D6G/0 ##### Thank you for the many kind words sent along with your renewals. Publishing a newsletter is a labor of love, so without the love it would just be a labor. Thank you, too, for the extra that was sent along for the "postage fund". With the increase in postage, appreciation is doubled.
And not the least on the list, thank you for the material that you so kindly shared for this and future issues. But, there is a shortage on queries. Won't you submit a query for the next issue, even if it is a repeat it pays to remind others of your wants.
Have a good summer and don't forget to share your research information with DODD DIGGINGS.

This book is based on the U.S. Government's setting up a reserve along the west-central border of the state as bounty land for veterans. Records of the veterans who received lands in that area are in the Illinois State Archives, Springfield.

Please note the new address and telephone number. If you notice the lateness of the newsletter let the move and the first vacation in three years be the excuse. Yes, there were courthouses, libraries and cemeteries visited on vacation. Some of the things learned shall appear in this issue. Do you have anything to share from your summer quest? Thanks, as always, for the information you have so kindly shared. May your summer have been the greatest yet.
Recently, it seems, there have been more and more information seekers who use only the city and state in their correspondence and on the family group sheets. Why? Except for a few isolated cases, all area research is done on a county level. The records here are filed according to state and county. If you do not list the county, then I do not have the time to search every county in the state to provide help to you, therefore, you may be advised that there is nothing available here, which may not really be the case at all. Remember, if you are asking for help do not suppose the other person has a crystal ball in working order. AND while on the soap box, why do so many fail to include return postage with their first request? This has always been the standard courtesy as far back as I know. If it wasn't for the kindness of so many of you subscribers who include a little extra for the postage fund it would not be possible to reply to these correspondents and, even so, there are still a few who do not merit the use of your kindnesses. If the other person is kind enough to share their information and time, surely it is worth a 25 cent stamp and an self-addressed envelope.

Queries free to subscribers only. BEWARE. The infaaous Halbert's has a new scheme) If your name is DODD they have devised a new angle to sell their book of Dodd naaea froa US telephone directories by sending a letter professing to be from a "Michael W. Dodd*', signed with a scribble above the typed name "Michael W. Dodd, i.a." It would seem the i.a. stood for in absentia, but correctly would be inaccessible. And "Michael" takes Visa and Mastercard! If you have been duped by this company YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK eventually. Just bring this to the attention of your postmaster. No aatter what your name may be, do not be taken in by Halbert'8.
This issue concludes the ninth year of publication. Right into the business, please note there has been an increase in the price of DODD DIGGINGS to S7.00 for the upcoming year. This is the first increase aince 1985.
Your contributions to this and future issues of the newsletter are always appreciated. Please don't forget to send your queries! It doesn't matter that your query has been published before, thla may just be the time that the right peraon reada it. Reaeaber queries are for subscribers only and they muat be DODD(S) related.
