cycle racks for secure cycle parking are available at the locations on the map. Coach parking Town centre coach parking is available at Bond Street off St George’s Road. Parking tickets cost £3.50 for 24 hours and should be purchased from St Georges Road, PE21 8YB car park. Motorcycle parking Free spaces, designated by the letters “M/C only”, are provided at various points throughout the town centre. West End parking refund scheme During certain periods cinema customers who have purchased a parking ticket in West End car park will be entitled to a refund from the cinema for up to the value of four hours parking. For details of these times please visit the cinema website. Parking for Blue Badge holders On-street parking – Blue Badge holders are permitted to park free-of-charge within all of the on- street car parks operated by the council. Off-street parking Blue Badge holders must pay to park in all off-street car parks operated by the council. An additional free period of 30 minutes will be added to the expiry time of any ticket purchased when the vehicle is displaying a Blue Badge.     Note: Post codes given are as accurate as possible, but due to car parks not having individual post codes they may just lead you to the street where the car park is situated.
