The OBU Dietetics program prepared me very well for my internship, RD exam, graduate school, and current job. The individualized attention and broad exposure to the field of dietetics through built-in shadowing and practicum experiences were unique components of the OBU’s program that many other programs do not provide.” – Emily (Hastings) Dunn (’14)

PROGRAM BENEFITSEXPERIENCES

As part of the curriculum, students serve in local church kitchens, campus meals, county fair meals, Head Start, health fairs, and other opportunities. Students complete two semesters of practical hands-on learning experience in a local hospital. Students in the program are involved in the Student Dietetics Association, which is sponsored by Mrs. Stacy Freeman. The Student Dietetic Association holds monthly meetings to plan or participate in campus or community service projects and to fundraise for trips to the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo. The Student Dietetic Association maintains a bulletin board for dissemination of information and for highlighting current nutrition topics and activities.
